Battle of Milvian Bridge | Epic Historical Cinematic Total War Battle

- In this epic historical cinematic you will experience the battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 AD between the forces of Constantine and those of Maxentius. This battle is known as a pivotal battle leading to the Roman Empire's first steps toward adopting the Christianity faith. Constantine wanted to become emperor of the Western Roman Empire by conquering Rome. But he had to defeat Maxentius, the existing emperor. The war culminated at the Milvian bridge at the river Tiber where Maxentius brought 30,000 troops and Constantine had around 25,000. The day before the battle in 312 AD, Constantine had a vision, perceiving in the sky a luminous X-shaped cross, crossed by a P (designating Christ) and surrounded by the Latin phrase, ''in hoc signo vinces'' (by this sign, you will conquer). Seeing this as divine intervention and a sign from God, he immediately ordered to have the shield of his troops painted with this symbol. Maxentius built a pontoon bridge to help with the crossing of the river and started leading his troops on the other side. Constantine was waiting on the other side of the river and seeing that Maxentius' formation was too close with their backs to the river, he immediately attacked with his left cavalry flank. Soon after, the center legionnaires engaged in battle. The left charge of the cavalry pushed back Maxentius' flank but was supported by reserves who then counter-attacked. At the same time, Constantine was assaulted on the right side of the battlefield with his cavalry contingent. After having reinforced his left flank against Maxentius' counter-attack, Constantine was able to push back both of his enemy's cavalry on the flanks and pursued them towards the river. Then, Maxentius' infantry reserves started fleeing back in panic, trying to cross the river. Constantine took advantage of this and slaughtered the fleeing troops. While some of Maxentius' troops succeeded in crossing the river, many perished and Maxentius got thrown into the water and drowned.

EXCELLENT ! Had everything I was looking forward to , if they had reenactments like this when I was in school I wouldn't have cut classes like I did , these videos should be presented in high school history classes and discussions , as well as collegiate forums , thank you very much for the time you spend on each of these recreations .

Did any of the Praetorians or infantry make it back to Rome and while it seems logical to assume, I try not too. If they were able to flee did they use Via Flaminia? I know Constantine was generous in his treatment of soldiers after the battle, but was curious as to how many of Maxentius's troops actually survived if they were recorded. Thanks for a great video.

Ich würde gerne die Schlacht auf den Katalaunischen Feldern sehen. Die gibt es zwar schon bei den Historischen Schlachten in Total war Attila aber da wird der Verlauf meiner Meinung nach nicht gut dargestellt.

Yeah, we discussed that during production, for example the bridge. Aditu tried finding a map with the bridge not broken however there wasn’t any working one with a fully function bridge.

L'Empire est née de la guerre civile du 1er avant J.-C., Octave Auguste devenant Princeps. Avec Auguste revint la paix, la prospérité.
Avec Vespasien, ce fut un retour de l'autorité impériale, après la personnalité décadente de Néron. L'Empire était néanmoins prospère malgré les vicissitudes de l'entourade de Néron.

Its war... its supposed to be chaotic. Thousands of men in close hand to hand combat in armour and with their accompanied horses is not ment to sound like an episode about succulent plants on the home and garden show on tv respectfully.
