@pnhnut ~ The things I learn by reading the comments!!! Thank you for suggesting this to Al. I had no idea such a thing existed! I learned about Gabion Fencing by reading the comments.
Al, you are definitely in your area! I am so impressed with what you and Gina have been able to accomplish and learn. That "new" property has been a Godsend for you.
Gina your videography skills are great. I really enjoy seeing how you tie everything together. On the funny side. I ordered 3 bags of coffee at the last drop you guys did. It arrived at our small post office and sat there for several days before i could pick it up. In the meantime it just sat. When i walked in the postal clerk looked at me and just said, “Oh darn Al’s here for his coffee. We were hoping you wouldn’t pick it up.” I swear when i walked into the lobby i could smell the coffee. Next time I’ll order and extra bag just for the postal clerks to enjoy. Maybe you could consider putting a card in the package with your website and TH-cam channel information that buyers like me could give away. Several other customers behind me all made comments about how good the coffee smelled.
All you other buds and supporters have already said the same: Thanks for the lovely channel! You friendliness and charitable nature shows through. Have a wonderful Xmas, family!
Good video. Got 6 inches of the white stuff in MN today. Above 20F/ -4C so not too bad the snow is like popcorn - dry and fluffy. I appreciate your fine stewardship of your land - well done.
Looked like all that work you had done last year paid off! Everything looked great. The water running down from the woods into pools was beautiful. I guess beaver control is just another fun fact of life in managing property! You're all doing great!
You have such beautiful property. I always enjoy your videos and seeing all the projects you have going on and how your farm is growing. However sometimes it’s nice to just follow you around while checking everything out. I get to see all the beauty that is your farm, pastures & woodlands. Breathtaking! Thank you for sharing. 😊❤🙏
You might want to get a engineer to come out and take a look at your site. He can tell you where you might need to dig to put in more corrugated pipes or you might need to build up the ground and put in a bridge because you're land is low when you have over flow. And if you don't put in a bridge every time you have over flow your road will wash out. You need a engineer.
Loved this video. While I'm sitting in my air conditioning here in north Carolina I can still enjoy snow with you . Thanks gor allowing me to tag along
Maybe multi culverts in that area that washed out would be a good idea that way if one plugs up the other ones could keep it from over flowing . That little bridge where all the animals crossed the creek would be a good trail cam and tree stand spot . If U bagged that big moose that made those marks U might need a BIG FREEZER for all that . Wow that`s pretty high up.
We may not know what you had planned for this video Al, but I can say I always enjoy heading out into the property with you whether it is for recon or a repair. Thanks for sharing.
Good morning! Al, we once did what your describing with the plexiglass and when it got cold and we moved it, it was prone to breaking if it caught at all. After 2 years of messing with different ways of using the slots, my Dad gave up on the slots and made a frame out of wood that slide back and forth and when you lifted it, it could come out and one with a screen could be put in. I know your a head in videos and your probably already done with the project, but I wanted to pass on our experience with doing it the way your going to. It was also about 37 years ago and the products might have gotten better by now, hope yours works better then ours did, but the framed ones worked better and sealed better too where they overlapped. Have a wonderful weekend!
Build a secondary escape road just in case something like this happens and you really need to get off the property. Reason could be fire or flood. My community has one for this purpose. No one uses it regularly it’s just maintain in case.
To much unnecessary expense. As long as one of the vehicles could make it why spend the money to make another road that would probably wash out as well...
Actually, in the Gatlinburg fires several years ago, people were killed because many of the roads had only one way in and out, and they got trapped. I think a secondary access road, even if it is a trail you can ride your side by side on, is an excellent idea! But make sure any gates have cameras.
Good morning Al and Gina. With the road having washed out twice in the same area in recent months, and now that you have larger machines, have you considered placing large rocks on the downstream side of the road to help prevent or minimise future washouts.
Hi Al and Gina, hello from France ! This not the first time you encouter road damage and other kind of flooding. Last One, the beaver dam… I think you should check the roads, ditch and others more often…before the damage are too big 😉 Maybe fly over your property once the week with drone to double check everything.
It is great you have the new digger....sure does make short work on the road repairs among all the other tasks it is designed to do. Happy to see you didn't have any other big wash outs. Hope you can get some footage of that moose, he is a giant. Y'all have a blessed day.
A winter washout! Who would think that would happen? Good thing you know how to be flexible. Here in MN we have winter storm warnings, predicting 8 inches of snow or more. First big storm of the year. That machine is great , quiet and efficient.
Without spending tons of money, and weeks of labor, keep doing what ya'll are doing. Water table on your property fluctuates with the seasons. Anticipate the high water table, put in larger culverts, rid the property of beavers...simple..😂😅 Love ya'll ❤️
Good 🌄 morning to the Lumnah Family and all visitors to the OGP! Snow started falling about 2:30 am. In Central Minnesota. Weather reports say 4 to 7 inches to come. So. Shoveling in light lifts so I don't wear myself out or do myself a serious mischief! It sure looks pretty, although the morning commute is going to be quite a mess! Stay safe out there, people! Happy Holidays to you!
Good morning! Your best bet for the flood zone is to have professionals come in and build the entire road up a good 2-3 feet.If there were ever an emergency, you would be pooched if the truck was not at home.
Yes and Yes, I told you before about the square culverts used in Texas. Your ground is super saturated. Spending $300 to $500 or even $1000 is worth the money. Also mention the beavers. They might be part of the plan. Good luck.
Good evening to the Lumnah clan! Always something to occupy the days there. Happy to see the excavator working so well for you. Seems like an excellent investment for the farm and it surely made short work of the washout. Lookin good 👍

Good morning Al, Gina and Olivia Watched your episode this morning about the flooding and maybe another culvert will help? I also noticed your equipment scattered around…. Al don’t you think it’s about time for an equipment shed big enough for all of your equipment, maybe a roof with back and both ends covered? And tall enough for the excavator!

Al you are going to have to add another culvert to that section. When you get excessive water the one you have gets overwhelmed.might want to look at how it is graded too
In west PA we had a drought this fall. We are grateful for every raindrop right now. We have to be mindful of wisely using water wells and gravity flow springs in our area. You have extra water management problems.
Just take some screws and put a bold ammo across the bottom. After you get the window in and you slide it in at the top, then put the board at the bottom. I think I'd be more concerned about correcting flooding issues caused by grading issues than by that caused by beavers in areas of your property that are a fair distance from your house and other structures.
This spring we decided to clean out our two culverts and cleared all the branches and tree limbs and deepened our ditches. Really helped up when Hurricane Helena came through Georgia.
Good morning folks , . I follow your folks often and just wanted Al to know that the marks into the trees is a Bull Moose rubbing he antlers marking his area. If you monitor the rubbing the antlers will fall off. Keep up the great work
Hello Lumnahs, I hope everyone's doing okay. I lived in Beamsville Ontario on a farm there when I was younger. We had this problem in the cherry orchard . My father had to take several small streams and make them into one small river and put a pipe under the road that kept washing away. It was a lot of work damming the streams so they would flow into a small river, and creating a river in the first place ,but we never had a problem after that. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄✨🎉🎁
Al, all these years I have been wondering how tall you are... you probably get more done per inch than most guys, and you don't let challenges get you down. You are an inspiration!
Still quite a lot of white stuff after 2” of rain! I’m thinking any 6” culvert needs to be replaced by 12”…. And a Few of them ought to be larger! Do you think that “blow out” on the roadway was from over flow, or did something upstream give way and created a burst of water? Just seamed odd it was only digging out one side of the road. Of course I don’t know if your rain turned into more snow or if most of the white we see is now frozen slush. Good video showing the everyday trials on the OHP! Loved Gina’s comment “sunny to recharge the battery systems…. Sounds like she might have plans for all that power!! Christmas goodies or laundry hmmmm…. either or both ! “Hello to Miss Olivia!”
The camera you have been using lately, takes some incredibly well defined beautiful videos! Thank You!
