    Learning how to weld is a huge interest of mine lately. I had no idea it could be so affordable. I loaded up the majority of the equipment used in this video was purchased on ebay for under $250. I settled on the Hitbox HBM1200 with the ability to weld, flux core, stick and lift tig. In this video I covered my first experience welding with the hitbox HBM1200 using the Flux core welding function. I had a great time learning how to weld and looking forward to many more exciting projects to do for my drift wagon build. #welding #beginnerwelding #ebaywelder #hitboxwelder

    I bought a Hitbox when my son asked for an Xbox. He is 10yrs old and I can see his own pride of craftsmanship starting to bloom. Not happy or satisfied with an ugly or “good enough” weld. These welders are a win/win. Fuckimg around and learning the very basics. Keeping within its intended use/capabilities. Not a replacement for a professional welder.

      Absolutely not a replacement for a high quality welder but man getting someone started on a fruitful path so early is an amazing story. Great parenting! Keep that up!

    When there's slag let it drag. Don't push when welding with flux core wire. Always pull

      Right on man. Enjoy it it's a ton of fun for sure. As for the settings there wasn't much. I had to do a little research on the relationship between Voltage and Amperages to wrap my head around how to get a better weld. From that info I have gotten better at tuning the machine. Also I have learned to let the machine rest a little so if I weld for 10-15 minutes let it rest for 20-30 minutes.

    Hey my friend how are coming along I'm having fun w/ mine ... learning lol.
    I wanted to ask if you used 220v. Idk about the adapter. my 220v (dryer) outlet is different...

      Going pretty good on 110. I haven't tried it 220 yet. My plug is also different. But I do have some other videos where I made my own muffler delete(meh Still learning but functional) and actually welded 2 of my own differentials and they are holding.

    Keep practicing. I went stick. Welding is a lot of fun. If you're seeing red then maybe your helmet is not good enough.

      Thanks man. Yeah I eventually got the helmet dialed in. Since then I have managed to make my own muffler delete and weld a couple diffs. Super fun and functional.

    Howzit going bruddah? I just got my hitbox today. Turned it on to see if it powers up. I wanted to ask about the voltage knob on the left. Does it show up on the display? Or how do you know what the voltage is. I dont get any reading of it. Lmk. Aloha .

    • @DriftSanti
      @DriftSanti  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not that I ever noticed. Its always been the amps only. With some practice the voltage has a very noticable effect. Find an amperage that melts well for the metal then think of volts like how hard the machine will punch through.

    • @alexjuvy475
      @alexjuvy475 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DriftSanti ok... I saw a video that said having the right voltage and amps is huge on how well your weld will come out. Mahalo my friend, create, build and enjoy. Aloha

    • @DriftSanti
      @DriftSanti  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on a bunch of things like the material, thickness, how clean the material is and so on. But I have found running the fairly hot has been working for me lately. I am still on 110 but I just welded a diff on flux core no problem.

    This welder claims that it can TIG. Mostly the videos made on this machine is how to use MIG and MMA which is common. I'm sure viewers would like to see it's TIG performance!!! Unfortunately no one shows it.

    • @DriftSanti
      @DriftSanti  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You are 100% correct in pointing this out. I think the reason is most of the buyers are hoping to just get a few things done around the home or small project for cheap. But I promise in the next 3 months I will be trying out the tig function and there will be videos on the subject.

    • @mattdudley3789
      @mattdudley3789 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s because any DC stick welder has the capability to do lift tig. It’s not really a feature. Once you get into argon, your running it on MiG. Nobody really finds practicality in tigging on a scratch start/ lift tig. Stick is where it’s at with that. FWIW a Hitbox 200D mini goes on sale for $60 frequently. I have one and it does work. You don’t expect it to

    Can this run on a 15A breaker?

    • @DriftSanti
      @DriftSanti  ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest I dont know worst case if you know what a breaker is you can learn to swap it to a 20 also. The world is your oyster.

    • @thedragonforce1001
      @thedragonforce1001 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DriftSanti never swap a 15A to an 20A. the wires doesn't have the good gauge for that. you need at minimum 12GA of wires VS the 14 you probably have in your house.
