Fvaorite member of The Brotherhood!
Definitely the guy who grows quills so he can hug people to death. Oh wait, he was phenomenally stupid, and dozens of other worthy Brotherhood/Morlock mutants were benched for that moronic creation.
Juggernaut. Even his name is cool. I love bulldozer characters
Magneto. hands down! One of the best characters period, such a perfect character to oppose charles. If I were to pick a different one it would probably be Mystique, in the comics her story is just wild and convoluted, thats X-Men comics for you though lol.
Magneto. He's just so cool. And who doesn't love Ian McKellen in that role. Also I appreciate the discussion on Rogue's decision with the movies. It makes sense for her character in the movies as she has been consistent with not wanting to hurt others and feeling like her mutation is a curse. Maybe a young teenage Rogue would make that choice but the comics xmen or 90's animated series Rogue probably would not have done so as by the time she joins xmen she also has the ability of super strength and can fly plus had fully come to terms with her original mutant powers but would have likely had sympathy or compassion for others who did want the treatment. She did struggle a lot still with not being able to simply touch someone without seriously hurting or killing them but she learned to accept it. In the later comics she even learns how to hone and control her powers so she can touch others without hurting them. And I loved Beast in the movies too bad we didn't get more of him. He's a cool character and I really liked him a lot in the xmen animated series because his xmen name is Beast he is huge and super strong but he's an intellectual. He is extremely intelligent and logical but also a companionate person who loves literature and the arts. He quoted a lot of Shakespeare but with meaning or feeling usually behind the words not to show off. He had a very high IQ but also mostly humble and companionate. But that could just be my nostalgia goggles talking cuz it's been a while since I watched it lol.
I know we get more beast in the later xmen movies but his character feels different to me tbh. Like a diluted version of Beast. Don't get me wrong I like Nicholas Hoult it's just character wise how he is written doesn't feel like the Beast I know. Some people like that which is completely understandable but it's just not the character I prefer. Kelsey Grammer was a great casting choice for this movie and he even got in shape for the role it's just too bad we didn't get more of him.
I love the scene where Magneto stands up for X when Pyro says something about him.
Far too many people forget that Erik’s perspective comes from being a prisoner at a concentration camp. Like he said, they don’t talk about extinction, they just do it👍🏽
Jean didn’t need infinity stones to turn everyone into ashes and particles lol
That’s how cool she is!!
But she couldn't do half the universe in a single snap. ;)
@@melodramatic7904 lol she can.. Dark phoenix can destroy a multiverse with just a thought.I think u didn't read comics.
@@disintergrate9299 why is it like evil also yeah its stronger than the infinity stones, there are several marvel characters stronger than the infinity stones so its still not the top but its perfect to use since those stronger characters often don't do anything
@Jermaine Rodney wtf. Phoenix was weak without a host. Phoenix is not powerful if the power is divided. U compare them to Jean? Lols. Jean was never killed by anyone except when she sacrifice herself or she let them kill her. Except the Cannon. Tell me a comics when jean accept the phoenix then they killed her.
On the Director`s Commentary Brett Ratner mentioned that the comatose man was Charles` identical twin brother was born braindead due to Charles` telepathy shutting down his brain synapses instinctively when they were in the womb which is why Charles is more conservative in regards to young people using their mutations and how compared to Erik.
Fun Fact which you should definitely watch as well: There’s a deleted scene where Jean created a mini-star on her palm in her scene with Magneto overlooking the brotherhood resistance, and she basically pulsed this mini-star in front of them, almost killing everyone in the area. I wish they used this scene instead of threatening Magneto with the cure, it shows the Dark Phoenix’s potential as a cosmic entity.
Yeah that sounds cool!!
*created a mini star out of a metal Cup, almost Obliterating everyone on Sight
I like the fact that even Magneto is afraid of Jean, who himself is a Class five mutant.... Jean is always OP but in this film and the Phoenix one.... She is kicking ass
Magneto is class four and Jean is an omega level mutant. She is considered the most powerful mutant ever when she's dark phoenix
@@ashleighh472 Sorry, I thought they were both class five... Thanks for the correction 😊
@@Rahulrana_7729 no problem x
@@ashleighh472Magneto's an omega mutant too!!
Angel was so lowkey in this movie but he’s so cool, underrated character for sure
When he damages his wings is he able to grow them back ?
@@spinofthewheel5345 he can also heal others and revive them from the death (except for Nightcrawler, since he’s like the opposite of angelic, devilish). He can also summon light to fight with. He’s a very cool X-men, not to mention one of the original 5 iirc.
@@pixeltrooper2803 nice thanks for information
I remember he was featured pretty prominently in the promotional material and he had a whole three scenes, lmao.
Just want add here that aside from the film point of view that the cure would work on Jean and the allegedly "death" by Logans claws, she's not just the only mutant level 5 but she's also the ultimate vessel for the phoenix entity, they are one an bound in a forever cycle, she's the embodiement of creation, she represents the big bang that had started the universe and life reincarnated, she can't die nor lose her powers in any way. Even when her body gets destroyed she reborns in the White Hot Room wich is kinda of an energetic womb in a parallel infinite multiverse. Although the Phoenix Force had posessed a lot of heroes and vilains throughout the comics storylines, only Jean achieved the highest form becoming The White Phoenix Of The Crown, she's above a goddess level turning herself into one the 3 most powerful beings in Marvel universe behind only the Living Tribunal and The One Above All. To put in the proper perspective here, she could destroy Thanos with all the infinte stones in his hands plus all the avengers assembled at once by herself.
Seeing Erik slowly move that chess piece at the end is showing there may be a twist on the cure. It may be temporary. 🤔
I stand by this film as being a decent enough entry in the X-Men universe. Far from the worst, for sure.
For sure!!
Absolutely agreed. 3 has it's issues, but especially the final act is just awesome. I never warmed up to the newer ones that much, so I'd say this ranks 3rd still for me in the series.
Its an unfortunate reality that movies in a series that may not be quite as good as the previous sometimes just get dismissed entirely, even if its unfair.
I think the only real problem is it tried to force the phoenix when it didn't really FEEL like the phoenix.
I also honestly never liked the duel personality version of the phoenix. I prefer the cosmic entity version.
@@aaronsandman749 agreed! both films tried to portray phoenix like a split personality and i think that’s the only gripe i had with the movies.
Agreed looking back now and seeing there the X-Men in cinema has come since this first came out...is is by far not the worst and still a FUN watch. I remember when this first came out in theaters and leaving my viewing feeling disappointed (the love because I will watch anything with Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen because no matter the role they just command your attention and are impeccable). Just wish they knew HOW to do the Phoenix story because they are at two strikes now XD
Rogue in X-Men: I don't want powers.
Rogue in X2: I don't want powers.
Rogue in Last Stand: Imma take the mutant vaccine lol.
The other X-Men: 👁️👄👁️
true. I try hard to sperate the movies from the comics or the 90's animated series but ngl it's hard with my fav character. Her powers are so nerfed by making her teenaged and taking away her complex past of being basically a villain before joining the xmen. But yeah it's consistent of her character in the movies to go for the cure.
@@roguechevelle agreed. Rouge and storm are my top 2 favs and this movie mishandled both of them. That's always kept me from loving these films.
This one being my least favorite because Storm was either strong or weak depending on what the plot wanted and this movie made it clear we would NEVER see the badass Rogue from the comics.
I'm hoping to see her in the MCU since Captain Marvel is already established and the Dr Strange trailer hintd at an Xman being in the movie. (Therefore we know the xmen are coming)
She was a bit confusing 😂😂
@@melodramatic7904 Most likely just an alternative version of professor x will be in it. Who knows though.
rogue in the movies is pure character assassination lmao.
In case no one else said it, the body was Charles' twin brother and that's one reason why he was able to transfer his consciousness to it. It also would have allowed Patrick Stewart to continue in the role.
But then what happened to his twin brother’s consciousness?
@@yomamma.ismydaddy216 the twin was braindead or otherwise not there mentally, no consciousness to displace.
Isnt his twin a girl (Nova)? What about the one in Deadpool 3?
I just realized that Charles and Eric call each other by their human names. Given how Mystique referred to a "slave" name, I find Eric's acceptance fascinating. Also, the fact that Jean has no code name might be something Charles did to subconsciously limit her.
Bobby all iced up is iconic, reminds me of the animated version of his character. I wish they would've done at least 2 more movies, this trilogy is too iconic 😭👑
WNR: "Where's Scott?"
Me: "They're breathing him. His 'sploded bits are kinda mixed with that mist they're walking through."
This movie got older pretty good, actually. Far better than many of the current superhero movies they release nowdays. I just love it!
This is definitely a decent x-men movie, but I'm excited to see you guys watch First Class because that raises the bar way up again.
Yes, that and days of future past
As a long time X-Men fan from the 1960's I was glad that they included the danger/training room in this film. I wish they had been able to do smaller films that included some of the earlier comic stories instead of going for the world ending style that Marvel went into.
The score on this movie was incredible. This movie also had one of Wolverine's most important moments in the whole franchise.
juggernaut is not a mutant, phoenix force is a multiversal cosmic entity, it brought jean back to life.
I like that you mentioned that Jean is like Wanda because The Phoenix Force and Chaos Magic are actually polar opposites. The Phoenix Force is the embodiment of order and life, whereas Chaos Magic is the complete opposite.
Wait seriously? I feel like it should be the opposite since Wanda’s “Chaos” created a whole new town, Vision, and her children, whereas Jean’s Phoenix killed a bunch of people😅. They should swap names lmfao.
@@Jordan-gp3mj the Phoenix in the comics isn’t inherently evil it’s more so just the vessel that it’s chosen. In Jeans case it just ended up with everything on fire lol
@@concreteboyreco3477 if im understanding correctly you're saying that if the phoenix was in anybody else it wouldn't be the "dark phoenix"?? As in Jean herself turned the phoenix dark? Never read the comics so I assumed when professor x said he locked the phoenix away and it became another personality that was the case for any others it's inhabited.
@@Guess2 it’s more like it’s not inherently evil. Like I it could be used for good but almost on a green lantern level of Will power would be needed. I don’t recall it ever being referred to as corrupting in any way. It just seems like if you’re strong enough you can control it. If not… you’re Jean. Like the comment says it was first the embodiment of order and light. I’m the comics it’s been used to bring life back to planets. It just seems like the movies only talk about the evil shit it’s done and can do.
@@Guess2 it’s like giving a little kid a gun. Could kill someone just depends on the kid
This was one of my favorite movies growing up. I know now that the movie itself has it's problems, but for me (and i assume, other queer people too) these x-men movies hits in a different way.
As a kid i always had to suppress my identity to not let people know that i'm gay. And the thought of a cure to not be the way that i was, to be "normal", not gonna lie, was tempting. But this movie helped me realize that's not how things work and there's nothing wrong with me. And you can see various sides of this discussion portrayed in the movie. Just in the opening, jean parents talking about the mutation treating it as a illness, later on she developing another personality because she was forced to suppress a part of herself, angel as a kid desperate trying to be normal and mutilating himself, the whole rogue arc... Anyway, i'm just saying that this message hit me so deep as a 12yr going through puberty and i'm very, very grateful for it.
"That's ridiculous. You can't cure being a mutant. Since when did we become a disease? [...] No, professor, they can't cure us. You wanna know why? Because there's nothing to cure. Nothing is wrong with you or any of us, for that matter." - Ororo "Storm" Munroe
💕🥰 I always loved this movie as kid as well, as a kid I found so stupid that people couldn’t embrace other’s differences call it ethnicity, sexuality , religion etc etc… even for me as a kid in my innocence I could tell how adults always make all this stupid excuses to divide us all. So x-men for me always felt like it had this message that there is nothing wrong with you, with what you are and what you like. I am happy to see I am not the only one who went deeper into it and I am glad you are doing great and embrace who you really are! 😌
Can I ask a genuine question? I'm trying to understand. I had a few friends when I was moving around as a teenager that have come out as gay as adults and when we met as teenagers, there weren't "signs" of their sexuality. Now, they tell me as an adult that they didn't find out they were gay until they were in early 20's, like 20, 21,22. I had no problems with it. Their families on the other hand had a few problems with them, but eventually accepted them. And that was enough for them, they didn't want anything else then acceptance from their loved ones. So my question, why are LGBTQ+ young adults are seeking validation and acceptance from online? And not from the important people from your lives like their families? I just don't understand. I'm 25. Not a boomer. My friends who are gay, don't act like the ones online, they just want to work, and live their lives. However they also know and accepted, there are people in world that will never accept them, and in some countries LGBTQ+ would be put to death. So why can't the LGTBQ+ young adults accept that too?
@@beautifulbliss5883 Are you under the impression that all LGBTQ+ people eventually receive acceptance from their families?
Something interesting: not only do we have Stan Lee's cameo, but the shot just before it? Of the old guy with the lawnmower? THAT is Chris Claremont. If you don't read comics much you might not know him, but basically, pick a famous X-Men character or storyline. Chances are, he's responsible for writing them / it at some point.
Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Moira MacTaggart, 'Days Of Future Past' (which this film references in the Danger Room scene), 'The Phoenix Saga' (which this film is mostly based on), etc. He wasn't the only writer involved, nor did he even create some of these characters, but his writing is what revitalised X-Men in the 70s and gave it some much-needed grit and depth.
This should have been the completion of Rogue's journey and accepting who she is. Particularly as it started with her and Logan. They should have had her show up in that final battle and fight with Logan to save/end DP, she could have taken some of Jean's power or one of the other mutants that maybe got knocked out or something.
I agree! It woulda been awesome
@@whitenoisereacts There is a deleted scene where she actually refused the cure and told Bobby that this is who she is.
in the novelization (I collect movie novelizations), she does refuse the cure and return to Bobby
@Lizzette Escobar Ugh! Why do they put all her stuff in the deleted section. 😭
No.. Rouge tried already but she can't handle it in animation. She's just being control by phoenix or Jean when she tried to take the power.
That body in a coma on the end credit scene is the twin of charles xavier. Here is the story, when charles and his twin was in the womb of their mother charles has sensed that his twin will become evil in the future ( precognition maybe) so he instinctively attack his twin in the mind while in the womb which resulted of his twin being comatose for years. Also charles and other telepaths has the ability to transfer their whole consciousness to other body if they want to :D.
Haha, I love how Ninetailedbrush takes Iceman's side in the drama with Rouge and Kitty! I probably have not seen that before. Awesome reactions, keep up the good work!
Am I missing something ? Her name is Marie and her alias is Rogue. Who is Rouge ? Why do some ppl in this comment section call her Rouge ?
Did one dude misspell it and everyone assumed this was how it's written ?
I'm so confused.
Rouge litteraly means red in french is pronounced 'rooj' like lipstick, not 'row guh' like rogue is. Like what is happening??
@@greyscalesx Wow I wrote this a year ago and I don't care a bit about how this random girl in a fictional movie spells her name. :-) Care about more important things in life.
I think the real issue is that all the main actors were leaving. Rebecca, James, Anna, just about everyone made the dynamic weird. And then to gank Cyclops when they could have just changed him like with Mystic
I loved all the X-Men movies that came out. I was a little disappointed they didn't go to the moon to try and save Jean like they did in the cartoon though. lol
Charles had a twin brother that was brain dead, P. Xavier. Charles transferred his mind into his twin brother to escape death.
The patient at the end was a man with no consciousness, so in theory Charles' consciousness transferred into that body.
So there is a lot going on in this movie. They hint at it earlier in the movie that there was a person born without a consciousness, so a healthy body, but no mind/soul. Charlies had a twin in the womb, and by the script that they follow here, his powers erased his twin’s consciousness and caused the “extra body”. He was aware of this because they were his twin, and in the school he was probably talking about the ethics of transferring his consciousness. Xavier transferred his consciousness into his twin’s vegetable state body as a last ditch effort to save himself. In the actual comics, he almost killed his twin in the womb. Her name is Cassandra and she is also powerful and for the most part on the opposite end of the spectrum from Charles. I did love the respect that is shown between Charles and Eric, and the fact that they fought against each other but loved each other and were brothers with mutual respect. The Phoenix (Dark or Not) is even more powerful than Wanda in some ways; it’s hard to say because the magic and mutant powers of Wanda’s are extremely powerful. The Phoenix is a cosmic force that can make and unmake so many things and that can also have access to the infinity stones. If you don’t know Logan’s background, this particular storyline and killing Jean is a “do over/rerun” of Japan and Logan having to kill the love of his life. He loved both of them, and they both were suffering, and it was the last thing Logan ever wanted to do, but he did it because it was necessary. Great reaction.
I believe in the comics Xavier had a twin that died. I think they changed it from a female twin to male. And death to a coma. So that he is still PS :)
Yes Charles had a twin sister, but to keep him alive they made a brain-dead twin brother instead.
Some of my favorite movies are the ones coming up in the trilogy that show some new amazing characters.
This movie is the one that has all 5 of the original X-men from the comics. Jean, Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, and Angel.
If you watched back into 2 again, there are several scenes hinting at her building power and a post credits scene you didn't watch showing her in phoenix form under the water. The comeback was all set up there
@White Noise Reacts,in the bonus scene in the end with the doctor, did you two notice that her name is Moira McTaggart, yes? The same character in A later insallment of the X-Mem franchise, her profession will be different,in this movie as a doctor& later one as a FBI agent( two different actresses plays the same character)?.
that unconscious body was charles twin as far as i remember and since he had no conscious charles tranferred himself in it when his death came.
i always looked at jeans development like this: at the end of X1 she was affected by magnetos machine, which unlocked more of her powers as phoenix, then in X2 she had to deal with that and in the end when she sacrificed herself you can see the shadow of the phoenix flying over the lake, that protected her from death and in X3 her subconscious was calling out for scott and when he came to the lake and shot his blast into the lake he awoke her, the new her, the dark phoenix.
i often wondered what bryan singers plan for her was, he had something in mind setting these things in motion.
"Charles Xavier did more for mutants than you'll ever know. My single greatest regret is that he had to die for our dream to live."
- Erik Lensherr AKA Magneto
Even though he's a villain, that is the most heroic thing he's ever said. It's as if he was made a monster and never started out as one.
Aw, I love that you kept that mini blooper haha. Nice to know when even TH-camrs have to start over.
I’ve watched this movie at least 100 times and I’ve never seen that end credit scene.
Professor Xavier had a twin brother who was comatose.
When Phoenix killed him, he managed to transfer his consciousness into his twins body.
The kid that takes mutant powers is called Leach. He has green skin in the comics.
“She’s like a Wanda” lol this comment is pretty much the argument in the marvel verse right now.
The community is split over who is stronger between Phoenix and Scarlet Witch as they are rumoured to be facing off against each other in the next Dr Strange movie.
But in my opinion, Phoenix is stronger but that’s just because I’m a massive xmen fan lol. Great reaction
I got the vibe Phoenix was stronger, but it’s hard to tell
the phoenix is actually scared of wanda tho cause it can't use her as a vessel like it did with jean.
@@whitenoisereacts Wanda banished the Phoenix from earth in the comics. But to be fair, in the latest comics it’s been confirmed that The Scarlet Witch and The Phoenix are like one side of the same coin. They’re like Ying and Yang. It’s crazy but they probably did it to stop the arguments on who’s stronger than who. They’re basically equals.
The Danger Room is so cool. I hope we get to see more of their training sessions in the MCU.
Jean was fucking them uppp and if she didnt allow herself to overcome the Phoenix a little bit everybody would’ve died
These were my favorite superhero trio.
Please watch The Rogue Cut of Days of Future Past when you get up to it!
Best part of this movie is seeing Jean and Storm display more of their abilities as Omega level mutants, but the finesse and emotional nuance present in the first two films was lost in this film. Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix lean even harder into this hacky, less sophisticated tone. Thankfully, Logan brought a sense of gravity back to the franchise as did the Future action sequences in Days of Future Past. X-Men First Class was fine, but in general as the franchise progressed, it suffered from the cast changes that pushed out the original actors for younger versions of the most iconic characters.
This is such a mixed movie. Parts of it are AMAZING, both in concept and execution. Other parts though... ugh. I don't blame anyone who loves it and I don't blame anyone who hates it, I suspect it all depends on how much an individual person feels one half corrupts or redeems the other.
Which, ironically, sums up and is appropriate for the X-men story as a whole.
God damn I can’t wait for y’all to watch the deadpool films and the first class films
If I remember correctly in the comics that body at the end is charle’s twin brother but in the womb his powers legit sucked any sentience from his twin, so when they were born, charles grew up normally but his brother was born a vegetable so he would be able to put his own consciousness inside that body.
one of my favorites in the franchise! but nothing beats Logan. I can't wait til you guys react to that gem
Shoutout to Logan’s pants for surviving Jean’s power at the end 💪
Someone else may have mentioned this already but did you notice the actress who played Kitty Pride was Vonya from Umbrella Academy? (Ellen/Elliot Page?) she had such a baby face!
I don’t understand why they didn’t just inject Jean with the cure
Cause to do that Wolverine who is the only one can go near her but the cure injection would disintegrate so the only solution is indestructible metal inside Wolverine.
@White Noise Reacts earlier in the movie Charles explained about the patient on the TV that the person was in coma and has no concience. That was actually Charle's twin so when Jean killed him he transferred his mind there will be more of Charles once you move on with the franchise ;)
Ohhh shoot ok
Oh that makes sense why he is alive in Days of Future Past
I loved the idea of this film. The cure and the danger that poses, but the over simplification of the Phoenix force was a massive missed opportunity. Jean didn’t really do anything, which made no sense given how much she always hated how Mutants had been treated before her first “death”
I think that’s why people have issues with it as a movie.
I loved Storm getting to showcase more of her powers here. They should have gone further with it though at the end.
well juggernaut's got no powers actually, he's not even a mutant. he just has his mass and rock helmet/ body armour that's all.
I believe in the comics, Professor X transfers into his twin brother, btw
@White Noise Reacts, this film also had Psylocke's fiirst cameo apearance among Erik's attendees in the baddie meeting in their hangout/base?.
17:03 This is where the fun begins!
In the comics jean is a invented a decade before wanda, she debuted in the screen first,
They literally copied Jean's personality mannerisms appearance storyline, connection with a powerful force, to make wanda
In the mcu movies they copied xmen jean (famke version) to make wanda interesting
In Wandavision the writer literally said he wanted wanda to be like jean and that they were "inspired" by xmen movies (Sophie Turner version) so of anything it's wanda that looks like jean not vise versa
Exactly
I cannot wait to see your reaction to first class. Such a good movie!!
My fave among the 3, idc what other people say. Logan's transformation and all
5:06 - Fastball Special.
16:22 - You DO realize that human trials is the last step in EVERY medicine, right? And that cellular testing is like 5 steps before that?
36:56 - Before he was just Bobby. NOW he's Iceman.
41:40 - Uh...no. The body there was born brain-dead: completely without individual thought or motive impulse. An empty husk. Xavier had no hand in making the body that way. However, it's complete lack of (for lack of a better term) a soul meant that it was an ideal vessel for Xavier to transfer his mind into when Jean destroyed his body. Xavier could transfer into it without the moral implication of stealing a body from another person (a reference to his Mutant Ethics speech earlier).
I just wished they focused more on Jean than the cure. Also, they should have kept the deleted scene of Jean with the mug.
So I am confused. Does this mean the cure is only temporary? If Magneto gets his powers back, Does Mystique get hers back?
19:47 Imagine Scarlet Witch vs Phoenix 👀
Now I'm just waiting for DOFP: #####'s Cut😎
I think some of the mutants in the background are from the group called the Morlocks.
The Thanos snap before the snap. And they're not coming back.
This is the second time Hugh Jackman has had to play a character that killed his love interest.
cant wait til you see days of future past, you're gonna love it
I am a sucker for X-men I can say even more than Avengers , it’s just maybe the fact that as a Kid growing up watching these movies, reading the comics and TV shows and seeing the struggles of people who have to constantly fight against discrimination, intolerance and how difficult it is to embrace who you really are made it more realistic. This movie might not be the most appealing however I still they did a pretty good job. I can watch it any time and still feel entertained. Hugs and greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷!
Jean casts “suspend physics” 🔥
Yes, what those spike things that guy was throwing at logan are indeed bones or something akin to bone spurs. Not much different than Logan's skeletal mutation, aka just claws.
Excited for XMen Days of Future Past ❤️❤️❤️
The discussion about the ‘cure’ being an act of cowardice or survival, between Hank/Beast and Storm at the start, is an excellent example of how mutants in the Marvel universe are used to represent issues that affect many marginalised and discriminated groups in the real world. Race, sexuality, gender, religion, culture…
For those with a visible difference and those who can ‘blend in’, I found it such an interesting conversation when I first watched this in cinemas.
17:53, that's called movie magic, the actor isn't really that big, he is wearing a special "shirt"
When I was a child in the 70's & 80's I prayed for a cure to not be different. I was beaten, jumped in public, crank called, had my parents harassed, dealt with police looking the other way all because it was known I was different.
Now at 51 years of age I would never in a million years want to have changed who I was. I realized it was the town I grew up in that needed to be cured of their own bigotry and fear of who I am.
Stan Lee said when creating the X-Men he and Jack Kirby wanted to deal with story lines tackling bigotry in racism. Now mind you this was in the late 60's when no other comic had dealt with such human issues. They were allies to the disenfranchised and gave hope to readers all over the world.
Magneto: “It’s not a question of if they’ll do it. They will force it. Who will stand with me against it?”
White Noise Reacts “Well of course when you put it that way? They’re gonna follow you”
Magneto “I was marked before. No needle shall ever touch my skin again” (shows Holocaust branding)
White Noise Reacts: “…hmmm”.
🙃💯
My original thoughts at the end scene when I first saw this, was that they had been trying to clone Xavier's body, retaining his mutation in the clone body, so that they could eventually transfer him over ... restoring his ability to walk.
Earlier though, that body on Moira's table is described more as just a comatose random... so I don't know if that's what they were intending or not.
It's Charles' twin brother who is brain dead from birth or something. They said in the movies: "Patient has no higher brain function...". I would like to believe that Charles' mutation manifested while he was in his mother's womb and he somehow accidentally stopped his twin brother's development or killed him mentally. So he took care of him his whole life (paid others to take care of him) so he could have an escape plan in case his own body got destroyed just like it did.
Charles isn't a goody two shoe, we don't know if he ever abused his powers, he could have done whatever he wanted and then just wiped mind of the person... he is scary when you think about it.
@@ragebash13 idk where I heard about this but I think it’s true that he had a twin and somehow his powers in the womb caused his brother to go brain dead
@@ragebash13 You are correct. Charles' powers manifested in the womb and he made his twin brain dead and they kept him alive. It's in one of the comics from back in the day. I can't recall which one specifically.
They should have kept this in the movie
This was the highest grossing X-Men film for 8 years.
Moved a little quicker than the first 2 films and upped the action (a la' video games and animated series).
Bryan Singer bowed out of doing it to do Superman Returns (strange choice to some).
The deleted scenes are actually pretty cool.
Most of us following the franchise knew that this was the end for now and that more X-movies were coming
One last thing........
This is the first-ever Marvel movie with a post-credits scene (Glorious).
No it's not lmao daredevil fantastic 4 spiderman 2 Constantine and Hellboy all came before this
When it comes to this 3rd part, many people forget that The Phoenix was locked away in Jeans mind because Charles was trying to protect her from it and Protect the world from it.
We have to go to The 1st X-Men at the ending when The machine Magneto uses to try to make humans mutants fails to reach Ellis Island yet Does reach The X-Men in the Statue 🗽 . It doesn't affect Mutants except for Jean because it starts to unlock that part of her mutation (The Phoenix) from the psychic barriers Charles put in her mind.
When we start X2 we see that she's been having issues controlling her powers and can't sleep well(The Phoenix starting to awaken) . At the end she says "This is the only Way" knowing that this is the next necessary step in her Evolution.
Remember She narrates the end of X2.
X3 is the culmination of the 1st 2 and her Rising from the Ashes(or in this case, Bottom of a Lake ) into the Phoenix.
It's the weakest of the original 3 movies but I've never thought it was bad, I've always had fun with this one
Agreed!
Yeah if I had to compare it to the other 2 I would say it’s the weakest but still a good movie overall.
People really find this the weakest one?? I thought it was the best one 😭
This movie is in one of my favorite simply cuz of all the fights
ay bro u saw that new deadpool 3 image with the classic hugh jackman returning with his classic comic book suit?
Charles Xavier transferred his mind to another body
The part where Bobby turn himself into iced was actually Emma Frost fault when he posses Bobby's body he literally turn Bobby into Omega Level Mutant based on original comics.
Imagine how powerful the mutant from the forest would have been if he had a skeleton like Wolverine.
I have a group from university that I still do tabletop rpgs with, and one of my favorites is a superhero game called Aberrant. The range of power scale you can get with your characters is extreme.
At Quantum level 1, a person may have just above normal human abilities
At Quantum 2-3, the person may start exhibiting low level powers that allow their stats into the higher tier of 'mega-stats', or base level abilities like you'd see of any run of the mill comic book hero. Their powers have ranges in meters (feet)
At Quantum 4-5, you start getting the heavy hitters of a Superhero world, who have multiple abilities, including some of the bigger ones like Matter Manipulation or Gravity powers Their powers have ranges in meters (feet)
At Quantum 6, things change though. You start to qualify for some of the weird higher level abilities, like Bio-Manipulation (The ability to permanently rearrange biological DNA, and splice in traits from other biological beings to form a new species), or the ability to start boosting other hero's stats to increase the potential of their superstrength, speed, or other powers. This is the point where powers start to have ranges in kilometers (miles). - In the game there are only a handful of known beings with this level of power.
Each Quantum level after 6 is a geometric increase in power scale, ranges, etc, and access to truly bizarre powers that would terrify whole cities. At around Quantum 7, I think the range of powers changes into hundreds of kilometers (miles). I feel The Phoenix, in this movie, is somewhere in the Quantum 6-7 range.
At Quantum 10, there is a power called 'Universe Creation'.
I wish someone would make a movie set in that world.
Thank you!!! It's this revisionist history regarding this movie. It did well in the theaters and when I went to see ppl were clapping and enjoying it. I don't get the hate it gets.
I don't care what people say about this movie I really like it even if it's the nostalgia talking xD I love the themes and all the different powers we got to see.
One of the best thing about the X-men movies is the opposite points of view for the same cause between Charles and Eric it's always at the core of all the movies and it makes them all so interesting ! I could talk for hours about all this and I can't wait for you to react to the younger versions because they tackle those themes so well as well !
X-men Origins Wolverine is maybe my least favourite of the saga but it's still very entertaining and it has some very cool moments !!
Magneto and X do have the best lines in every freaking movie and I love it!
And you know what, I love Ben Foster, he is always down for whatever. Goofy, serious, superhero he's good-good.
Juggernaut is actually Xavier’s Step Brother but they didn’t make that connection in this film.
yes, and the reason he got a helmet is to protect his mind from charles...
@@nixolochenkov9830 true, but they had already wasted that trait on Magneto’s helmet. I think that’s another reason they didn’t bring up the Xavier/Marko connection. It was more of a “how do we fit Juggernaut in as a side character?” moment rather than trying to make him a main antagonist.
I really liked this movie when it came out! Because Jean is my favorite Marvel characters of all time. The only thing I don't like abt the movie is how they write Jean's death and how they made the "Phoenix" a dual personality instead of a cosmic entity that is one of the most powerful entities in marvel!. I mean as an xmen comic fan we all know Logan could never keep up in that scene haha 💯
I hate that they forgot in the fridge that Xavier's plot. Could be mind transference, could be that time in comics that Morpho play as Xavier, and this movie show some shadows of Xavier thinking by the way he treat Jean's powers.
The man who interrogated Mystique in this movie portrayed Frederick Chilton in The Silence of the Lambs!!!!!🤯
You’d make a smart general James. Your so decisive.
