My father has VW Passat B6 2.0 TFSI Once car unexpectly stalled and didn't start again. In VW Service they said that there is hole in the engine and we need to pay 4000 E for fix that. Another time airconditioner was broken. In VW service they said 2000 E for fix because they must change whole airconditioner. I drive old BMW e39 1996 523i my car already is 17 years old and I don't do anything with it. Very reliable car and not corrode at all.
