I am loving this recent branch-out to terrain and scenery. It's just as important a part of the hobby as the miniatures. However, I think I am a tad biased here because I just love the nostalgia of the old world and it's terrain. I guess it's just nice to see it brought back to life. Oh, and ease up on the voice acting, we don't want to lose you to Universal Studios or Pixar or something 😂😂 Great vid! Keep it up!
😂 I think I’d struggle with a daytime soap so Pixar are safe from me (there’s Easter egg second parts to those clips after the credits if you haven’t seen them 😉). Thank you as always Kelvin 🙂
That’s a tool I’ve never owned, really should pick one up. I so rarely use any static grass at all, mostly tufts and occasionally old school extra fine flock like this on terrain.
@@MiniatureRealms they’re good fun to use. Got it when I was playing Kings of War and multibasing units as mini-dioramas. Would definitely recommend one - it probably repays itself in not needing to buy as many tufts.
I’ve got a set of these to paint once I’ve finished the fortified manor. I was surprised just how big they are when I took them out of the box, I think I might have to add a few extra rocks and rubble to mine just for a little added texture. I’m hoping to get a rerelease of the mausoleum/graveyard next. Thanks for the vid👍🏻
The hills and the wood base turned out great. I think doing the terrain might be when I give the new airbrush a go. Whilst I’ve got the rattle cans I will also use them as short cuts too since they are very quick I’ve seen some of these oil type products as acrylic versions. Have you ever tried acrylic versions? I have some old tired brushes that I would be willing to give the oil ones a go too, I just haven’t seen any in the shops
@Svengar yeah I can’t imagine very many stay long enough to watch them. I occasionally add them to videos, but not often. The three with Bernhard and Dieter intros all have them though, and they kind of run in as small narrative from one video to the next.
@@MiniatureRealms I think I have seen most of them if not all. Hopefully enough people do watch right to the end although you might want to put it just before the credits to make sure? Cool with me either way as I will see them
@Svengar The major it of people don’t watch till the closing comments, so that wouldn’t make a huge difference, but I had considered that. Sill it’s supposed to be a fun Easter egg very few people find.
"Wet"dry brush(so its really thin)brown, working up to thro about five lighter colours to morgaust bone. Shade(wash) with any old crappy brown wash you happen to have laying about in the recesses and a final dry brush of any off white you may have. Finally.. flock. No airbrush required. And a better result.
From many different sources really, but essentially they’re the kind you find in Model Railway stores. Not the cheapest, but look great and last for years.
Thanks for the vid; I just got two boxes of these hills in and need to slap some paint on them. Question for you: do you put paint back in the bottle after using it in an airbrush? Just asking as when I've watched you airbrush, it looks like you have a *ton* in the cup, and I feel like I'd burn through half a bottle of paint in one go if I did that. Maybe I'm missing something. :)
If you’ve thinned it then you can’t always put it back, though if it’s just a small amount then sometimes I do. What you don’t see here is that I was painting two hills and two wood bases, and I mostly press record on the camera for the first min or so of each stage, then work on the rest off camera.
Yep you’re spot on Nick, I’ve got quite a few that I’ve left as the bare branches and they look really nice for winter/spooky barren looking trees. I used them for Mordheim last, perfect for that.
Range of quality as well, Woodlands Scenics ones are nice. If you are able too it’s best to pick them up in person, otherwise read the description online for size carefully.
To be suprise i found very controversy what part of that hill is a hill or is it dubble hil or 1/2 hil and full hill parts (Raze and un raze part).... Rely weerd discusion.
Yeah that’s an odd one, just a matter of chatting with your opponent before the game and going over and agreeing how to treat each piece of terrain can help that.
It looks okay, but I think the airbrush is the wrong tool here. It makes everything much too smooth and looks kinda artificial. A hard brush is much better for stone painting - and faster, too.
Nice one! I have these in my Warriors Of Chaos pre-order bundle
My box my have arrived today 😂

Looks great - and will give me a chance to use a static grass applicator I have in the cupboard!

Great video. Thanks, Stu. As for airbrushes, I haven't really seen anything that you do that cannot be handled (more slowly) with similar effect.
Thank you 🙂

They’re huge aren’t they, still can’t believe you get two in a box for £26 😂
Thanks for the vid, You must have known I just pulled these out of the box and wondered if there was a tutorial somewhere to paint them 😂😂😂
😂 Good timing it seems 🙂
Awesome video!
Little note, its Car-care-o-don (carcharodon)
Ah awesome thank you, though I’m sure I’ll forget that pronunciation next time 😅
As always, a great video 👍👍
Thank you

I’ve not tried any of the newer acrylic versions, I keep meaning to see if I can get any review items.
Bring on the chaos warriors too. Feel sorry for Bernard and co mind you, a fair run of bad luck 😂
Poor old Dieter and Bernhard haven’t had a lot of luck no 😂, have you seen the post credits Easter eggs as well?
@@MiniatureRealms I actually missed the Easter eggs on Patreon probably by seconds but saw it on a rewatch here 😀

Subjectivity is tricky for some of course.
Those trees are great! Where did you get them from?
I’ve had them years and got them from many different places, but the best ones are the kind you find on model railway shops.
Where do you get your trees from? They look like the ones GW used to have in old White Dwarfs - I'm trying to find some myself

The trees at least the old ones are ok if your going for a dark dead woods.

They’re all different shapes and sizes really.
@@MiniatureRealms I know they come in quite the range, I'd hate to get a odd size.
