This movie is ahead of its time in every way:
    * It didn't have a love story
    * It had a more subtle diversity
    * It's a superhero movie that took everything seriously, being R-Rated even before Deadpool proved to be effective
    * It had action scenes that became popular with THE MATRIX (even before The Matrix was made)
    * Even the cinematography made it look like it was released recently, despite being over 20 years old

Also, Blade`s armory man Abraham Whistler was introduced in "Spider-Man:The Animated Series" as was the crewcut hairstyle and leather jacket he has in The Film, his half-vampire nature whereas in the early Comics he was a normal human with an immunity ta vampire bites(Well, until he met Morbius at least, turns out he was only immune ta traditional supernatural vampire bites, not that of vampires made by science like Frost and Morbius)and his arsenal of garlic-based weaponry(Naturally, he couldn`t use crosses or stakes in a Fox Kids show and the word "blood" was also omitted replaced with "plasma" which means basically the same fuckin` thing but you`d have ta be either a medical professional or the child of one like me ta know that) .

The funny thing is, the first time that Blade and the Punisher met in the mid 2000s, Blade was under the assumption that the two of them were very similar. But, after a conversation, he found that they were actually very different. Mostly because Frank is fighting a pointless fight because crime can't ever really end, while there are ways Blade can prevent the evil of the supernatural from corrupting humanity.

Yup.... People forget that comic book films before this was super campy and corny... The studios still only saw the genre and it's depth of stories not as a source to pull scripts from, but only as another revenue tool to get more viewers and sell toys and merch.... This film paved the way for the genre as a viable source of great storytelling, NOT Iron Man 1... This film was good enough to make ppl forget that it was a comic book character and just watch it as a film vs a film about comic books

It not opinion. It is 100% fact. After the expensive flops Joe Schumacher Batman movies, Hollywood was done with superhero movies and was not greenlighting any comic book movies. Blade was released and was a box office success, so off the back off this movies success, they green lit the Rami Spiderman movies and X Men that went on to be billion dollar franchises and Marvel who were bankrupt at the time used the money they made from the Blade Franchise to make a little movie called Ironman the start of the MCU. Stan Lee is quoted as saying the Blade movies saved Marvel and Stan Lee is quoted as saying Blade is his favourite character of all the Marvel characters.

I think it's refreshing to see stuff like this that is unabashed in its style rather than something that might be considered better structured but come out of a cookie-cutter formula of "what works". There are of course still good stylistically distinct movies today but I'm more speaking on the current superhero films that are executed well but can feel a bit tiring when watched in succession.

Just commenting because you touched on this during the opening company logos: it's important to remember that, when this film came out, Marvel was doing really poorly and so were selling the rights to their characters to multiple different film companies, hence why Sony made Spider-Man but Fox made X-Men, and New Line made Blade. They are all still Marvel properties, but there was no such thing as 'a MARVEL film' until Marvel Studio was formed around 2008.
So while Blade is a Marvel movie, it's also not in any way connected to the MCU, or any other Marvel movies of the era. Just wanted to clarify because, with the MCU being such a huge thing, it's easy to lose track of what happened there.

And rightly so its not part of the MCU - because Blade is just so far better made than all those. It doesnt look like a video game. Its no reliant on CGI to facilitate the story. Its NOT infected by fake politcal correctness. Blade is black. No body gave a fuck if he was black - it was wesley snipes - passenger 57. He was the black van damme...but could act as well. Very good combo with woody harelson during the 90s. Blade is and shoudl not be confused with marvel universe shite. Its an insult to Blade - Marvel always are dragging down in cinema making and style to virtually no thinking having to be done during the movie.

@@gingerindian1141 I mean Blade is a Marvel character, and this is still a Marvel movie. This is just not part of the MCU. The MCU isn't perfect, but it still brought our favorite heroes to the big screen. I never thought I would see Shang Chi have his own solo movie and he now does. My top five heros are Batman, Wolverine, Shang Chi, Spider-Man & Flash and Shang Chi was the only one no one knew about unless you played the mobile games or read his cross over comics. But now he has his own solo film which put a huge smile on my face. They pull a Sam Rami where they twinked his backstory a little, but it worked. The movie had the best fight choreography I've ever seen in a superhero movie, the family drama was relatable, and despite the great fight scenes, the movie had alot of heart. However, the only issues I had with the movie was Trevor from Iron Man 3 had the cliche MCU humor and all though the CGI didn't bother me at the third act of the film, I felt it could of been better if they didn't have it. But what I like about the MCU, is that they learn from their mistakes and improve for their next movies. Plus, I'm glad Disney is allowing Marvel to produce more mature content. So I can't to see Blade in the MCU with an R rating. Its just difficult because some of the parents are now complaining about the more mature content and others don't think the MCU can do better after Thanos. I know they can because in the comics, *This is just my personal opinion* Thanos may be a huge threat, but his motivation is trash! He loves a woman who doesn't love him and he still tries to convince her to love him like a simp 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
That's why I'm happy that Marvel as the rights to all of their characters *Minus Spider-Man since Sony still owns him* now we could see Marvel's better villains like my boy Doctor Doom and Magento.

Juat for reference, especially where "bullet time" is concerned, this movie came out one year before The Matrix. Blade was the first movie to really feature Bullet Time. @@HVG67 Wrong, there are many differing examples of it. Blade was before the term "bullet time" was even a thing, so of course it wasn't called that. Before the focus of Superhero movies was to just add to an already massive franchise, where every character already has a three picture deal or previous appearance in other movies. Sure there were other trilogies, but they were independant of each other, and this wasn't nearly as complicated
This was simply to tell a story about a badass character with great action sequences. And it rocked.

(At 7:18) you want to hear something sad?
The actor who plays this guy Quinn, the guy who got set on fire… apparently, on the set he accidentally dislocated his jaw on the set, which is why he was screaming like that.

I liked all 3 movies, 2 nd one has Ron Perlman and Luke Goss who were both in Hellboy 2. 3rd one Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel so they are worth seeing.

"Motherfucker, are you out of your DAMN mind?!"

I was ten years old when this movie came out and my uncle brought me to the movie theater to watch this. One of my favorite movie going experiences and still one of my favorite action movies. Wesley Snipes owns this role. Blade 2 was great too, but man.. I wish Trinity turned out better.

The coolest move in a fight scene I've ever seen (and I've seen quite a few) is still when Blade stakes that dudes head to the roof during the Blood Rave.
You can just FEEL the power through the screen!
    Such a badass movie!

Just so you both know they deleted a scene there after they got out the temple!! Showing some guy on a rooftop looking down at them!! It was Michael Morbius the living vampire!!! Oh yea blade is a marvel character. And soon to be a MCU version. So consider these movies an alternative universe version

Vampires can feed on each other for sustenance. Remember the girl trying to bite the guy's arm that was missing a hand? Also, it's just how it works in this universe lol
For the record, Blade was released before The Matrix. :)

“It’s a bit much” was pretty much the 90s in a nutshell. The word “Extreme” was used in 90% of all marketing at the time for a reason, everything was kicked to 11, for better (in cases like this movie) or for worse (in cases like the movie Steel, which I would highly recommend you guys watch if you want to laugh your asses off at a terrible superhero movie). Extreme Ghostbusters was a show at the time (which have you guys reacted to Ghostbusters? If not, please do, amazing film) and even though I prefer the 80s, the 80s was like a decade of steroids, the 90s was meth when it came to wanting to do more extreme action stuff. The 80s was all about powerful muscular guys kicking ass, the 90s was all about trying experimental ways to make action scenes faster and crazier. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t.
