your example (by giving the haarkonen 7 spice immediately after he kills the fremen leader) seems to imply the killer gets the spice... you should first determine the battle outcome to see who is the winner since the winner gets the spice from dead leaders, even their own

I agree completely. He made a mistake here in the vid.

What happens if you pick a traitor card that belongs to the same faction you're in? Just a way to make sure that character isn't used as a traitor? Are you required to pick an opponents character as traitor card over one of your own if you're given a selection of cards that includes both options?

if you see one of your leaders in your initial 4 traitor cards, you don't have to keep it, you are guaranteed that he will not be a traitor since there is no opportunity to draw new traitor cards during the game

@@ericlazure right, I didn't think that far. But in the rules it says "... If they drew no opponent leaders, they can protect one of their own". I'm wondering what is meant by that exactly.

@@Zaptagious GF9 has a tendency for useless sentences... it only means that you can keep it in your hand (and so the other players don't know that your drew 4 of your leaders)

Thanks ! I was wondering about that sentence too.

Eric Lazure can you redraw it?

If you lose a fight but your leader survives, can they be used again in the same turn? In the video you only mention that happens to the winning player.

Yes but only in the same area of the board.

I don't think it's possible for a leader to survive a lost battle unless there are specific faction abilities used.

@@ansharok The rulebook I have (v36.4.2mz) and the one on gf9 website both state that the losing player keeps their leader, unless they were killed by a weapon card or another rule (lasgun vs shield, traitor)
In my rule book it says: "A losing player [...] keeps their Leader if it survived, placing it in the Territory of the Battle"
In the one I just downloaded from the gf9 website, it says: "Note that the loser does not lose their leader as a result of battle. Leaders are killed only by Weapon Treachery Cards."
Thematically, it can probably be interpreted as the leader running away and escaping when they see the battle is lost. Might seem cowardly, but strategically it's generally better than losing a good leader. Also, in the original storyline there were situations where important protagonists would escape a lost battle.

Do stared forces give you an additional force
I.e. empire use one stared force and 2 normal count as 0-3 or 0-4 in the battle wheel choice.

Don't get it. If I put some troops from my reserve in a citadel where another player has troops already here...is there a combat ?

Seems like a huge step backwards from Rex.

Have neither played Rex or the old or new Dune, just checking that you know the old Dune came first?

Daniel Holding yes, I’m aware this is another implementation of the original Dune, which I feel that Rex did a much more thematic higher quality production level of. FFG rethemed it to their Twilight Imperium universe and made the board larger, etc.
This looks like they didn’t pit any effort into reimagining it at all, with the exception of some new art which I’m not even all that fond of.
I was excited for a new property from GF9, bit this is a huge letdown. Where are the glory days of new development like Spartacus?

@@Milkfromacow1975 as far as I'm aware, they didn't even try to reimagine it, they just tried to reprint it so it was available.

Daniel Holding then this is part of a bigger problem. Gaming has progressed quite far since that design and there is clearly room for improvements. I suspect this will be forgotten quite quickly.

@@Milkfromacow1975 have you seen shut up and sit downs review? From the looks, they have added new stuff as an optional add on, I could be misunderstanding butI believe it means new content is there, but for those who just want to original (everyone I know) they can play that too without being forced to have the extra
