  • Learning how to solve basic linear equations is critical in math, especially in Algebra. Many students struggle with solving equations because they don’t really understand how to solve more basic equations. This video will explain in detail how to solve basic algebra equations and will review how to use the Distributive property and combine like terms when solving an equation.

    I'm taking my 4th and final college math course in a week. I can do a lot of this stuff with my eyes closed, but it's so very important to keep this stuff fresh in your mind, so I watch math videos while I cook and eat.

    It’s not always fundamentals, “showing your work” can be extremely boring when you know the answer by looking at it. I understand WHY we need to show our work now that I’m in my 30s, but damn when I was in high school I was SO BORED doing these.

    Thank you for posting this video. I didn't do very well in algebra in high school but I did well in geometry and trigonometry and physics. Now that I'm almost 40 I finally have the courage to pursue the math behind the physics that I love. But I knew I needed to go away back in my fundamentals to understand better. So I'm studying math just as enrichment. It doesn't have anything to do with my job at the moment. But I just really love physics and I want to love math. I think with the freedom to focus my time the way I want to now that I'm an adult I will have a lot better shot at getting better at math. Thank you so much

    X + 2 = 4 - 2X = 6 2/3X = 5 2(X + 1) = 7
    X = 2 - X = 3 2X = 15 2X + 2 = 7
    X = - 3 X = 15/2 2X = 5
    X = 5/2
    and now ...
    2(X +1) + 10X = 4X - 6
    2X + 2 + 10X = 4X - 6
    12X + 2 = 4X - 6
    8X = - 8
