I'm telling you guys, Demon Hunter is your go-to band for some legitimate Christian metal. It doesn't get better than them. Can't wait for more DH reactions! 🤙
Yeah, I like Demon Hunter all the way back to their debut album, so that's cool with me. Not as big of a fan of the newest stuff, still gotta check out the most recent 2 albums.
@@herbivore7108 even Slipknot made ballads, i don't think it's a bad thing. if your trying to get your band out to more people, sometimes you need a song like this. ya it's not there heaviest stuff when it comes to Demon Hunter, but i think it's fine for what it is. for one thing, it shows that he can sing a song besides death vocals. they actually play this song live at different shows.
Honestly, there's a lot of good demon Hunter songs I think VinAndSori would enjoy. But good stuff. I'm just happy Demon Hunter got more spotlight on the channel.
For sure!!! “Storm the Gates of Hell” “Follow the Wolves” “Someone to Hate” They are like two different bands when they do songs like the three I mentioned and the one Vin and Sori checked out.
You guys are getting the full spectrum of Demon Hunter's style in 2 songs, not heavy instrumentally but obviously heavy lyrically. The music video for this song is very interesting, I would recommend watching that. It's basically a short film with a twist@ the end.
I LOVE that you both have a healthy and balanced ideal and outlook of music and not just a one sided or closed minded visual of a band or musician. We need that in this world.
I love this song! And I've listened to it many times. But I saw something I never saw before and it made tears run down my face. I always thought it was people failing people, which it does. But, the lyrics"I will fail you, of that I'm sure, I'll remind you of the pain forever more" it reminded me how everytime we sin, Jesus feels the crusifixtion pain he went through. We crucify Him over and over.
Cool to see more Demon Hunter. Still not Summer of Darkness Demon Hunter though. Good song, but if you want some heavier Demon Hunter with some still really good lyrics check out Our Faces Fall Apart, or if you want more soft stuff like this then My Heartstrings Come Undone, or for something in between, I Play Dead. Pretty good range of sounds, for a metalcore band.
I always tell people, is too never be surprised the capabilities of humans. always treat your friends, best friends, and family as if you dont fully 100% know them. because it will keep you from being surprised from something they did
This is such a powerful song. One of my favorites! another song that off of that album that is like that more melodic but profoundly deep is "The Heart of a Graveyard" if you want a "kick you in the face" kind of song with satisfying use of literal irony and a simpler but still meaningful point then the song that proceeds it on the album "Gasoline" is one of my favorites. Another Christian band that I really enjoy with high energy is Project 86 "Sincerely, Ichobod", "Fall, Goliath, Fall", "Little Green Men", "The SPy Hunter", and "My Will Be A Dead Man" come to mind as really good songs from them
first of all...much respect that you quietly react to the entire song for yourselves before you get into the discussion. most react channels instantly jump towards early conclusions and constantly pause the video. and your discussion that followed was also spot on. Kudos!
Jesus Built my Hotrod- Ministry Miracle Man- OZZY Osborne South of Heaven- SLAYER Trial by Fire-Testament Elysian Fields- Megadeth Broken Wings- Mr. Mister Burn in Hell- Twisted Sister
xDEATHSTARx are/were a christian band too and with Impending Doom on Facedown Records! They released one new song back in 2015 called 'Generation'. It is such intense and has christian lyrics!
Definitely check out some of the heavier stuff from Demon Hunter, “Not I”, “Sixteen”, “Our Faces Fall Apart”, etc. Also check out Phinehas and Wolves at the Gate.
I am a Children's Director and I love the way you explain, "original sin" and I love this song because it is real, not fake thinking of what a Christian has to be. Just be you, you will fail but that is what the cross is about.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLAY LIVING SACRIFICE! They are pioneers in christian metal and it still holds up. Listen to Flatline, Bloodwork, Symbiotic, and/or Imminent war. These guys have awesome songs. Lyrics are important
I resonate with what ya'll are saying regarding sons, etc. I hav a daughter and 3 sons. My youngest is named Hunter. My 1st born is Justice. Anyway, love Demon Hunter and your reaction to this song.
WHAT I LOVE about Demon Hunter is that Ryan Clark has always deftly walked the line of writing Christian lyrics without being preachy. Yes, he has lyrics wherein he name-drops God and Jesus and lyrics that only Christians can connect with, but he also has a lot of songs that secular people like myself can connect with as well. This is one of them, and I didn't like this song for the longest time because song titles that have the words "Fail", "Failure", or "Failing" in them make me feel really uncomfortable due to how much failure I've experienced in my life. However, I came around to this one a couple months ago actually and realized: "Yeah.... I WILL fail. I WILL disappoint. I WILL let people down...... BUT THAT'S OKAY." I hadn't been feeding myself the positivity that "IT'S OKAY" if I can't satisfy everyone, meet all demands and expectations placed on me, and satisfy the standards of others. I have a couple of learning disabilities, ADHD and NLD, both of which went undiagnosed for about 12 years. Nonverbal Learning Disorder doesn't mean I can't talk. On the contrary, I'm quite talkative, I love socializing, conversing with people, and it's quite hard to shut me up about subjects I really like. However, I have a near impossible time picking up non-verbal cues and unspoken language unless I know someone really well, and both dead pan humour and sarcasm go over my head. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has impaired my executive functioning..... I'll continue this comment later (have to run out to do some errands LOL), but I have a lot to say about what this song means to me.
This is what makes Ryan my favorite lyricist ever. He's written about some topics that many go through, but doesn't shove his faith down people's throats. He's incredible!
Therapy? - Me vs You Therapy? - Stories Therapy? - Callow Therapy? - Diane Therapy? - Screamager Therapy? - bowels of love Therapy? - Teethgrinder Therapy? - a moment of clarity
This was really good. Their sound reminds me a lot of Solitude Aeturnus, who are basically the American version of Candlemass. It has a similar epic doom metal sound.
Dana I was scrolling through all of the comments just WAITING someone to mention Living Sacrifice!!! They were possibly the first really heavy band of this caliber to represent Christianity in this genre, albeit a bit primitive at the time...them, The Crucified (kinda crossover HC/metal), and Believer (very techy/avant-garde) were bringing Christianity lyrically since the very early 90's, but it seems LS has stood the test of time and been somewhat accepted into many secular metal circles as they play many metal festivals with bands from all aspects of faith, including those opposing...
This singer is very talented. Love his voice. Kinda reminds me of Peter Steel's voice, from Type-O-Negative. They both just suck you in to what they are singing.
I think they'd like the heavier We As Human from the Until We're Dead EP more, more nu-metal. Very Korn-esque. Also a bit more straightforwardly Christian lyrically. But yea seems like a band they'd enjoy
Demon Hunter is my favorite Metal band in the history of the genre! I was so happy when you reacted to "Jesus Wept" and I'm glad you're going back to them. Vin, if you want something as aggressive as "Jesus Wept" then look no further than "Cross to Bear" and "Ash." Those are some of their most aggressive songs ever and you will not be disappointed! I'm sure it'll scratch your itch and I think they have enough groove and energy for Sori to enjoy, too. Ignore others who recommend a song that's not those two if you're looking for something heavy by them. Demon Hunter doesn't get any heavier than those two songs. The lyrics are harsh, the vocals are aggressive, and the instruments are heavy. Give them a go!
This is one of their best Ballads. But if you want true metal there are so many gems with Demon Hunter. Check out Storm the Gates of Hell, and Gasoline. Two of their best bangers

Here's hoping for more Demon Hunter, maybe something older like The Tryptich album
Or even older, Summer of Darkness was their best album in my opinion
Gaah!!! Why did they pick this song? Demon Hunter has some very heavy songs, instead they picked a ballad. Blehh
