Before you look at vintage story and think "gah, another minecraft clone." I'd like you to take a step back and calm down, and think, and read this comment before dismissing it. As a person who has god knows how many thousands of hours in minecraft, and is quite frankly tired of it, I am perfectly fine playing vintage story, and have no plans to revisit minecraft anytime soon. Vintage story has more interesting survival mechanics. The way that food, forging, farming, and mining work are far more immersive than Minecraft. The crop rotation is interesting, but not overbearing. Beekeeping is necessary for higher-tier light sources. Several materials are absolutely critical to be farmed, such as flax fiber, and leather for backpacks, windmills, and bows. Going on exploration trips takes planning, due to a limited inventory that can only be expanded by using one of several teirs of backpack. The color palette is interesting, and diverse. This combined with vertical slabs, and chiseling mechanics right off the bat makes for far more interesting building than was possible in minecraft. PVP has potential due to the interesting stats on the various tiers of armor, where metal armor slows the wearer down. And don't even get me started on performance. Minecraft's performance is notoriously bad for what it is. Tyron and his dev team are skilled programmers, who understand modding and performance. The install and launch of their game is simple, and not overloaded. Modding really is simple, and well documented. All of the games features are well-documented. Macros are built into the game, in addition to QOL mods that most people use in minecraft these days, but have yet to be added in, such as a minimap and waypoint system, built-in in-game world-edit tools, a world-generator menu that truly does put minecraft to shame, and an incredibly granular system of permissions for admins and moderators. I really cannot emphesize enough that modding vintage story is incredibly easy due to incredibly good documentation. They take player feedback incredibly seriously, with tools and hooks being added for modders as fast as additional content is being added. It's an incredibly interesting game, with a firm grounding in real-world technology. It has a lot of potential, truly, to outshine minecraft, and should not be dismissed offhandedly as "just another minecraft clone with a bad dev team." The dev team is excellent, and it's not another minecraft clone.
I could see how this may be interpreted as modded Minecraft, but even just the basic mechanics seem sooo much more in-depth. I saw once a suggested update to Minecraft, which had a main suggestion of a living, interactive world, not the cold dead rolling hills we get. This is precisely that.
Looks like all sorts of games are coming out of people who were involved heavily in the Minecraft community. While Hytale focuses on the downplayed combat aspect of Minecraft and starts becoming a high-fantasy ARPG adventure, Vintage Story focuses on the downplayed survival aspect of Minecraft and starts becoming a survival horror game. This is great to see, even if I don't think I'd be able to be too invested in such a technical game. I am still interested in how the game handles soil, minerology and metallurgy. Speaking of aspects of Minecraft, it's only a matter of time before we start seeing a low-fantasy ARPG dungeon crawler that focuses on Minecraft's downplayed randomly-generated structures.

From what I can tell it is actually from the devs of a minecraft mod called TerraFirmaCraft, it looks so amazing as a standalone game made from the ground up to support it's original design and intentions instead of being limited to Java Minecraft you can accomplish so much more so easily with your own game, especially when Minecraft updates rework the backend of mods meaning porting them forward/updating them really tedious. As a massive fan of modded Minecraft words cannot describe how seeing this game come from such roots take on its own form and be so beautiful.
This looks like it has a great chance at becoming a direct competitor for Minecraft. Which is great, Minecraft really needs the competition, the devs have gotten lazy and complacent. Although this looks a lot more in depth, looks good for a try.
I was thinking the same thing. If mojang doesnt step up their game, they might be in real trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if I was proven wrong, but the only group I see this being a miss with is young kids who dont want to do all that extra work. It would be cool if this game could figure out a way to put npcs in there as well like the minecraft villagers, but a lot better lol. That's my only drawback is unless you're playing on a server, it's too empty.

Minecraft With Elbows is both creepy ('cause of the elbows) and exceptionally intriguing ('cause of literally everything else). Despite the joke, it's obviously much, much more than a "clone." I hope it gets picked up and becomes a mainstay in the genre.

Knowing what even vanilla Minecraft does to this poor old potato, even older versions, you'd expect Vintage Story to be so much worse. This game runs like a dream, even on boosted settings.

Man this game is AMAZING. Exactly what I wanted. Peaceful like Minecraft and Stardew Valley, but with survival features.

Currently mobs do not inflict block damage, but it might become a thing in the future for the wilderness survival playstyle.

Next trailer mention the system requirements please. If more people knew how light it is, it might get the play it justly deserves (and it comes in with built in shaders and doesn't lag out my potato of a computer)
Knowing what even vanilla Minecraft does to this poor old potato, even older versions, you'd expect Vintage Story to be so much worse. This game runs like a dream, even on boosted settings.

The image card makes it look like it was supposed to be a clone of what Hytale is supposed to be.
After watching the trailer, it looks more like a medieval Ark but in a Minecraft style. Looks good peeps. Hope it turns out really good.

How do you change appearance? Am I some kind of zombie with that blue skin? I wish I could have more character customizations like skin color, sex, hair, and facial hair options.

@@voyteck7696 Hello !! First of all the game is in Early Access which means that it's constantly changing . As far as i know , the player customisation have been suggested and has been taken under consideration .
For Cows i can't tell you anything. Since there are plans for an mobility update , Horses may be added in the Game .
