Parasite Eve is one of my all time favorite games. Great mention. My favorite Silent Hill is the first with Silent Hill 2 coming in close behind. A game you both have got to play is Eternal Darkness on Gamecube. Insanely psychological horror that you will love. Great video guys.

the thing. best horror movie ever. silent hill 2 was incredible. A game so scary (I was about 11 when it came out) I was scared to buy it. I thought that this game would screw with me (like the exorcist did) and didnt buy it. 3 years later about 2004 or 2005 I bought it and finished it 3 times. scared the living daylights out of me but I loved it so much and was so blown away. My older brother brian who has NO interest in games used to love watching me play it and just sitting there watching me always insisting the lights were turned off. He new he couldnt play the game but loved watching it unfold and watching to see how I would handle certain situations. Best of the silent hill games. 1 and 3 were awesome as well but silent hill 2 still holds up so well today and is a masterpiece.
I have to agree.. Fatal frame is trully scary horror games. Like, it really scares you more than any survival horror games like Silent Hill or RE. It's like watching asian horror movie.

Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite games of all time because it's one of the best stories i've ever played in a video game. the symbolism of each creature and they feeling of dread throughout the progression and the characters you meet being screwed up in their own way, (Eddie). I think everyone should play this game or at least watch a let's play.
The Knaaren in Rayman 3 are very creepy. I was playing through the Knaaren Desert with my best friend at his house as a kid. When we fell through hole, we keep passing the controller back and forth. My heart was pounding, while they coming through the stone wall and capturing Globox.
I don't know if you guys know this but there is also a game called Camera Obscura I think it was called which is loosely based off fatal frame just in case you guys didn't know that is
What I liked about Parasite Eve (first one) was when I ran out of bullets in the park stage and I engaged into a fight with Eve into a runaway horse wagon; the only weapon to defend myself with was the club, that alone added a new definition to the term 'survival horror' and yes, I did eventually win that boss battle; it was so epic and original.
Clock Tower on PS1 was extremely suspenseful. That game used music and sound effects really well to scare the shit out of you. It actually does it so well, it keeps you scared and involved despite the questionable controls and bad voice acting.

The Parasite Eve games are pretty amazing and thought the game was a great, creepy ass games. Silent Hill 2 scared the hell out of me and I wasn't able to finish the game.
Thief 3: Deadly Shadows. The craddle mission, god i hated that mission, it simply scared the shit out of me right off the bat when you start it. It took me a good 10 minutes till i decided to enter the place. Of course i was playing with lights out and good headphones alone. That level is just amazingly well done. Oh and im surprised he mentionned parasite eve, i loved that game so much!
I played Silent Hill 2 for the first time ever the year this video was published and let me state that this game still holds up to this very day of PS4 and Xbox One consoles generation. It made me fall in love with the whole series and the survival horror genre in general. Heck, I even have a SH2 inspired tattoo of Mary's envelope and letter to James with that infamous line of "In my restless dreams...I see that town..." in a banner around it. I wish Rob brought up the soundtrack which is truly out of this world and aside from not only having one of the best and respected stories in video games, the OST transcends into true art. Team Silent set out to make you feel with this game and there are so many feelings and emotions. It also helps that the game manages to bring up so many themes in a pre-9/11 world that were so taboo that even today it still disturbs despite some of the themes losing their sharp contrast over the years. Yes I know the game came out about two weeks after the 9/11 attacks but it was developed and finished well way before the world got up and changed in a near instant. What's crazy is like I stated earlier in my rant, this game still holds up today and might go on to continue being timeless for a long time while it's peers continue to age cheesy and/or poorly over the years. Infact all the Team Silent games all hold up to this day and it's worth buying a cheap used PS2 and some memory cards and going on eBay or Amazon and hunting down copies of Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2 Greatest Hits for PS2 or Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams for Xbox since both include the playable Maria scenario, Silent Hill 3 for PS2 only please don't bother with the new dubbed XBOX 360 'remaster', and last but far from least Silent Hill 4: The Room for either PS2 or Xbox.

Huge huge fan of both Parasite Eve games. The story was very interesting and well thought out, and the setting of both are totally creepy and well thought out. I still own both original copies and still play them from time to time, and sometimes they still do freak me out to this day ^_^

Just recently got the first 4 Silent Hill games and will be playing them for the first time..just started on Silent Hill 1 and already it's creeping me the feck out in ways i've never experienced before.
As several others have already commented, there is in fact a 4th Fatal Frame. It was released exclusively on the Wii, but was not released in North America. It WAS released in PAL territories, so there does exist an English language version that you can import. Most people say it's not very good though.

Resident Evil for GameCube, Silent Hill 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask are my creepiest games. Also the re-dead in the Ocarina of Time are one of the scariest monsters I've ever seen in a game.
I recently played through Corpse Party for PC for the first time. Despite looking like a 16-bit JRPG, the game manages to be really creepy, and some of the artwork and story text is legitimately disturbing. I haven't been able to get into the sequel, but the first game is definitely worth playing.

I love you guys, you've just talked about top class survival horror games, these three games are fucking classics. The Fatal Frame series is genuinely the scariest games ever, the Parasite Eve series is so unique, there is nothing like them out there and they're great! Oh and Silent Hill... these are some of the most disturbing, atmospheric and beautiful, in they're own way, games ever made (at least 1-4) I want to replay them all now...
Here something a lot of people don't know about fatal frame 2, if you leave the game paused for a long time you will start to see little kids bloody hands touching your tv. Now that really creepy. Freaked me out the first time I saw it.
System Shock 2 and Metro Last Light scared more than any Resident Evil or Silent Hill. The thing that made these 2 games so terrifying was the suspense and having to run away from overpowered enemies. In most survival horror games the enemies move slow, like in Resident Evil and Silent Hill. In System Shock 2 and Metro Last Light, enemies sprint at you and they hunt you down. I always find myself having to run backwards while attacking. System Shock 2 is so terrifying to me that I haven't played it since I got it. I played it 2 times and never again.
Silent Hill 2 is easily in my top 3 of "the best games of all time". It still manages to creep the hell out me after 20 something playthroughs. It's that good. The third one comes pretty darn close too, Heather is probably my favorite protagonist in the series.

Heads up...there is a remake of Fatal Frame 2: CB you can import for the Wii (English releases from Europe and Australia), and also a Wii exclusive called "Mask of the Lunar Eclipse" you can import from Japan. I am going to be getting my hands on the English remake this week.

My three; 1. Silent hill 2/for all the above reasons. 2. Condemned 2/Dark, gritty, disturbing. 3.Myst/The lonelyness, the odd sounds and visuals left an impression on me.
Two games I never finished for the PS2 were Silent Hill 2 and Dragon's Quest 8 because I ended up selling my console. I still remember seeing "The Thing" at a drive-in theatre. I was 6 at the time, and technically we weren't suppose to be watching it. My parents would usually take us to a kids movie but there was always a double feature with the second film being more adult. We were suppose to be sleeping during the second film but never managed to fall asleep. Makes you miss drive-ins.
My older sister likes horror movies, while I dont, but I managed to acquire Silent Hill 2 for her to play on the PC 10 years ago, and she did play it, and she loved it, bdw, I watched her play it, and there was times where I had to jump into playing, as some parts of the game required a more experienced action gamer, while on the riddles and less demanding action parts of the game, she was fine. And for recommending movie " Killer clowns", that movie is also one of the unforgettable movies I have watched in my life, again, not fan of horror movies, but I watched.
I posted this comment because he said on twitter "From the Depths of Hard Drive hell comes!" His pc/hardrive fucked up a few days back and he lost everything. We are lucky we get to see this.
A friend and I used to get togheter at my place JUST to play silent hill 1 2 and 3..oh and resident evil 1 2 and 4. Long nights of playing...such good memories.
Koudelka and Echo Night were great on the PS1 also. I'm glad to hear someone else agrees about Homecoming and Downpour being good, Origins was fantastic, all those late nights laying in bed playing it on PSP feeling like I was really Travis, just so emersed in it. Silent Hill 2 is probably my favorite game of all time, I rented it in 2002 with a PS2 from Rogers Video, gave me nightmares and eventually became my favorite game over the years.

i feel like silent hill 3 is way overshadowed in the series. It is my personal favorite and definitely had the best scares in the series( the horror house, the mannequin head) and probably the best soundtrack. I would love to see robman do a video on the series please!
Rob, I had no idea you were such a huge Silent Hill fan. I love the older games made by Team Silent (1-3 particularly), the newer ones not so much. Johnny, you have to play Silent Hill 2. It's my favorite in the series as well and just an all around superb experience. Just don't play the HD collection version of SH2 and SH3, which are altered for the worse as well as just plain broken.
i really agree with SH2, it was so good, so creepy and so disturbing. if you ask me to play it again, i wouldn't even dare. don't even know how i managed to finish it the first time.

Fatal Frame: One of my last few Blockbuster rentals before BBs were no more. Freaky mansion! Parasite Eve: Did I play these? I voluntarily subjected myself to finish the Chrysler Building just to get the whole PE1 story. I still listen to the OSTs. Had to get the art book. Silent Hill 2: Introed me to survival horror & still my fave. Historical Flippin' Society Building: Path to hell, anyone? & I imitate Maria on a regular basis despite liking bowling.
I've only played the first three Silent Hills and for me the original is easily the best and most scariest, 2 is very good but was missing something for me, it didn't have the same sense of urgency, just a bloke wandering around not really sure what he was doing, whereas in 1 you were constantly afraid not just for yourself but for your daughter. Plus 1 has the better set pieces and locations.
There was actually a fourth Fatal Frame part, that unfortunately was only released in Japan for the Wii. There is actually an english fan site, that wrote an English-Patch for this game. Following their instructions u are able to play the game with english subtitles. Of course you had to import the title prior to it. So it would just work with the physical copy.
Pricing's pretty weird here too (Canada): for Plus Members, the full 12 episodes is at 10$ (normally at 19.99) or 45$ (3 bundles at 14.99). I guess it made sense when it came out. They must have dropped the episodes one at the time. Anyway, I wanted to play it for a while. Now's the time.
The Thing for original Xbox. I played that late at night with my brother in a small room and we were both in middle school and there was snow outside. I had a hard time sleeping that night. Also, I couldn't even finish Manhunt. That game was just too much for me at the time.

There is a Fatal Frame IV for the Wii. And there is a translated version of that since it only came out officially in Japan. Very creepy game.

The desert in Parasite Eve reminds me of Gorrister's story in "I have no mouth and i must scream" on DOS..which i found to be pretty haunting.

Two games I never finished for the PS2 were Silent Hill 2 and Dragon's Quest 8 because I ended up selling my console.
I still remember seeing "The Thing" at a drive-in theatre. I was 6 at the time, and technically we weren't suppose to be watching it. My parents would usually take us to a kids movie but there was always a double feature with the second film being more adult. We were suppose to be sleeping during the second film but never managed to fall asleep. Makes you miss drive-ins.
I agree on that. I loved Crimson Butterfly. It was the first game I was actually scared to play
Silent Hill 2 is by far my favourite psychological horror game, disturbing and frightening in equal measure...the gold standard of it's Genre.
My older sister likes horror movies, while I dont, but I managed to acquire Silent Hill 2 for her to play on the PC 10 years ago, and she did play it, and she loved it, bdw, I watched her play it, and there was times where I had to jump into playing, as some parts of the game required a more experienced action gamer, while on the riddles and less demanding action parts of the game, she was fine.
And for recommending movie " Killer clowns", that movie is also one of the unforgettable movies I have watched in my life, again, not fan of horror movies, but I watched.

A friend and I used to get togheter at my place JUST to play silent hill 1 2 and 3..oh and resident evil 1 2 and 4.

I'm glad to hear someone else agrees about Homecoming and Downpour being good, Origins was fantastic, all those late nights laying in bed playing it on PSP feeling like I was really Travis, just so emersed in it. Silent Hill 2 is probably my favorite game of all time, I rented it in 2002 with a PS2 from Rogers Video, gave me nightmares and eventually became my favorite game over the years.

i feel like silent hill 3 is way overshadowed in the series. It is my personal favorite and definitely had the best scares in the series( the horror house, the mannequin head) and probably the best soundtrack. I would love to see robman do a video on the series please!

Rob, I had no idea you were such a huge Silent Hill fan. I love the older games made by Team Silent (1-3 particularly), the newer ones not so much.
Johnny, you have to play Silent Hill 2. It's my favorite in the series as well and just an all around superb experience. Just don't play the HD collection version of SH2 and SH3, which are altered for the worse as well as just plain broken.
Shadow of The beast on Amiga is terrifying, the music is truly evil and the load times are the devil himself...
i really agree with SH2, it was so good, so creepy and so disturbing. if you ask me to play it again, i wouldn't even dare. don't even know how i managed to finish it the first time.
Fatal Frame 1 + 2 only $2.99 on the PlayStation Network this week. On another note. Awesome picks for creepy games. I've played all of them and highly agree. Siren is another one that creeps me out.

Parasite Eve: Did I play these? I voluntarily subjected myself to finish the Chrysler Building just to get the whole PE1 story. I still listen to the OSTs. Had to get the art book.
Silent Hill 2: Introed me to survival horror & still my fave. Historical Flippin' Society Building: Path to hell, anyone? & I imitate Maria on a regular basis despite liking bowling.

Amnesia The Dark Descent is a really good scary game! It's on Steam.
I've only played the first three Silent Hills and for me the original is easily the best and most scariest, 2 is very good but was missing something for me, it didn't have the same sense of urgency, just a bloke wandering around not really sure what he was doing, whereas in 1 you were constantly afraid not just for yourself but for your daughter. Plus 1 has the better set pieces and locations.
I thought the original Silent Hill was creepier than the 2nd, and I played the second first

There is a Fatal Frame 4. It only came out officially in Japan but there is a translation available.
There was actually a fourth Fatal Frame part, that unfortunately was only released in Japan for the Wii. There is actually an english fan site, that wrote an English-Patch for this game. Following their instructions u are able to play the game with english subtitles. Of course you had to import the title prior to it. So it would just work with the physical copy.

There is actually a 4th Fatal Frame game for the Wii but it was never released stateside.
Pricing's pretty weird here too (Canada): for Plus Members, the full 12 episodes is at 10$ (normally at 19.99) or 45$ (3 bundles at 14.99). I guess it made sense when it came out. They must have dropped the episodes one at the time. Anyway, I wanted to play it for a while. Now's the time.

The Thing for original Xbox. I played that late at night with my brother in a small room and we were both in middle school and there was snow outside. I had a hard time sleeping that night.
Also, I couldn't even finish Manhunt. That game was just too much for me at the time.
