I always turn mine off and let it sit for a while before removing the handle/filter. Is it OK to remove it while the knob is still in the "ON" position?
Thank-you for this awesome video!! The close-up on you steaming the milk really helped me. I watched my milk as I was steaming it, to get it to look like yours and I finally made FROTH lol!! Before, my milk looked like a stormy ocean while I was attempting to steam it, I had no clue : D Thanks again!!! : ) ( :
I bought a grinder and starbucks coffee beans from the grocery store. I depressurized the portafilter. i grinded the beans fine but coffee comes out without creme. What's the problem?Help
Hey Kong! So I followed everything in your steps but I'm still not getting crema out of the coffe. It is still very liquid. Honestly do not know what to do here. Can you help me out. Thanxx
i have 2 questions 1- what kind of coffee do you use? 2- why i have to unpressurized the machine? thanks alot for sharing this video, it was really helpful
Kong Leung $105 lol what?! thats half the price of my machine (ec200 - same wand) ... Any other way? And the tip was different in your other video but in this video it is the original wand... so is this sufficient to make latte art or is a mod required? whatever I do I end up with too much froth due to air bubbles.
$105 is in HKD. The original wand was designed to make lots of froth easily but it's not easy to make good froth. The metal wand makes froth like professional machines do, making good micro-froth. It's also easy to clean. Hope this can help!
Oh wow I feel stupid now lol. Thank you very much for your response! And if I may ask another question, would you say getting only the metal tip is enough or should I change the entire pipe with Rancillo Sylvia v1/2 ? I am a newbie and have an EC 200. From what I understand, the steam system is identical. Currently I am only able to create milk-coffee "soup" when I pour the milk :/ Or I can separate the froth on the top with a spoon and put that on top of the espresso to create a bad cappuccino... but latte art seems pretty far away for me... (Subbed btw)
Nice! Hardest part for me is getting the milk to come out fully frothed, instead of liquid milk at the bottom and a layer of foam on top. I see he poured milk into the shot glass to test this. Cool that you can modify this machine to make it even better.
15 seconds for coffee extraction, this is not espresso. In fact, the way it looks (without crema, not even foam) you are far away of espresso standards. Try again.
Silvio I modded my portafilter and removed the pressure valve. When I pull and espresso with #8 setting on the Baratza Encore grinder, I don't get any crema. When I use the pressure valve I get crema. I tried coarser grind and I just got more coffee and no crema. I don't know which direction to go.
Gino Punsalan Pressurized baskets make fake crema, when using an unpressurized one you need to use really fresh coffee to get crema. You should dial in your grind untill you get it fine enough to extract in 20 to 30 seconds. When you go unpressurized you need to grind much finer, because the coffee is the only thing resisting the waterflow.
I agree it is not the best way to extract the coffee, but we have already had an obviously improvement. So, I strongly recommend to replace the unpressurized filter.
Used one of these machines for 4 years. Eventually pump failed. Ordered a new one, can't wait to try your modifications. Thank, You!
In instructional videos, people don't usually do things as fast as humanly possible
Coffee does that to you.
I always turn mine off and let it sit for a while before removing the handle/filter.

what grinder are you using ?

How do you froth the milk using its own panarello? I still couldn't manage to get the texture
This is so beautiful; I almost cried
why do you throw away the first bit of coffee? is this mostly water?
I bought a grinder and starbucks coffee beans from the grocery store. I depressurized the portafilter. i grinded the beans fine but coffee comes out without creme. What's the problem?Help

Is it as effective as buying the special unpressurized filter off eBay? Thanks
so its better to unpressurize it or use it with stock settings? ;) im going to buy this coffee maker tomorrow :)
What’s is unpressed for? Does it make more creamy and better tasting?
How did you get créma? I tried that and got zero créma.
Hey Kong! So I followed everything in your steps but I'm still not getting crema out of the coffe. It is still very liquid.
Honestly do not know what to do here.

Do you have video?
i have 2 questions
1- what kind of coffee do you use?
2- why i have to unpressurized the machine?
thanks alot for sharing this video, it was really helpful
unpressurized filter makes the real taste of coffee
thanks alot :)
Willl the modified steam wand work on a Eco310 ? The current steam wand is really bad.
it doesn't fit EC310
But the problem is the filter comes flying out when you tap to remove the used coffee ground.
What type of coffee did u use for this? Did you grind yourself it was it preground?
The coffee bean is roasted by myself
Did you modify the steam wand in any way? Great video!
this is the replacement

測試後覺得無壓 Filter 比較好,清潔較方便,咖啡的質量也較高。這個方法只可在未買無壓 filter 前暫時使用。
Köszönöm,ez volt a hiba nálam, minden ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
請問呢,甘樣整左系咪就唔洗買無壓filter? 同時想轉翻原本都得,甘做個效果同轉無壓filter系咪一樣架?thanks!
How come u made a great froth on your milk?
the plastic steam tip is easy to get too much froth. spend most of the time to mix the froth and milk before the temperature reach 65 degree
Hi, How you remove the milk fronter plastic cover ??
buy a pitbull

That doesn’t make it an unpressurized filter. The water is still forced to go towards the middle. It makes a good shot though.
what is the diffrent between Ec145 and Ec155 please?
one is ec145 and the other is ec155
Build quality
did you cut out the plastic bottom of the handle?
+Cuban Nerd
yes
Kong Leung Thanks.
cut out how??
no
i just did this and worked perfectly amazing coffee
removing the plunger is better since it supports the filter and wont bend it/ cut the rubber under the pressure.
by plunger , are you referring to that entire black piece of plastic that makes it pressurized ?
I remove that part but it come like dough not dry or absorbe water
go buy new machine and try again
buy a real un-pressurized filter. you will find a new world
I did this also ... way better coffee! Turkish grind works nice!
Why non pressure filter?
so it not make so much pressure
to taste the real coffee
wow! will try tomorrow with my ec152! :)
Not really sure why I would want to do this......
Non pressurized is MUCH better.
You make espresso in a glass Cup, then slice into a ceramic bowl. No need, and you lose the foam.
No way! Thank You!
muito bom
Dope
Why would anyone want to use an un-pressurized filter?
AWESOME
Master
ic. Thanks! =]
My coffee comes out flat no foam
Extraction time still too fast
Yup, the shot looks under extracted. I don't see real crema.
15 seconds for coffee extraction, this is not espresso. In fact, the way it looks (without crema, not even foam) you are far away of espresso standards. Try again.
Silvio I am new at this. What should I look for?
First, you need an unpressurized filter basket, a decent grinder, fresh roasted coffee beans and then we will see what you get after these changes....
Silvio I modded my portafilter and removed the pressure valve. When I pull and espresso with #8 setting on the Baratza Encore grinder, I don't get any crema. When I use the pressure valve I get crema.

You did not mention about the coffee you are using. Is it fresh roasted or not ? (fresh means no more than 3 weeks for me)
that wasn't a complete shot !
I agree it is not the best way to extract the coffee, but we have already had an obviously improvement. So, I strongly recommend to replace the unpressurized filter.
Dayam boss
強哦
This is any kind of chinese joke probably. Coffee made like this looks like a filtered coffee without crema. Dont’t do this.
