- Antilatency sent me their tracking system to try out. This video is my attempt to set up a full virtual production studio in my small home office. I hope to create virtual production short films with Unreal Engine in this space so really want this to work. I was not paid in any way for this video and any opinions I hold are my own.

I really do wish Unreal Engine's composure plugin was a bit more intuitive but I'm getting the hang of it. I may cover it in a future video so I can explain any difficulties I had. In the meantime this video helped me out a lot with bringing my tracked camera and green screen footage composited together in unreal.

Great stuff! I remember doing it with my ipad and it was a nightmare lol. Composure is a little finicky but the latency can be fixed within. Unfortunately I have given up on virtual setups as its just too costly to do it where I am from, with only the bigger companies having monopoly over the VP industry here. I have mostly return back to CG/3D work, but I still watch your stuff cause you have proven the impossible and with the knowledge you provided, hope to try it out myself someday. Looking forward to your next video!

I just tried doing this in my bedroom. The only issue was the camera tracking. That was pain in the ass.! But I’m still troubleshooting, once it gets rolling I’ll have a damn good short film and no one will ever know I made that in a freaking bedroom.

Great video! I’ve been curious about using antilantency, but some people tell me it doesn’t work with my mocap system. This video makes me want to take another look into it though!

@@AntilatencyTracker Not sure if my last reply was accidently deleted, but I developed my own mocap system that uses steamvr and live link xr. Some people in my discord tried getting it working with Antilatency, but couldn't for some reason (I suspect its a player pawn issue or something). Anyways, if you search for Mega Mocap VR you will find the free github repo.
I have almost the same room setup (maybe a little less) with a ceiling height of 2.5 meters ) I'm testing Aximmetry and trying out Virtual Production but with Vive Pro. Thanks for the video and good luck with filmmaking!

Good work! If you want, you could paint the walls green and then use your green screen on the floor to get a full greenscreen room. Keep up the hard work. Excited to see what else you do.
Interesting idea. I think I'll be trying something like this. Might have to cut little holes for the tracking sensors...might be a drawback of the system

Not sure how the sensors would handle the obstruction. Out of curiosity what made you choose the anti latency system over something like Vive Mars?

I would like to ask you some question, i'm thinking about to buy a tracking camera system, i've been thinking Mo sys, Retracker bliss or similar, not so expensive, what do you think?? Well ive only used vive trackers and the antilatency system from the video. Antilatency takes a bit of time to set up but you only need to do it once. Downside is that in a small room its hard to film a full bodyshot without blocking the sensors on the floor.
Vive was just okay but so much more of a hassle.

Bliss tracker is your best bet for the moment.
You also can do focus and pull but that needs to buy other stuff, bliss is only for the cam tracking atm.
Best part about bliss is the portability, you can go anywhere you want.

In the final synced footage there is jitter going on, is that because you handheld the camera or is that a jitter from the tracker, or something that comes from the different movements of the tracker on tge camera and the camera Ibis?
It is possibly either the extra shaky handheld or lens image stabilisation. definitely more testing needed.
i dont know antilatency but i know that there is some Kalman filtering going on in most cases wich also means that if it's enabled and your handled you will notice some jittering.
At 6:40 when you say that you could use a greenscreen floor, I think isn’t a good idea as you would block the trackers 😅

Yooo, this video was great and very concise 🙌🏼💪🏼 I have question however, I checked out their website for pricing but it’s just way too confusing. Can you list the exact components that were sent to you to get this setup working? I could then go back to their site and price accordingly 🙏🏼
I think the best thing to do would be to reach out to them on email. You could even mention the video to them and I'm sure they'd be better at recommending a setup than me.
Pricing for the minimum setup of a 10m2 floor base and all required to track one camera was with shipping around $2700
I think the total value of the gear is around 2125 USD

The tracking setup was on loan to me so I'm not sure. I think pricing is on the Antilatency website.
Hi there, I'm looking at the Aximmetry option but concerned about the technical set up required as it seemed you ran into quite a bit of trouble setting it up. Any chance you can do a walkthrough on how you got it working? You do mention a few plugins & other software to use, but I didn't see a tutorial link. Any help would be awesome, I've been looking a the VIVE Mars CamTrack $5K kit, but do like the floor tracking option & seems Aximetry has been used in more professional applications- but seems like a more challenge to set up as it's not really a plug & go option.
Also how much processing power do you need to do all the tracking & the Unreal live playback? Thanks :)
The live tracking doesn't take much extra processing power as far as I know. Antilatency does take a bit of setup but once you've done it once it is very easy to use again and again. I will have to make some more detailed tutorials.

Great, I am very new for this but how green screen is converted with some background which you are showing. I heard that we need big led screens for that.
We don't needed LED walls to comp in a background. The process is called chroma keying and it's been around for longer than I have. Nowadays you essentially remove the green (key it out) with software like after effects and put your new background in its place.

What do you need to know? Its a system sold by Antilatency, that's what does the tracking.

Hi there. I started out with a setup like this and theres a lot of pros and cons. If you want to see the results I got there's a short film on the channel called A Stitch in Time.

It is real time camera tracking and back projection via unreal engine.

It was a fair few years since I did it so I'm sure the approach in Unreal has changed since then. But I used a short throw projector on the floor with about two metres between the projector and a white sheet.
Hi Joshua .did you fixed about delay .because i considering to buy this solution(Antilatency) is this problem may be about Genlock sync timecode input to UE? Delay Now it serious for me
I believe the delay is fixed by hving a caoture card with genlock but I dont have the hardware for that.
@@JoshuaMKerr not right delay is fixed by tweaking the delay (for me in ms) directly inside UE. Usually you see the delay and you adjust by panning quickly right or left and ajusting delay if there is some.
I'm in the process of deciding what kind of VP system I'm going to buy, and I'm leaning a bit more towards the Vive Mars system. I thought $5000 would be hard to beat. If you don't mind me asking how much did this system cost you?
For live streaming you would need additional hardware like a camera state tracking system to get rid of the camera image delay. That puts the Mars system in front of the Antilatency system for me, because everything is included.
The system was sent to me to try so im not sure on the cost but I think the whole system would run around 2k. think id be able to solve the video latency with a decklink capture card (im only using a camlink) and the ose only cost around 500 tops. So overall it could be half the price of mars...but seriously Im not totally sure.

A spray bottle with warm water will take out the creases better then a steamer. You may need to wait for ti to dry, but it's a much faster process.

Is this possible even if the camera doesn't have genlock? How is that possible? My English is not good, so I may not understand well even after watching the video.
The footage and background are synced in post so no need for genlock.

Your leds are rgb, turn them to green you'll get far better results lighting the screen that way
I have been since this vid. Although so far I think kelvin 3600 gives equally good results.

Love the idea of the antilatency gear… but shipping to the UK costs more than the kit so I think I’ll pass.
That's fair. Luckilly there are more affordable options. I used to use Vive for live tracking and the results were fine.

You're not wrong. The same result can be acheived for less with basic vive trackers and base stations. It's just less stable and more of a chore to setup each time
