That is Lee Oskar on the harmonica and he is in a league all by himself. I saw War perform in the 70's and even with all the talented musicians in this group Mr.Oskar stole the show. Great concert!

From Deliver the Word released 50 years ago next month. A friend of my brother’s sold high-end state-of-the-art (for the time) stereo equipment and used to use this album as one of his demos because the engineering and production was so good. Upon hearing it with my 13 year old ears, it blew me away and I immediately went out and bought it and my life long love affair with the band War began! I always thought this particular song wouldn’t have been out of place in a 70’s spaghetti western, had Sergio Leone kept making them.

War was a band that introduced the west coast urban sounds to the world! They were Bay Area and heavily influenced with soul gospel and psychedelic sound of the time! Many great songs to come for you guys to discover! Chiguy!

Lee Oskar on that harmonica. My all-time favorite band. No disrespect to Earth-Wind & Fire but war put their thing down in the 70's. They were only overshadowed by EWF. This Album "Deliver The Word" was the truth!! You should check out the title song Deliver the Word.

Sounds like a track from a gritty 70's action crime movie with grainy film car chases, shoot outs and the like.

Loved this band as a teenager growing up in the 70's. I remember their hits on the radio getting air play; Cisco Kid (My favorite song...ICONIC!), Low Rider, The World is a Ghetto, Why Can't We Be Friends as well as others. Loved Leroy Jordons vocals. A nice blend of rock, soul and funk I always thought. Thanks for reacting guys. Another nostalgic stroll down memory lane.

WAR are my sunbathing soundtrack. Horizontal in extreme heat is just the best way to listen to them, it's kind of whole body, immersive music. I wrap The World is a Ghetto & Deliver The Word albums with Pink Floyd Dark Side & WYWH and go somewhere else entirely for a few hours, blissed out.

I thought I'd drop off another song by a band I believe you've reacted one or twice before, if interested. "Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle (Live from Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, 1973)" --This song "Fly Like an Eagle", is off the album with the same name, and is the bands ninth studio album in 1976. The song Fly Like an Eagle soared to #2 on the Billboard charts and the album also blazed its way to #2 on the album Billboard charts also. This album introduced the psychedelic community to the Steve Miller band's special brand of synth-driven, spacey, blues-rock sound that would spawn a string of hit songs that would dominate the FM station for quite a while. Have a great day La & Che

I got a thought while I was watching you guys react to Gypsy Man by War.....One of wanted to do an Epic Hip-Hop Rap album with a theme or concept to it like Yes did in Close To The Edge and Relayer....only 3 songs on the album with many sections in between or within the songs....right? How about this for a thoght.....Yes's theme in all their music is journeys through the physcal realities to the spirituals of Love and the Creator.....using Baroque....Medieval.....Classical.....Jazz.....Funk......Flamenco....Latin....Soundscape music......how about you guys take us the listener on a journey or journey.....through the Beginnings of Egypt....to the beginnings of Slavery.....through slavery.....Post Slavery....60's 70's 80's 90's...and 21st century using Ancient African tribal music....where Rap and Hip-Hop began to Egyptian music with Rapping telling the story.....to the beginnings of slavery of the Black people to middle of Slavery where the fighting for Freedom began and Gospel and Blues music was created.....to post slavery.....where Jazz and Scat which was the beginnings of Rap....to the 60's 70's 80's 90's and 21st...stating where Black people are today!!! What do you think! That would be your Concept album that would Eic and you people and old people would definitely like it!!! Tell me what you think...Just a thought!!!
