This is a good idea because the light from the mobile phone is very bright. I just use a very bright LED torch. They are great. But when I candle my egg's I always can see the embyro and plenty of red veins . Thanks for sharing your video and good luck on your hatching 👍

@@JodBronson i know this was 2 years ago lol but you also run the risk of the egg exploding so remove them straight away so you don't contaminate the rest of your eggs
@@davenewton9529 - You are 100% correct, if the temperature in the incubator is high enough. Unfortunately, in an incubator is only about 99.5F Degree at their highest + humidity too.
I'm guessing the two with the visible air sack didn't hatch being so close to hatch day and the solid one did hatch. Thanks for the setup video. Did you leave it at 3 degrees turn angle? I have the same machine and I'll be using banty eggs.
Hey Vida! It depends a little on how confident you are, you should be able to see clear development by day 8 for most species and breeds but that doesn’t mean the eggs won’t stop developing later on. These days I tend to just leave all the eggs in the incubator until about 4 days before hatch, then candle them very quickly (prolonged light exposure can damage the eye at this stage) and just remove the clear ones. All other eggs get their chance to hatch.
hi! i know this video was posted ages ago haha but i just found an egg in my garden and really want to help- i tried this test and i can see glowing lines around the egg but i can’t see a larger mass where an embryo would be- has it died? any help would be really appreciated. Thanks ❤️
Heyo sorry for the late reply. If you can see glowing red lines then they are likely to be the embryo starting to develop as the veins grow first, before the embryo becomes particularly solid. It sounds like it could be incubated and still hatch if you found it before it had time to chill for too long. Good luck!

If it's a big dot in the middle with a few around the edge then it could be the growing embryo. To be honest, candling can be a bit ambiguous, so these days I tend to only candle a few days before hatch day and remove any that are completely clear and were infertile to begin with. Everything else gets its chance to hatch.
hi! i found an abandoned egg outside of my house and i’m not too sure what to do, there isn’t anywhere i can take it and none of the wildland places nearby have returned my calls. in the meantime, i was wondering if i could incubate the egg by wrapping it in a heating pad? i don’t have an incubator, but after candling it i can see it’s alive and i don’t know how else to keep it warm. thank you! :)
Hey Katarina! You could certainly try but it wouldn’t be easy. You would need a good thermometer and to keep the egg between about 35 and 38 degrees C for it to have any chance of developing properly, and that would be the challenge, keeping it consistently warm. and to turn it every few hours of course. And should it hatch the chick, and depending on species, it would need to be fed every hour or so for a few weeks. But how exciting! Good luck with your endeavour. Let us know what you decide and how it goes!
fadi yako you would need a mini incubator which you can make yourself with a heat source (your lamp ) and Relative Humidity so you would need to have a thermometer
Hello Piyar Ali! It is impossible to tell if eggs are fertile before you start to incubate them, but so long as the hens have been with a cockerel there is a good chance they will be. All you can do is start incubating them and candle them to see if an embryo is growing inside.
Hello! I would consider candling it, even if it's only a couple of days in the incubator. It could have a hairline crack and be leaking. Candling would show this up nice and clearly, if it is cracked it wont hatch i'm afraid. If it's not cracked try cleaning it with warm water (no soap) and hopefully it will stay clean. good luck!

I use my cell phone to cancel all my eggs it's actually works pretty darn good you can see that little spot in the fertilized eggs on maybe 2 days old

Hello! The brinsea ‘mini advance’ (the old model) they are a bit pricier than some other brands but I have found them to be wonderfully reliable.
