Eddie Hazel recorded the album. But he was replaced by Michael Hampton or Kidd Funkadelic in 1975. He's plays the solo on this one. Clarence "Fuzzy" Haskins sings the first part. Then it's Garry Shider aka Diaper Man. Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey on drums. Bass on this show by Cordell Mosson and keys by Bernie Worrell. And Glenn Goins (guitar/vocals). The singers was Fuzzy, Ray Stingray Davis, Grady Thomas, Calvin Simon and George Clinton. And of course the girls Debbie Wright and Jeanette Washington. The Horns are Fred Wesley trombone, Maceo Parker saxophone, Richard Griffith and Rich Gardner trumpet. Great stuff.

The music of my youth! Used to listen to "Give Up the Funk" while vacuuming naked. Best music to do housework to - My high school and college years!

I have to agree with folks saying you were not really hearing the song. I'm not a famous youtube guy, but I think folks aould dig it more if you sat through a whole song and just took it in, then you can speak on it AFTER you have experienced it.

I'm trying to figure out what part was actually heard? Because there were more than one guitar playing solo throughout the song; you were trying to sing, what you supposed to not known; talking when you should've been listening. How do I know... because at the end, you never said a word about what was said in the song... which is the most important part of the song. This shows just how much young people don't really pay attention. I'd like to see you do better on your next one... get into everything without interruption, then give your reaction. But let us see how you teact just taking it all in, first! Peace

You are not really listening to the music. This is one of the pivotal songs in the PFunk canon. This song had me with chills and tears back in 76 when I heard it live in person. There will never be another band like parliament! They did their own thang!
