  • COMSOL fuel cell stack cooling: modeling the thermal management of polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell stacks. It is very important for all battery cells in a fuel cell stack to operate with similar temperature curves, as non-uniform temperature distribution may lead to non-uniform water vapor condensation and significant performance differences between battery cells. The battery stack consists of five battery cells, which are interlaced with bipolar plates carrying liquid coolant. This model solves for temperature, electrode and electrolyte phase potentials, mass transfer of reactants in each individual gas chamber, as well as fluid pressure and corresponding velocity in gas and liquid flow chambers
