      Been trying to reply to you vis a vis the Bering Land Bridge, but something in my reply was tripping up the Community Guidelines and when I edited my comment to add it to my original comment, it just deleted the whole comment thread. So I'll just post the article title here: "Late Upper Paleolithic occupation at Cooper’s Ferry, Idaho, USA, ~16,000 years ago" from Science. I'm not planning to argue this further, wrestling with unclear commenting rules for 2 days for a single comment is way too much time to spend on this, but I wanted to provide some evidence of my claims before I dipped.

    a small correction: Martin Harris didn't lose the first 100 or so pages of the Book of Mormon, his wife Lucy stole them and hid them. She basically said, "if you're really translating this stuff from an ancient book, you'll have no problem recreating these 100 pages."

    Couple fun facts:
    So the Celestial kingdom is actually further split into 3 levels, and only people married in the temple get to become gods. Also its only the men. The wives are just their husbands servants, not gods in their own right.
    I believe the other two levels are just. Men and women devided? But i honestly dont remember for sure about that.
    Second, Outer Darkness is only accessible to those who deny god to his face. So you have to literally see god and then betray him or deny he is god or something like that. So theres only a few souls there supposedly.

    • @mercury4885
      @mercury4885 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      the kingdoms of heaven are compared to the sun, the earth, and the moon & stars- Celestial is the brightest/best and where God lives with the people who got married in the temple, Terrestrial is chill and not really so bad (iirc it's supposed to literally be earth as paradise after the second coming), and Telestial is like. i guess you did your best lol.

    So true story here. I was raised Mormon, and when I first heard of Moroni visiting Joseph with an open robe, my internal mental image was of joseph kneeling before him, and playing with Moroni's "melchezi-dick" priesthood. The mental image wandered in and out of my head all throughout my teens and 20's.
    ..... I really should have figured out that I'm bi/pan sooner.....

    Something that absolutely needs to be said about Mormonism is that suicide is consider one of the greatest sins, I was taught that if you commit suicide you go straight to Super Hell (outer darkness) no saving throw. Which, as an ex-Mormon who's been suicidal my entire life, is a very fun bit of religious trauma for me to grapple with every time I ideate :)

    • @Mort-ko7lj
      @Mort-ko7lj 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Not Mormon specific unfortunately. Pretty sure it's in Catholicism as well that suicide sends you to hell. You couldn't be buried in a church graveyard if you committed suicide (although in the 1900's i know you could get around this by claiming the deceased was of unsound mind when they committed the act)

Too bad I decided to both be gay and suicidal, eh?

    29.46 reminds me of the time I was admitted to hospital from the emergency room and asked the nurse for a pad cause I was on my period. She *would not* take the word "pad" into her mouth. It was all "I'm gonna look for what you asked for" and "after you get settled I'm gonna get you what you asked for" and "I am gonna bring you what you asked for before putting in the IV". This all in the strongest Berlin accent, which is the German version of saying "Hey I'm walkin' over heeere". Like, girl, what are you being so formal for, I know you're gonna go eat Currywurst for breakfast after this?

    Mormonism is so bizarre because we know so much about it’s founder. Like a big pull of traditional Christianity is that it bases itself off of ancient esoteric figures, some of which may not have existed, like Moses, and some of which are basically universally accepted by historians to have existed, but who’s personality is shrouded in mystery, like Jesus and Paul the Apostle. With Mormonism we know SO MUCH about Joseph smith that it’s kinda insane that there are modern converts to it in 2024.
    Like imagine if all other religions had dirt on their founders like Mormonism does- like you go to mass one day and before the trans-substantiation the priest tells a sermon about that one time a 22 year old Jesus got thrown out of a Jewish settlement for cashing bad checks and selling bootleg Torah’s. That’s not far off from Mormonism.

    Ps, it's like nails on a chalkboard for me hearing Moroni pronounced wrong (the indocrination goes DEEP y'all). But the petty part of me is glad he got unintentionally dunked on like that. I mean, if Joe didn't want us to pronounce it "moron-i" he should have spelled it differently. You'd think god's bff would know better

      @@RespecttheDeadPodcast add me to that list. I prefer that camp. At least I'll be in good company with the Prophets of God. "Delulu baby" if he was delusional say schizophrenia and heard voices this you'd still be living up to your podcast name well done. At least you weren't part of false advertising.

    I can stay silent no longer: Caelan I think you need to know the way you say "no" (aka "nahrrr") sounds like my name and it throws me off every single time lmao.

      @HandyDandy6 Australian here and I both
      1. Know someone named Nor
      2. Know that most Aussies don't actually sound like that, because their name doesn't really register as like, "no" to me 😂
      But some Aussies 100% do sound like that and it is funny, we deserve that joke
