I had a ENERGY center channel and I changed the POLYFILL for acoustic foam. The difference was amazing because it was a vented speaker. Maybe you should try percing a hole and installing a port. Be careful, take your time and good luck!
Not a good idea dont do this. Yamaha doesn't skimp on there speakers. It's not made that way to cut cost or for profit it's made that way because that's the way it sounds best. You adding fill to it is blocking the speaker in more. If they needed a better sound out of it (which they dont) they sound perfect they would have put those speakers in a smaller box. Leave well enough alone.
Disassembling and adding poly-fill is not destroying a speaker. As far as I am concerned, it improves the sound quality due to the dampening nature of the poly-fill.

Dont repair it If its not broken .......... The NS C 444 is an amazing Speaker and good value for money.

Yamaha tune their speakers this way on purpose ?
