It is funny how before every tournament the usual opinion tends to be that Croatia is either old or declining etc. Last year we finished top of Nations League A in front of France, losing to Spain in the finals on penalties and beating Netherlands in the semis in front of their audience. Yes the time is slowly taking over the likes of Modric and Perisic, but since then, Gvardiol and Kovacic went to M. City and became better players, Pasalic played a big role in Atalanta’s path to the finals (and they won it), Stanisic the same for Bayer that also played final and they were undefeated the whole season, Kramaric just scored hattrick against Bayern, Budimir was in top 5 strikers in La Liga this season and so on. But even without all of this, team spirit and pride our boys feel when playing for our nation lifts them up and makes them even so much better. So, I just wanted to say, I would not write us off yet, although, we like to be the underdogs and tend to play best when they underestimate us❤🤍❤️🤍
Everything true but just about Kovačić, he didn't become better at Man City, because it's the story of having Ferrari and driving it as Fiat, as Ibra said. Kovačić in Chelsea and Croatian national is a whole different player the under Pep's system. Now in City he just connects other midfielders and realeses the pressure by sending ball back. While in Croatia and Chelsea he was year after year in top 5 dribblers of the world and chance creating midfielders. For me Kovačić is the best number 8 in the whole world for past 4 years.
Feel like its either gonna be a run or collapse for you guys. There are quite a few players I rate in that squad but age is undeniably eventually gonna catch up to the squad. Keep your hopes up though, that team is still Croatia and dang solid.

I believe you will regret sleeping on Croatia. Since the beginning of their golden years they usually do not finish first in their group but do well in the tournament. Also look at the squad. Gvardiol is the best defender in the prem, Stanišić has been a unit for Leverkusen, Livaković is one of the most underrated keepers, Pašalić is one of the best players on Atalanta, and Kramarić is lethal in the Bundesliga despite his age and club (“Croatia do not have striker”). Also keep in mind Croatia have a crazy back line and have still managed to excel with their possession based style. Modrić may be old but ignoring his minutes whenever he does play he completely runs the pitch and that also means he is well rested. Zlatko Dalić is also one of the most informed and underrated national team managers right now.
Forgot to mention Kovačić btw who despite playing well has been largely ignored by Man City. He excels in keeping possession for Croatia. Not only that but he has very underrated ball retaining, dribbling, and a work rate.
Croatia is a great team however they are not as great in the euros as they are in the World Cup considering they have failed to get to the quarters since 2008, where there were only 16 teams
"Croatia is old". Lol, our squad's average age is 27, like most teams'. Most of our players are in phenomenal form: pasalic and stanisic just played the Europa League final, Gvardiol and Kovacic are doing amazing at City, Budimir almost finished top scorer in La Liga despite a few minor injuries, Kramaric just annihilated Bayern a few days ago. Most of our players are getting minutes regularly in their club competitions and are doing so very well. We play a possession oriented style thanks to our still very very strong midfield (although Brozovic still needs to be tested since he's been playing in Saudi Arabia this season and it is tough to judge the level of that competition), which is supported by a great back-line. Dalic just confirmed in an interview that Gvardiol will play as a LB meaning our back-line will be: Gvadiol, Erlic, Sutalo, Stanisic. Pairing that up with Livakovic in goal and our midfield, I think it won't be easy to score on us. The attacking part is always tricky but Budimir and Petkovic are playing well. We have some fresh players like Marco Pasalic on the wing etc. I like the fact that we're getting overlooked again bcs we play better that way. But it is still super funny to see people make the same mistake over and over again.
Not to mention that we played pretty evenly against Spain, which is a phenomenal team, during the Nation's League Final and that Italy has never ever beaten us, in history...

I’ve literally been so excited since last summer for this tournament and now it’s finally here! I’m part Portuguese and I honestly want them to win the whole thing. I know that England are the best team probably but I honestly think that Portugal can step it up and at least make the semifinals or more. P.S. this vid was very fun to watch, and I’ve been watching these videos for about a year now and I think they are very underrated. Keep it up man
England never win - France and Portugal are the biggest favourites, with Germany and Spain being likely contenders and I'd say maybe even Netherlands and Hungary in with a chance to cause a massive upset and win it. (very slim chance for the last 2, but crazier things, like Greece winning in 2004, have happened, and both of these teams are solid and currently in great form)

They're about as good as Portugal and slightly better than Spain or Germany, but considering the Southgate factor I'd see them losing to all of those teams. The problem with Portugal is that the players dont give their 100% on the pitch and they never play with good chemistry and to top it off is that the manager is Martinez who might be the worse managers in the Euros

I actually can't believe that there's still people who underestimate croatia despite what they achieved in the last 6-7 years. 2 wc medals, silver 2018 and bronze 2022, finished at top of nl group a in front of france and lost to spain in the finals on penalties, so silver. Quick note on how England lost those friendlies, in both games there were an insane number of injuries, 13 players were out. Against brazil, half the team was debuting. Against Belgium Englands entire first team defence was injured, half its reseserve defense, half it's midfield, 2 thirds of its reserve midfield, and Englands primary striker. Add to that the fact Belgium only scored because of mistakes England made.
England’s stats against Brazil was impressive in all metric except XG. No Kane Against Belgium, England’s stats were seriously impressive and but for 2 clumsy errors really should have buried Belgium, something I never thought was possible even probable.

Italy are more likely to be grouped than Croatia imo. Strikers aren't great, all the oppo's know how to play against Italy. Albania have key players playing in serie A, and Croatia are close cousins when it comes to style of play. Gonna be hard for the Azzurri to score against any of these sides, who know them so well. Ironically Spain might be easiest game tactically for them, but the Spaniards can also spank them the hardest. Don't see Italy finishing higher than 3rd (which may suffice for them to advance). Unless for another tactical masterclass, for which they are known for obv. I bet italy to not score at all in this tourney, because got 40 to 1 on it. Maybe the bet could land 3-5% of the time.

Would be very happy if Hungary did as well as you predict, but somehow I've got more chance of them losing to Italy than to England - just based on history, Italy has somehow been our jinx team, we could never beat them as far back as I can remember... England however, yeah incredibly strong squad of players on paper, but somehow England team always manages to be less than the sum of its parts as the 0-4 demolition by Hungary at Wolverhampton showed (then again they did win 4-0 in Budapest like a year before that, so depends on which England turns up...). Hungary on the other hand is one of the lowest-valued teams in terms of squad market value, but the team ends up being more than the sum of its parts thanks to 1. Rossi, 2. small nation pride power (same as e.g. Croatia or Albania) 3. Hungarians are football crazy and there is also quite a large contingent of Hungarians in Germany (not as many as turkish of course) and it's not far to travel, the supporters can add that extra player on the pitch ;) . On the other hand, as all "middle powers" in football, Hungary is unpredictable. On a good day we can beat any team (see last results vs. England and Germany), on a bad day we can struggle against Lithuania and Montenegro, so you never know which team will turn up on the day. But as you said yourself, we could even make it to semis with 2 upsets ;)

"Croatia is old". Lol, our squad's average age is 27, like most teams'. Most of our players are in phenomenal form: pasalic and stanisic just played the Europa League final, Gvardiol and Kovacic are doing amazing at City, Budimir almost finished top scorer in La Liga despite a few minor injuries, Kramaric just annihilated Bayern a few days ago. Most of our players are getting minutes regularly in their club competitions and are doing so very well.
We play a possession oriented style thanks to our still very very strong midfield (although Brozovic still needs to be tested since he's been playing in Saudi Arabia this season and it is tough to judge the level of that competition), which is supported by a great back-line. Dalic just confirmed in an interview that Gvardiol will play as a LB meaning our back-line will be: Gvadiol, Erlic, Sutalo, Stanisic. Pairing that up with Livakovic in goal and our midfield, I think it won't be easy to score on us. The attacking part is always tricky but Budimir and Petkovic are playing well. We have some fresh players like Marco Pasalic on the wing etc.
I like the fact that we're getting overlooked again bcs we play better that way. But it is still super funny to see people make the same mistake over and over again.
Not to mention that we played pretty evenly against Spain, which is a phenomenal team, during the Nation's League Final and that Italy has never ever beaten us, in history...

I’ve literally been so excited since last summer for this tournament and now it’s finally here! I’m part Portuguese and I honestly want them to win the whole thing. I know that England are the best team probably but I honestly think that Portugal can step it up and at least make the semifinals or more. P.S. this vid was very fun to watch, and I’ve been watching these videos for about a year now and I think they are very underrated. Keep it up man
England never win - France and Portugal are the biggest favourites, with Germany and Spain being likely contenders and I'd say maybe even Netherlands and Hungary in with a chance to cause a massive upset and win it. (very slim chance for the last 2, but crazier things, like Greece winning in 2004, have happened, and both of these teams are solid and currently in great form)

They're about as good as Portugal and slightly better than Spain or Germany, but considering the Southgate factor I'd see them losing to all of those teams. I actually can't believe that there's still people who underestimate croatia despite what they achieved in the last 6-7 years. 2 wc medals, silver 2018 and bronze 2022, finished at top of nl group a in front of france and lost to spain in the finals on penalties, so silver. Quick note on how England lost those friendlies, in both games there were an insane number of injuries, 13 players were out. Against brazil, half the team was debuting. Against Belgium Englands entire first team defence was injured, half its reseserve defense, half it's midfield, 2 thirds of its reserve midfield, and Englands primary striker. Add to that the fact Belgium only scored because of mistakes England made.

Italy are more likely to be grouped than Croatia imo. Strikers aren't great, all the oppo's know how to play against Italy. Albania have key players playing in serie A, and Croatia are close cousins when it comes to style of play. Gonna be hard for the Azzurri to score against any of these sides, who know them so well.
Ironically Spain might be easiest game tactically for them, but the Spaniards can also spank them the hardest. Don't see Italy finishing higher than 3rd (which may suffice for them to advance). Unless for another tactical masterclass, for which they are known for obv. I bet italy to not score at all in this tourney, because got 40 to 1 on it. Maybe the bet could land 3-5% of the time.

10:46 Actually, Italy also drew two games to North Macedonia and Ukraine, and that draw to Ukraine was quite controversial as a penalty could have been given to Ukraine for a late Italian foul. Had Ukraine won that final qualifier, Italy would’ve been in the play-offs, and who knows if they would’ve even made it to Germany. These qualifiers were really cut down to the wire for Italy.

Hungary on the other hand is one of the lowest-valued teams in terms of squad market value, but the team ends up being more than the sum of its parts thanks to 1. Rossi, 2. small nation pride power (same as e.g. Croatia or Albania) 3. Hungarians are football crazy and there is also quite a large contingent of Hungarians in Germany (not as many as turkish of course) and it's not far to travel, the supporters can add that extra player on the pitch ;) . On the other hand, as all "middle powers" in football, Hungary is unpredictable. On a good day we can beat any team (see last results vs. England and Germany), on a bad day we can struggle against Lithuania and Montenegro, so you never know which team will turn up on the day. But as you said yourself, we could even make it to semis with 2 upsets ;)
