@@lunar532 It was, but at the time there was a focus on just getting a high score. He would drain points away pretty quickly and take your toppins away (if he hit you). They acted as lives, you'd only die to him if you were pretty bad. But if you did everything and beat him in maybe 5 or so laps without a toppin taken away, you'd get a P. This was in Demo 3 I think.

I actually like some of this builds asthetic more than the final game, specifically the rank bar and the fact that the combo ranks appear above you instead of under the combo bar
@@Sonic-oh2ly the heat meter was critically panned across almost the entire pizza tower community for being way too gimmicky for the base game It basically was a meter that built up based on how fast you killed enemies, and as it got higher it made enemies faster and gave them extremely irritating hard to avoid attacks that made the game insufferable to play unless you could parry everything consistently without fail, but it just meant the game sucked ass to play for anyone who could actually play the game fast The result is that people who sucked at the game have a horrible time because the game's mechanics at the time weren't beginner friendly (they focused on momentum and you couldn't grab onto walls to run up them) and people who were good at the game were miserable because everything becomes annoying and unfair to deal with It was cool on paper but was very obviously bad for the game, and in it's state in this build, the heat meter not only did absolutely nothing, but just confuses players *because* it means nothing
top tier the gameplay, EXQUISITE the graphics, PERFECT the fps of 30 frames per second is on absolute critical, EXCELLENTNESS THE BEST GAMEPLAY WITH THE 15FPS

IIRC in this build the heat meter was simply just a score multiplier. Kinda surprising that there isn't anything resembling a score multiplier in the final version, but I guess getting a good score is already challenge enough.
