Well done both of you on passing your K53s on the first attempt! I did my test last week and failed because my front tyre crossed a boundary line by about 50mm in that very tight turn in the top left corner after the Stop. My big adventure bike is too big and heavy for that test - it's like riding a big bike very slowly through a restaurant without putting your foot down or touching any furniture - the gaps and turns are the same. I will try again on a smaller, lighter bike.
So sorry to hear you didn't pass! It is not easy on big adventure bikes, luckily we don't have the biggest ones, but even we contemplated to use a small and light bike from a friend of ours. I am sure you will pass next time :)
We glad we got better and it can be seen 🤣 we still have so much to learn and such a long way to go! But slowly but surely we getting there! 🤣🤣🤣 thank you for pointing it out! We sometimes forget and its nice to hear we are getting better. 😁🧡
Thank you so much, the test was really not that hard but we happy it all went well. Will be interesting to see what you need to do in the USA to get a license.
@@thetravelingtortoises It really matters what state you apply in. Not all states have the same requirements. The one I’m in requires you take a motorcycle safety course which includes classroom instruction and riding instruction. Once you have a license in one state, you’re covered in the others. Are you planning to come to the U.S. ?
Yes here for your learners you write an exam and then for your license you do the practical test. But intresting to see how other countries do things. We would live to come to the States at some point. The BDR looks amazing to ride and what we have seen of the States it seems it could just be awesome. 😁
Wow...!! You passed, well done. But actually, on the right lane change, the lane change has to be achieved before crossing the last line through the block, if you touch this line, you fail. Also, two observations before each manoeuvre, this is according to the standard. But, well done..!!
Thank you, we had a walk trough the test with the instructors (Traffic Officers) and thus we just did what they told us. Think that is the best way to go about these things to just listen and do what the people assessing you tell you to do. :)
Congrats. Hoekom het jul jul licence spesifiek in Oudshoring gedoen? Is dit makliker daar? Wel, as dit was dan sal ek ook a 1000km ry vir my license. Ek vra want ek moet ook eeeeendag (oor 1 jaar 8 maande) my lisence kry.
Thank you! I am just going to reply in English (Werner is the only Afrikaans one). But we did it in Oudtshoorn because we were told that they have the shortest waiting time. It didn't appear to still be that way when we got there, but it was too late to change to another town. So we did it in Oudtshoorn.. They were very friendly and helpful though. But I wouldn't ride 1000km for it ;).
This might be the case but as all bikes are different they told us to just be above 25km/h and under 30km/h. We think that the "book" just states that as most people do their licenses on smaller cc bikes that is pretty slow. But imagine doing 2de gear as fast as possible on a super bike! So what we understood was that it is to confirm you can do the turn at a controlled and specific speed. Once again we just did what they told us to do.
Failed my 1st test by riding over the curved line. Went to google maps to look at the aerial view of the testing field, used measuring function on google maps to measure the different distances. The way to find the curve is looking at it as a triangle. Each side of the base of the triangle is 14m, and the height I forgot the measurement, you can use the google maps aerial view measuring tool. What I remember is that the opening of the curve is 2m, and you should be able to navigate the curve at a speed between 22 and to 25km,or as fast a you can. maintaining the same speed you entered the curve, to exit the curve. Always mount and unmount your bike with you hand on the front brake. Observe before start, during and end of every maneuver. Turning speed judgement should be in second gear, as fast as possible
This might be the case but as all bikes are different they told us to just be above 25km/h and under 30km/h.
