That is not the expansion tank 3:56 The expansion tank is located in front of the car, where the radiator is at and you can check the level of coolant in it by looking at the dipatick that floats when you remove the cap And that is not wood, that s actually aluminium so please do better research before posting stuff on internet
I know that tank can develop a hair line crack, it is my incorrect knowledge calling it a coolant reservoir. My mistake. As far as the “wood” I know it comes with the darker wood trim so I immediately assumed that what I was looking at was an alternative wood trim. Thank you for this comment.
@@AutoMotivate happy to help That tank actually has fuses and electrical circuits and yes, it can crack and water can enter, which will give everybody a headache:)
So I literally have one of these, but sadly somebody ran into me and now the car is completely totaled like literally the front is completely gone. They hit the car so hard that it literally caused the engine to shift and cars totaled now and the person didn’t have insurance at all, so you can imagine how much of a fucking bitch it’s been to really try to get anything done about the situation but I finally got something done. It was definitely their fault they weren’t paying attention. Am I mad of course but what can I really do nothing. I just have to deal with it, but I’m quite sad but I have other sports cars that I can drive but I really loved driving this one
For me the one to buy is the 2.5si. It's got all the M stuff and the same tweaks to the engine to give a lot more power but with it being a smaller capacity it revs to 7000 very quickly. It's zingier. I moved from the M54 2.2 to the N52 2.5si and the difference was amazing. It was far more like my old MR2 MK2 rev3 with it's 3gs-ge that revved to 7250 and made 174 bhp. It made a whole lot less torque but in terms of excitement it was on point. The Z4 with and N52 SI engine feels like a sportscar. Luv and Peace.
I’ve got a 2003 3.0 6-speed, with the sport and premium package. The straight 6 is amazingly good. Biggest expenses have been a clutch, and rebuilding the power top mechanics. Finding an honest independent BMW mechanic is essential.
@@jarvis541 oh I agree!! My Z is so much fun, even though she’s only the 2.5!! So so much fun!!!!! I made a mistake on my original post though, I only have a 5 speed…I’ll have to edit my original post. I just noticed I accidentally typed 6 speed.
Awesome video man I had a 2003 2.5 automatic z4 roadster that ran great with 220k miles on it before someone ran a red light and hit me and totaled the car last September. I have a 2014 328i gt now and It’s great but I miss my z4 everyday
Cost you a lot to fix. All rubber gasket, o ring, brakes, engine and steering gears oil leak………😅 e85/e86 are already more reliable than other bmw models.
I had a 2006 z4 and what a money pit. Valve cover gaskets, oil housing gasket, lower control arm bushings, motor mounts, water pump, ignition switch, new headlights, new tie rods. Ac compressor. Other than that good car.
BMW could have made that convertible top motor a sealed unit that would be waterproof and wouldn't go out. It takes an average of 5 to 10 seconds for it going up or down that's not enough time for that motor to overheat! So... der Germans are not as smart as we thought 🤔
2003 2.5i with 5-speed. 90,000 miles Bought certified used in 2007 with 60,000 miles, from a BMW dealer. Did the big power top job a few years ago at BMW specialists, because the car is worth it. And repaired a minor cooling leak. Other than that, the only odd issue I haven't resolved is that when restarted in hot weather (after having been driven a while and parked) the engine revs up and down at startup, as if disconnected from the accelerator pedal. Just sits there rev'ing up and down. Turning it off and restarting it solves it. I've read that this can be a dirty mass air sensor? Anybody know?
I owned this exact BMW Z4 but with the red interior for 9 years. The car is a tank & the engine is bullet proof. All I did was keep up with 5k oil intervals & recommended maintenance thru out the years of ownership. Best car I ever owned.
I have had my 3,0 E85 since 2017. Got 100K miles on Clock . Total Repair cost approx 2,5K dollars throughout my ownership. ex regular service like oil change etc. Has been my most reliable ever, in 40 years of driving. Other people I know with same type car say the same thing.

The motor for the top can be used by an alen key if it stop working and is easy to use

Pretty sure the car you are in has the aluminium dash not some stained wood. My E85 has the same.

They definitely have their fair share of issues. I probably missed a few issues as well.
