I believe that when a speaker is engaging, that time doesn't matter all that much. Some people are preaching too long when they've spoken for 15-20 minutes. There are others that you never want them to stop speaking because they are highly gifted or anointed. I heard Leonard Ravenhill speak many years back, and I believe he preached over 1.5 hours. I wanted him to continue. Today, I often listen to Dan Mohler, Todd White, and others, who are highly anointed and gifted. Those are some others who I want to continue.

We agree. Engaging speakers are the exception. People often point to podcasts like Joe Rogan's and say, since he can have a conversation for 3 hours, maybe we were wrong about keeping things shorter. The bottom line is that his content is very engaging. The vast majority of us could not keep an audience engaged for 3 hours. As pastors we often do the same. We see world class preachers who can engage audiences for over an hour, and assume that we should do the same.

My goal for every sermon is 30 minutes. I walk through (practice preaching) the message to time length and for editing purposes as well. Great content on your channel.

This is great "seeker friendly" content. I use to do the same. Keep my messages shorter, why, because "Church growth" experts said you can only go 30min. These are the same people who say you can only reach people who are within 20min of your church. this is absalutly false. I preach roughly 45 min to an hour every Sabbath, and our church continues to grow, we have people who attend our service from differnt states, and that live well over an hour away. It is not about the time, its about the content. If the Spirit is leading you and its changing lives. If you are peaching to the applause of man, than yes, keep it short, When we have people who will spend two hours watching a movie or longer listiening to podcasts then we as Pastors can teach longer than 30 min. Dont buy this hype. Speak what God is telling you to speak.

Appreciate the comment. Honest question - does the Spirit ever lead you to preach shorter messages? Or is it always longer? Do you think He might lead some to preach messages under 30 minutes?

Amen. Let the spirit of the Lord lead you and your sermons. Remember that night when the apostle Paul preached the gospel? It is the spirit of God that captivates the People's hearts.
