I am soo happy to find you because my teacher first sees your video then he teaches us. His method and wording is just same like your one. Not only this topic but every lecture he delivers to us to me it is like i am seeing your video live.. May god bless you. Love from Pakistan🇵🇰
Thank you for this clear sequential explanation. I am not a scholar of biochemistry but I needed to understand the difference and relationship of bile salts and bile acids, since some of my reading sites one or the other and I had nothing to relate one to the other. This was perfect! A piece of basic metabolic chemistry uncloaked!
I wanted to say that you are very helpful and through your way of teaching and your video i think i have grasped the basic idea ( also the note for the medication that decreases the cholesterol reaaally interesting)
That's why when i took bile salts my testosterone was through the roof, but when i stopped my T dropped to normal, btw i eat a lot of fat, but i have problem with my gut flora so i can't recycle bile. Appreciate the knowledge.
I hadn't understood the difference between bile acids and salts until now. 6 years of degree in Medicine + 2 years studying for residence exam. Thanks a lot
Another way you can increase the amount of cholesterol that is excreted through the bile is by increasing the amount of fibers in your nutrition. Cholesterol gets traps in the fiber and continues its way through the intestine.
Isn't the small intestines supposed to be sterile? You said the microbes in the duodenum help process the bile and I question this information. If there are microbes there (not an ideal situation, as in the case of SIBO) the microbes might be doing that but I don't think that bile is designed to be processed in that way in the small intestines.
Hey AK lectures I have read somewhere that OH groups that are Alpha in orientation , lie below the plane of rings And methyl groups lie above the plane In the video you're saying vice versa Kindly correct me if I am wrong Thank you
What types of cholesterol does it remove because it is good to have high levels of HDL but it's good to have lower levels of LDL. I'm sure there are other types of cholesterol but not sure of those. But the HDL is for repairing damage on the arteries so if HDL is high then it's a good sign that the arteries are in good shape.
I find you are thorough and very technical. I find you to be the Steve Burke of the body. ..... I come from a tech world he is overly thorough and accurate with tech. It is a compliment. Thank you for this thorough explanation of bile and it's process through digestion. It helped me understand why I need to take supplements due to removal of my gall bladder. Thank You!
Hello AK Lectures Your videos are fantastic, I would really love to know where you got your sources for this video as it would come in handy for my dissertation.
Wondering the same here. It is very confusing what type of acid to take without causing much harm, I have a disfunctional bile forming sludge all the time, should i take cholic acid or ursodeoxycholic acid 😭
I’ve learned more BioChem from you than the Ph. D that taught the course. Salute to you for your work and clarity.
omg so true lol
I’m really happy to see you uploading regularly again. Keep up the good work sir! :)

Beta orientation is plane above orientation not below.

What makes the difference whether the galbllader is going to produce cholic or chenodeoxycholic acid?
Before you take bile salts should you try to increase stomach acid? Otherwise, the bile salts may neutralize the stomach acid, which you need?
Would this also be the case if you took a bile acid like TUDCA?
Do the glycocholic or glycochendrox- cleave glycerol from the Fatty acids in fat molecules?
I have extreme constipation due to painkillers for cancer. Will this help me? Any opinion welcome.
Do bile salts bind bile acids???
