To me, the little brother sounded older than the big brother in this game. I'm not talking about the pitch, but rather the base.
I really love how Arthur is looked up as a mentor and a brother figure towards John Marston. RDR2 really shows how John was before and what made him the way he is in the first Red Dead and Arthur Morgan really impacted John’s character
2 years later I’m sure you know this by now, but Arthur was just his brother not any kind of a mentor

I remember at the beginning of RDR2 when John is missing and Abigail asks Arthur to look for him, Hosea then urges Javier to go with him, to which Javier says something along the lines of “If I was in his shoes, John would go out to look for me” he was right John did go out and look for him, in a different way
Javier didn't really betray John, he just had too much faith in Dutch pretty much both games show that

Arthur really didn’t ask many favors of anyone throughout the story. He was usually fulfilling others happiness no matter how rough he could be with himself and others. In the end he only had one request, for John to leave and live a good life.
And it’s sad seeing John die at the end by the government cause of his past
And John can't even do that favor properly...
@@Philips_27 He was just doing what Arthur did for him, in the end. I think John felt quite guilty for Arthur’s death in a way, and you can tell by the strong reluctance he had to leave him. But he also respected Arthur enough to fulfill HIS final wish because Arthur was arguably a way better father figure than Dutch ever was. John Marston did what he could, but his unfortunate past from quite a young age caught up with him. He still fought for what was right in the end because that’s what Arthur would do.

@@QuestionableSprite American Venom is brilliant because it links the lonely western style RDR1 music to the grander and more epic music of RDR2. It represents the transition between Athurs story and Johns story.

@@ct737 Dynamite especially back then was incredibly volatile, and while yeah this scene was just for comedic effect, if the burning ash of a cigarette made its way into the wrong place, the dynamite would've blown both John and Arthur to kingdom come.
After all, they were carrying enough to blow up an entire bridge

Only 10 minutes of screen time but it feels like 50 minutes. Shows how impactful John and Arthur are
True, but there are more cutscenes with them in the game though. There are a lot of scenes that aren't in the vid.
There are many interactions between them that weren't showed here, for example their interactions in the camp as some of many...
5:20 will forever be my favorite part of this game. The immediate realization and then back to talking like they didn't almost blow themselves up.
"Arthur...you're my brother." That line feel like a punch in the gut. John sees Arthur doing all he can for him, and realizes if anyone in the game is truly family it's them. Arthur is literally sacrificing himself to give John a better life, and John has to accept it and move forward. Never could a man be more grateful than John taking the opportunity given him by Arthur. Such a tragic but beautiful story.

At the beginning of the game, Arthur talks about how John left the gang for a year and said something like "He kept riding and never looked back."
By the end, that's all Arthur wanted John to do: ride and never look back.

I played rdr2 before every playing rdr1 and John was always my favorite character besides Arthur. I didn’t find out John was the protagonist in rdr1 until I beat the main story, shit blew my mind

The twins at Clements Cove basically give the same spiel Hosea gave with Arthur when they're handing out Moonshine in Rhodes.

I think Arthurs hat should've been Johns hat from rdr1, so that way, there's a reason why he wears that hat in almost every outfit in that game.
People really want John to obsess over Arthur in every rdr scene John is his own character not Arthur’s lineage.
@@tylore944 John and Arthur were very close, John saw him as his older brother and looked up to him a lot, Arthur and John knew each other for 15 years, so him wearing Arthur's hat and never stopping to wear it makes all the more sense since he knows Arthur sacrificed his life so John and his family can live a life, John also feels guilty of not saving Arthur when he saved him.

Sad to think people don’t think Jon fulfilled his promise to Arther by the end of rdr1.. He undoubtedly saved his family and kept their flames carrying on (Arthur and John) through Jack. Neither Arthur nor John failed they lived their dreams and saved everyone who was close to them while righting their wrongs. Two of the greatest characters in American fiction period..

I was fanboying like hell, after seeing how brutally he went out it was bittersweet to see him again
I remember playing RDR2 and disliking John Marston for a while.
But eventually, I began to see him as a brother as well, and when Dutch claimed John died on the train, I actually said out loud, "JOHN, NO!"
It's amazing how Rockstar made the player connect with the characters as well, and I am still struggling to get how in the world I was able to start liking and loving John.

If you haven't gone to the incest pig farm before Arthur goes on his final ride. Drink the spiked shot from the sister when she offers it to you, when Arthur wakes up he'll be robbed of all his money- Normally you would ride back to the farm and kill the pair to take your money from the safe behind the portrait, but if you leave it will stay there. When you come back as John though continue the mission and kill the siblings to take your money back.

see i love both of them but i like john a bit more dont get me wrong i cried when arthur died but there is just something about john like i like his elegance more than arthurs brawns and just the whole arc of john building a small army to take down the fort and running around mexico defeating the army and the rebels single handedly and john just comes of as this deadly gunslinger where arthur comes of as a rough and tumble brawler personally i think john is more of a badass not to say arthur not a badass and john is the centre of the franchise if u think about it arthur was just a tool to tell johns story well that and coz rdr1 just feels like a proper spaghetti western where as rdr2 feels like a game that takes place in the early 800s

Here's what I don't get, Arthur keeps telling John to leave the gang for his safety and the safety of his family, BUT aren't they earning money precisely so they can disappear and be safe? But if that's not necessary, why don't they just all go the way of John and disappear right away?
Because they would be running away as a gang, each time they get more money they get in more trouble and higher chance of getting killed. Arthur wanted him to leave that life behind and start a new one as a regular man
