    I saw this tour when it was in Los Angeles in 1983. He is one hell of a showman.

    Good morning, Sunshine! 🌞(From the "night owl" typing this in the wee small hours of the middle of the night.)
    Oh, the dramatic shenanigans of Prince! God bless his parents, because just imagine what he was like as a toddler! 😬😂
    His vocals are amazing! I think that you were referring to a backing track and/or auto tune. I've seen VERY few recordings (maybe just 2?) of Prince performing with a backing track (allegedly much to his chagrin), probably just because the venue wasn't equipped for live music or something.
    Stay blessed! 🤗💜

    There’s a video on my channel in the Prince Covering Prince series with this song that includes this performance and then 2 more live performances from the Jam of the Year tour in 1997 and Piano and a Mic tour from 4/14/16 just in case you’re interested. Also, Prince was so excited about that show he played in Atlanta a week before he passed, and he was planning an official release for that particular show. So if you want to react to something from that tour, I’d suggest listening to the full Atlanta show. Prince said he thought it was the best show he ever performed….which I feel like he thought that a lot about any art he just finished. 😂😂 But it is a great show. The mashup of Waiting in Vain and If I Was Ur Girlfriend is one of my favorite live recordings. And he adds some hilarious commentary throughout the show. 💜

    @malakiasplayhouse:
    Thanx sis. Figured u would. It's a B side w 1999 single. U should check out that version, just prince by himself, piano s a little softer, more echo in the song. History of this tour: Jill Jones was singing on this tour. Triple threat : prince, the time, vanity 6, turned out being battle of the bands, which is how purple rain movie came about. The time was blowing the revolution out in most cities, prince would give them less time to get ready, as they were playing for vanity 6 (unseen)
    Prince also started leaving the time off major markets, New York, and a few big cities. The time were hood guys, so the hood guys were coming to see them, disappointed when they weren't on the show. Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis got fired on this tour because they missed a show, producing their first record, maybe w S.O.S band, so the night they missed the show, it was prince on bass (mad) and Lisa on the keyboards playing for vanity 6. Somewhere in here Dez left the group. Prince made a song called "extra lovable" has prince doing all voices and instruments, tho he s shouting out band members, then he says "hey Dez, don't u like my band?" Wendy used to do soundchecks and tune the guitar, so one day prince asked her to fill in then join the band, this would've been towards end of tour. Piano and microphone album is originally called "intimate moments" u can find it circulating occasionally. It is part of purple rush boot leg. Around 1983ish. Features fast and slow piano Acapella prince you d enjoy. If u saw Black klansman movie, it features "Mary don't u weep" then goes into "strange relationship" those two songs are on intimate moments. Another dope reaction. Love when the band come in. U were jamming, u even had the raspberry cough at the beginning. Shared w peeps

    Yeah, there's no backing track and Prince didn't lip sync, unlike others. As he famously said, "My mike is on"... giving a pointed look at the camera

      For the most part that’s correct he always had a live mic. However, He did use saved tracks in the keyboards and the keyboard player was responsible for hitting it at the right time during a song. PRINCE had so many layered vocals that he did at times use recorded backing sounds and vocals. He was a masterful musician and composer. P was the GOAT.

    Malakia, I think you are referring to lip-syncing to a backing track or using pitch correction software. Love to see Prince on piano, great performance.

    Actually this song was popularized by Alicia Keys, there's actually a video of him and Alicia Keys doing a duet of this song on TH-cam when he was live in concert in LA I believe.

      The song was on her debut album. There is also a video of her singing the song to honor Prince. He was in the audience sitting next to Shelby J. And he was making faces while she was singing it. If I remember correctly Alicia was pregnant during that performance.
