It's amazing how much you have changed over the years. I remember when you had black hair and knew nothing about makeup to someone who started going on trips with brands to today where you have grown and progressed so much and know so much about makeup, fashion, relationships, life etc. LOVE YOU LYDIA

I only had my first boyfriend when I was 20. we‘re still together, going strong for 3 years. I think it really helped waiting for that long, I had already figured out who I was and who I wanted to be.

I don’t want kids, never have. I knew at 3 (according to my mom) that I didn’t want kids, I was going to get a degree, and I wasn’t going to live in England. I’m 42, have a degree and have lived in Sydney for 18 years. I still get people asking me when I’m having kids, I’ve literally had people gasp in horror when I’ve said I don’t. It’s my choice, but people should be mindful that some people have issues and can’t have children. That question possibly breaks them on a daily basis.

    • @hannahclarke2611

We could be lifestyle twins! From the UK now in Sydney. First one in family to get a degree and am still iffy about kids. I love adventure too much!

The same thing happened when I got married. And I have a step-daughter. But people were so incredibly rude about it. Sometimes they were so rude that I thought about saying that we had one but they are gone now. I am older now and realize that not having mutual children has made my husband and I never argue about one, be railed at and rebelled against, or worried about their choices, actions or decisions. It's been damn good.

This video is my favorite i think! After my break up with my first boyfriend i realised exactly what you said. There are certain relationships that steal your sparkle, even not intentionally, change you for the worst, that when the break up takes place it feels so liberating ! I will never forget that freeing feeling! I think I felt better than ever, and trust me I cried so much.. But it was necessary for me to happen I think. I learned to appreciate and love myself. I really found myself and started to enjoy my life like for the first time. That is when i met the most amazing person! What you exsume, you attract! That;s my moto!

Sound advice, i think most people have had their hearts broken and been in relationships that were not good and toxic, but it makes the people that we are today. If anyone is going through a bad breakup, it does get better, you will love again, make the most of friends and familly get closure and you can move on. 👍

Very wise words, Lydia. I really appreciate your comments on not asking people if they’re going to have children. Having gone through soul destroying infertility myself, I died inside every time someone asked me, however well intentioned. It’s unkind and nosy, and people should know that by now. Btw, I adopted my beautiful son so the story has a happy ending, but not everyone has one. Thanks for being so wise and wonderful. ❤️

Hi Lydia, I LOVED this, so interesting! I’m just wondering how you would feel about doing a part two with Ali and Carrie as you all have had such different experiences yet you have all ended up together somehow. It just really intrigues me as me and my friends can often have similar experiences and I almost think we feed each other’s unhealthy habits and it’s a huge reason we all keep repeating them. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for everything you do xx

Stella, I know this is cliche but where one door closes another one opens. Try to focus on some goal in your life that you want to go after. Leave that person in the rearview mirror until you can turn around and really see them and the relationship or what it was. File that info in the back of your mind and move forward. Try to move forward everyday even if it's just teeny tiny steps. You are meant for good and great things. 💞❣️🙏

    • @bigsisterlifeadvice1787
      @bigsisterlifeadvice1787 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I'm sorry you're going through that. BUT, why would you want to be with someone who does not appreciate you? You deserve to be adored and treated like queen. Give other, better men a chance to enter your life. Stop crying. Stop the self pity. Focus on your hobbies. Reconnect with your friends. Don't talk about the guy. Don't waste your energy on him anymore, use it for yourself.

I have been trying to conceive for 6 years, me and my partner are healthy and both have clear results from fertility tests. We even went for IVF last year which failed, it was my last resort and hope in having my own family. Till this day it breaks my heart to see everyone I know have the one thing I thought was a guarantee in life. Turns out it's not and to hear someone who is so thoughtful to understand that really touched me. I wish us as humans would be more considerate to others. If only people had your mentality the world would be a better place. P.s this is the first time I've ever commented on anything... Thank you for making me believe in kind people again.

I brooke up with my boyfriend of 15 years back in december 2019. He is now my best friend, he supports me so much better as a friend. He is the best X you could ask for. So I don’t agree with the ‘cut them out of your life’ part. But maybe it is because of the length og our relationship and the fact that I was the mother of his daughter for all those years (she is not mine biological)

Lydia you done an awesome job of answering these questions. I am 54 and I can see that no matter the age it’s still relatively the same. Except of course for me social media wasn’t a situation to deal with. But let me say you and I were the same when it came to break ups. The part I liked the most was when you said you think you will never get over it and you feel like it’s the end of the world. But there’s something better coming and there is! And now that I’m older I’m like would I really not want to have experienced that because had I not I wouldn’t have grown. There are some people who fall in love and have never been with anyone else, but I truly think that’s rare and I have even seen friends who did and are now divorced and having lots of family issues because now you have children and grandchildren involved. KUDOS to you for speaking about this! 🙌🏻😉🧡

Last April my bf of nearly 5 years abruptly ended the relationship, just cut me off, it was done, no explanation or discussion, absolutely no closure. The past year has been such a rollercoaster trying to process the million questions I have and accepting that I'll never get answers, and even if I did, they wouldn't be good enough and would probably just cause me more pain. I've been struggling with my career and with work so the timing couldn't have been worse. Now I'm coming up on the first anniversary of the relationship ending and I can feel all the emotions resurfacing and I'm still burned out and unable to process it. I definitely related when you talked about how sometimes a relationship ends and you look back and see how you'd changed yourself for that person, and not for the better. Looking back I can see all the red flags and all the things I would do differently and will never do again in a future relationship. I don't have regrets but I also struggle with wondering how I'll ever give my trust again because I loved him so completely and it still wasn't enough for him. I know that's a reflection on him, not on me, but it's still hard. This was really helpful to listen to, just having some validation that it's not just me who is going through/has gone through this kind of pain.

Your story is spot on the same as my girlfriend's, he was her highschool sweetheart, they were together for like 10 years and he just dissapeared, like that, no closure, no nothing. It's almost a year too and I see that she's still hurting. But trust me when I say this: it will all pass and you'll be happy again, Probably way happier than you were with that other person. He didn't deserve you and you deserve the world.

I had a very, very similiar situation to yours once and I think it's completely okay to sometimes still struggle and ask yourself questions about the relationship. Healing always takes time... But I always believe that your perfect match will come around some day and you won't even ask yourself these questions anymore. Just wanted to let you know :) xx

Kei-chwan thanks, I’m sorry your friend is dealing with this but it helps knowing I’m not the only one. I definitely deserve better, so I know it’s for the best, it’s just so hard in the meantime. ❤️

Interesting to hear you talk about your first boyfriend, who was older and broke your heart. My first boyfriend was pretty much the same story... Older, every girl liked him... broke my heart and I also thought that would end me, so I completely get what you felt 😉. Also took me a couple of years to get over it and the worst part was him flirting or even dating some girls I knew, so it was really in my face all the time too. Funny to think about it now.
