Did I miss anything? Let me know what else you think should have made the list... Oh, and all links to the items mentioned are in the description as well as the squat rack attachment compatibility guide
For cardio, I would recommend a Concept2 rowing machine. I come from a long line of cheap people, but it was worth the money. I walk, run and bike outdoors, but if I'm doing cardio inside, it's on the rowing machine. Right now, I'm working on being in the million meter club for the 5th time. With 4.5 million meters on it, I have not had a single issue with it. They are built like tanks. I made last year's winter challenge, too. A hundred thousand meters between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That raised a whole 2 bucks by me for my charity. LOL.
That’s great advice! I definitely think finding something that works for you is the key- and when it is a bigger purchase using a commercial gym to test out equipment so you know what works for you is always a great way to figure it out. Appreciate the comment!
@@stronghomegym You're absolutely right, an airbike is nothing for a budget-friendly home gym! A rowing machine is really much better than a skipping rope!
Thanks for bringing up the notion of 'indoors' cardio. I personally found that besides the jumping rope, I also really enjoy doing jumping jacks! I usually do 90-second intervals, and repeat them 4 times with 1 minute rest. In 9 minutes, I've got myself a pretty decent cardio drill :)
Oh goodness! Thanks for reminding me about the jump rope... have one around here somewhere. I personally love rebounding as cardio (but I guess a rebounder or trampoline wouldn't make it onto your cheapie list). Brilliant video - you have a great sense of humour and that British accent rocks.
Excellent video. I have been working out at home for about 3 months now with just two sets of dumbbells. It’s probably about time I start looking into more equipment that helps me get into more shape. Thank you for sharing and keep providing your great videos.
Glad it helped Tom! Hopefully it gives you more insight into what you can get. I’d prob recommend resistance bands to add to what you have… just super helpful for cable types of lifts- ideal for face pulls etc
This video introduced me to quite a few new home gym options that I never thought about like the cable and pulleys, and the weight bar pads, kettle weights and the dip bars. I would consider adding them to my home gym. Btw, what do you have invested in the rest of your home gym with the weight rack, bar, weights, ect.
Glad it helped you can see exactly what else I have from the 24 hour challenge to build a home gym for under $1k… th-cam.com/video/_ZUXBVjXlMU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=K0tOcRyQMkBWvdgW
I personally love kettlebells, much more than weights, as somehow I can hold on to these much better and they are more flexible to use because I used to have a broken/frozen shoulder, these are more hand able, and yes affordable haha!. Thanks for the other affordable ideas, time to shopping for some more variety :-)
That's great! I've recently started doing my shoulder press with one kettlebell at a time instead of a barbell... my shoulders feel so much better than they did a few months ago and I think this is a big reason!
A very good video man, some crazy amazing editing skills. I have started gym at home and this video has come at the right time. I also did know about weight lifting shoes, very insightful.
It’s one of those “it depends” answers. Barefoot vs running shoes is normally better due to the soft soles. I’ve heard if you have wide feet you may prefer it… but it will come down to your ankle mobility and limb length etc. some people love barefoot squats, but most people will benefit from proper lifting shoes to lift their heel slightly.

1:37 Yikes, danger! You never know how rotten a tree limb is on the inside, and the way you find out is the hard way
Haha yeah that would hurt! You sound like a man speaking from experience there? 😅

A skipping rope is really good for the cardiovascular system. But not good at all if you have knee issues... So, I prefer air bike
Yep super valid! It struggles to make it on a list if budget items though- how do you get on with a rowing machine with your knee?

Great tip! I also quite like the 3-2-1 (3 press ups, 2 burpees, 1 pull up) and repeat 10 rounds as quick as possible

Haha thanks! British accent for the win ;)

Ah thanks! Glad the bit about shoes was helpful… it makes a huge difference for heavy squats in particular- I didn’t realize until I got them
Is lifting barefoot more stable than running shoes?
