Pros of this video: - Since graduating college in W. PA 15 years ago, I miss that Pennsylvania twang - The lecturing on pin steel woke me up. I won't even THINK about getting an aftermarket pin now. Cons: - I can't actually see what you're doing. Close-ups would be nice, but since I've installed a LPK, I can infer what you're doing. The video overall is very helpful, and even if it's hard to get the kit installed, I can watch cool .mil photos in the meantime.
Installed my SSA-e trigger today. First one, took about 10 minutes. Video is a great help. Would be helpful to zoom in a little more on the hammer installation portion. Probably the hardest part. Took me a few minutes between looking at the angle of the lower and the installation pictures to figure out where the springs went. You guys make awesome products. Installed my mark 8 Mlok hand guard today as well. Super easy and amazingly well fitting. Super fast delivery on my purchase and thanks for the little extras. You guys are a class act.
Bill, your trigger videos are absolutely the best, bar none. You know what you are doing and you know how to instruct, you even take the time to explain 'why'. I'm the kind of person that if you tell me what to do, I'll remember it for 5 minutes... but if you explain 'why', I'll remember it forever. Thanks Bill!!!!!
Thank you Bill! You're very was very direct and straight to the point. Took me 40 minutes to install my SSA. LOL! Struggled with lining up the pin for the hammer. Learned! Installed the SSA-E today in just 15 minutes! Both triggers are awesome! Thanks sir!!!!
I've never built up a lower or installed a trigger. I just installed the SSA trigger in one of my AR's in my lap at my desk in about 10 minutes while watching this video. It is super easy to do with the slave pin. I was being extra careful and If I do it again I'm sure it would take no more than 5 minutes. Thanks for the video.
Could have better closeups, but the verbal description is precise enough for even a beginner. I've been back to watch this a couple times now not because I need a tutorial, but because it's a nice, mellow video to watch. Thanks G
Ouilty information spoken in a way that is understandable. High quality triggers and rails. I’m using all of your products all the way to your gas blocks. Also like the history and information about the reliability and laser markings for countability process. Keep up the great work and keep them great parts coming.
I can listen to Bill Geissele talk all day long, excellent video and even better trigger. God bless you Mr. Geissele, you trully are the man !

I just complete an install of the SSA-E trigger. No problem. No more than a light tapping on the pins. I am mechanically inclined, but this is the first trigger install that I have done. I did not have to remove the safety to replace the trigger. It took about one hour for me to complete. The alignment tool helped with the hammer install. Basically, no problems with the install. Now to the range to test.😀
Mr. Geissele, your pace of instruction and clear voice are excellent, but this instructional video calls for some clear close ups of the trigger and hammer installation. Between the video and the instructions, Im pretty sure my trigger is installed correctly, but Im having a really hard time with aligning the hammer spring. The picture in the instructions is no help at all. It looks as though I have to bend the legs waaaay back, and that makes sense to build spring tension, but Im afraid of damaging the spring without close up instructions. Im also not seeing where the grooves on the pins capture the spring and prevent walkout. Please take some closeups and insert that into your video. It is easy to do with Windows Movie Maker or the Apple analog. Thanks for making these videos. You are a great engineer. I am looking forward to buying the Tavor trigger. Please also make a trigger for the Sig Sauer P556 pistol (550 family of rifles).
I agree about the poor close ups, but, overall the video did give me enough confidence to do the installation myself. Loved the insight into the company.
Thank you for making a great trigger. I completed last year my authentic USMC MK12 MOD1 project but when it came to the FCG I did not go with the KAC. Instead I chose the SSA-E and haven't thought twice about my decision. It is the best AR trigger group I have ever used bar none!
And FWIW i've never disassembled or installed an AR trigger group. I had the SSA-E install done in 5 mins. That slave pin is an unbelieveably simple yet genius idea
Any chance of an updated version that shows what's going on inside the receiver during the install? Telling us what you're doing is one thing, but if you could zoom in and show it, that'd be really helpful...
this is an old video first shot at a time when a "skeletal jig" was not invented at the time. it did not exist in the industry. nowadays, anyone can buy a jig. and plenty of videos today exist, showing internals. a zoom could never show the physical install because the thumb has to come up and over to apply just the right pressure, covering the top of the cavity. do a search for "AR skeletal trigger jig". there was no budget to CAD design or even mill one. best regards.
+Thomas Rakip Yeah, this video convinced me to use my gunsmith. This video did not contain enough detail or macro shots and I learned very little from it.
Picked up my first Geissele trigger today from Kings Shooter Supply and installed it in about 15 minutes. I've never done any work on a AR before and this was pretty easy. I got the SD-3gun trigger. I lost my safety detent in the process though. Stupid small parts!
@TacOpsDaddy ... your nickel boron hammer is a mil-spec part. sister company ALG Defense makes the ACT trigger/hammer kit, based on Stoner's mil-spec design --algdefense-dot-com. Geissele Automatics custom kits depart from the mil-spec design, and the trigger/hammer must be properly paired for safety and function. we don't sell custom triggers separate from the custom hammers. fear not, the GA custom kits are hardened, twice cryogenically frozen, EDM wire cut with razor sharp sear surfaces.
Great installation video thank you. Loved this trigger (SSA-E) in my 5.56 AR15 but be aware this trigger will not work in a Tippmann M4-22lr and results in failure to fire even though the rim of the round appears to get hit pretty hard. Geissele customer service was informative but unwilling to accept a "used" trigger to be returned. Geissele also stated that the trigger would eventually be "destroyed" if used in this firearm! Please find a solution to adapt this excellent trigger for 22 use.
Oh, yes, that's correct now. I completely forgot about the "slave pin." To get it aligned takes practice. There is a video on the geissele.com eCommerce site where you see the use of the slave pin during Bill Geissele's installation of the National Match / DMR / Service Rifle trigger. Brownell's web site should have the same video. There is a unique tool as well in the event you lost the slave pin. I'll ask the boss about it.
At least the slave pin is not black! Lol, I had too. In all seriousness thank you for the video, the SSA is my first Geissele trigger and from what I hear won't be my last.
I put one in my SIG MPX works great nice trigger makes a mag dump quick and pleasant i find it is easy to stay on target even with fast finger action .
Just installed an SSA-E in my lwrc spr. Could not be happier! Like it is noted though, if you plan on it being a weapon that could be used for SD, then the enhanced version is not for you. A 3.5 lb trigger is too light for a SD rifle if you ask me. Get the regular SSA if its a shtf/SD rifle. But for paper punching or hunting the E is beautiful.
just installed ALG QMS and then an SSA. Will be interesting to see how they shoot. Hope to buy an SSA at to replace the QMS if I end up liking it better. Thank you for giving detailed product info and tips about install. Pins tight, but once aligned, bingo. I am confused by the difference in the QMS pins (three scorings on the pins) and the SSA pins (only two and offset). You say in this video which way the pins are installed on the SSA doesn't matter, I hope I have not made a mistake.
sister company, ALG Defense, manufactures the ACT-- ALG Combat Trigger-- which consists of a mil spec trigger configuration, with contact surfaces cut razor-sharp with EDM process (no stoning required), with trigger nickel-boron-ed and hammer nickel-teflon-ed. SSA on the other hand is not mil spec. to get the max trigger performance out of the AR15 platform, the SSA had to evolve from the mil spec design. your Fail Zero hammer is mil spec, while the SSA is custom, cryogenically tempered twice.
Ordered one of these yesterday. It got here today(I love living so close that I get one day shipping all the time from MidwayUSA with ground shipping). Took maybe a whole ten minutes to install, and that is including trying to get the grease in just the right spots. If I don't count the time the grease took, it may not have even taken 5 minutes. And the feel of this trigger is amazing. I wonder if it will get even better as it breaks in?
@rodney... You'll have to confirm with CMMG if their lower receiver uses the mil-spec AR trigger. If it does, then you can upgrade the mil-spec AR trigger to a Geissele custom AR trigger. Best of luck!
Could use more zoom close ups on the instillation. Could see when you talked about the slave pin sticking out and pin not all the way in. Couldn't see the hammer spring placement on trigger pin. Thanks though keep up the good equipment
I've done 2 Geissele trigger installs. 1 on a DPMS G2, the other an RRA ar15. Both rubbed on the safety and I had to grind down the safeties. No big deal, but I'm 2/2.
I have a fail zero with the nickel boron hammer. What trigger kit do I order from you for this? I want to keep the hammer that came with the fail zero kit. Thanks
You go into detail on how to switch out the trigger assembly. But I havent foud out why do I need to switch it out in the first place. What is the advantage of your trigger assembly ????
I wasn't sure if my scope was still zero'd after i installed my SSA trigger. I set up a Dummy Target at 85 yards at the gun range. My first 3 shots i put strait through the heart with in a 1 inch spread. The SSA trigger greatly improves accuracy, and is actually safety. The heavy trigger pull on Factory AR's is ridiculous. Badly effecting accuracy. Rog
What do you do if the disconnector doesn't let go of the hammer? I have the DMR and the disconnect only let's go when I push it down by hand a little bit before pulling the trigger.
@normsville The SSA combat trigger is very good when broken in after 200 actuations. But if you feel more confident in your ability as time goes by, the SSA-Enhanced (SSA-E) has a much lighter second stage ideal for use in precision Squad Designated Marksman type rifles.

Pros of this video:
- Since graduating college in W. PA 15 years ago, I miss that Pennsylvania twang
- The lecturing on pin steel woke me up. I won't even THINK about getting an aftermarket pin now.
Cons:
- I can't actually see what you're doing. Close-ups would be nice, but since I've installed a LPK, I can infer what you're doing.
The video overall is very helpful, and even if it's hard to get the kit installed, I can watch cool .mil photos in the meantime.
This is honestly one of the best instructional videos I’ve ever seen. Clear and well paced. Gives the viewer confidence in the procedure. Nicely done!
Installed my SSA-e trigger today. First one, took about 10 minutes. Video is a great help. Would be helpful to zoom in a little more on the hammer installation portion. Probably the hardest part. Bill Geissele and Chad from SOTAR give the best instructional videos
I was staring down the slave pin when I pushed the pin through and the slave pin shot straight into my eye
Mr. Geissele, your pace of instruction and clear voice are excellent, but this instructional video calls for some clear close ups of the trigger and hammer installation. Loved the insight into the company.
great easy to follow video. First time doing this and it took me only as long as the video. I followed along. Simple as 1-2-3.
Flying disconnecter @ 4:52?
Great video, great products! I’m an army infantry veteran and I love the SSA trigger. I have one in all 3 of my ar15s
Thank you for making a great trigger. I completed last year my authentic USMC MK12 MOD1 project but when it came to the FCG I did not go with the KAC. Instead I chose the SSA-E and haven't thought twice about my decision. It is the best AR trigger group I have ever used bar none!
Absolutely excellent guide. Just installed SSA-E, i think my previous trigger was at least 12 pounds. This thing is NICE.
Excellent video.Installed my SSA today. Thanks Bill!
Thank you for the video and the best trigger I have ever had in any AR.
Great instructions! I wouldn't have been able to do this without both the video and instruction sheet. Thanks!
Awesome, very detailed. I installed S3G today. My 1st trigger install. Thank you
I installed mine today, this video made it very easy and it works great.
I love my trigger in my MK-18. Keep up the great work. My armorer had it installed so fast and it does break like a carrot.
I saw something fly out at a high rate of speed, Safety glasses for dam sure.
And FWIW i've never disassembled or installed an AR trigger group. I had the SSA-E install done in 5 mins. That slave pin is an unbelieveably simple yet genius idea
Now there is a product I would have absolutely no hesitation in using.

$170... adjusted for inflation...now $250
Very helpful for the installation. Thank you!
Thank you Mr. Geissele!
Finally found out how to pronounce your name everyone at the shop said it ten different ways lol awesome triggers by the way.
Good stuff! As far as video quality, it's basically Bill on a webcam, not a professional shoot. Let's leave Bill to making triggers and rails!

very good instructional video. i was easily able to follow. good job!
Just put my SSA-E in, pretty nice. I have 3 more ARs that will need the same, or maybe an SD3G trigger. Damn you Geissele, and damn you too, Seekins.
I put one in my SIG MPX works great nice trigger makes a mag dump quick and pleasant i find it is easy to stay on target even with fast finger action .
I just put a G2S in a DPMS and had already installed an SSA in a Kaiser lower. Both are a very nice improvement over stock.

Should grease or oil be applied to the trigger/hammer notch during routine maintenance or should this area be clean and dry?
Ordered one of these yesterday. It got here today(I love living so close that I get one day shipping all the time from MidwayUSA with ground shipping). are you not suppose to oil the pins on the hammer and trigger?
My Geissele GS2 trigger group doesn't have a j-spring in the hammer so how do I keep my pin from walking out?
Bill, will a SSA-E work in a bushmaster carbine
Yes, because if your AR lower is mil-spec, then these triggers will precisely fit your Bushmaster without muss or fuss. -Larry

VERY nice,i'll be getting an SSA!

what it the spring clip that came out at 4:52?

any use KNS on Geissele triggers? if yes i need to use 154 or 1555?
Eight?! That's superb!
(I'll ask the boss how he does it and get a demonstration to improve the technique)
Bill, I just purchased the SD-E but it doesn't came with the grease just the go juice. Does all trigger suppose to come with that grease?

thank you for viewing our video. the G2S is every bit as good as the SSA, but on the other hand, the SSA is made with investment casting that has hard durable coating. if you have any problems, please call us anytime.
i just installed the g2s in my sig m400... oh my god keeping that disconnecter down and the trigger lined up was haaaaaaaaaaaaaard! please include the slave pin in all of them... ive done an ssa and an ssae before. the whole process took 20 mins... with the g2s it took 45mins just to get the trigger pin in...wow. love these triggers but seriously include the slave pin with the g2s...
I had a problem keeping it lined up, so I got the slave pin from a previous SSA and it was easier.
what size punch tool?
my trigger pin keeps wanting to walk out in me after installing one of your triggers
Do you have a colt lower?
Maybe your hammer spring legs are under the trigger pin. Need to be in top...
Price went up $70 since 2011.
that was the disconnector
4:52 Goodbye sear :D
@jsrscbr yes, it is true. in his latest video short, blackriflear15 makes the SCAR rifle sing with the Geissele Automatics Fire Control Group.
I am in the market for a new trigger and how safe is this trigger. Is it too light compared to a mil spec trigger. Is it sensitive and dose it fire premature. And is it good for range use.
Not 170 anymore lol but still worth the money
Video could be a LOT more helpful with more close-ups and less chat not related to installation. Bought trigger and doing install now.
This video will cease broadcasting June 30. Please go to the official channel of Geissele Automatics and subscribe. Thank you.
2nd the close up would of been nicer ... thanks though
Why don't you make a video on how to convert to full auto....you know....educational purposes only.
This isn't the "trigger of the seals" This is a SOPMOD legal trigger meaning it can be installed if the operator wants it but very few if any run this. Negligent discharges are made easy with this trigger.
what does this mean, literally makes no sense. you obviously have no idea what your talking about
