I think the people on the Axiom were more like the Lost Souls; when they meet Wall-e, they experience an awakening just like in Soul.

Question: Do people in Onward have a soul? Since you need your “Earth” pass and you jump onto Earth. Is there just a different Great Before that needs their Djchhgjd pass? Idk.
It could be theorized that those souls in Onward get their own planet pass. Maybe the souls in that particular area are all meant for Earth, but there could be other areas for other locations. Because, do those on the Axium need to have an Earth pass? Or do they get an Axium pass? and which Axium? Aren't there multiple? just a thought. :D Great question!

This particular incarnation of eternity might just be the result of a specific belief system. After all, Coco shows an exclusively Mexican afterlife, completely devoid of a conveyor belt (but with its own bridge). It seems likely that the people in Onward would have a before- and afterlife that would conform to their own religious and spiritual beliefs.
The really interesting question is whether the emotions from Inside Out, which could arguably be considered part of Riley's soul, have souls themselves?
Good question, my guess is they would have souls for each planet but even so terry’s files and the great beyond look like they have more then the amount supplied by earth

Agreed with Tristan. People chase the idea that there must be some purpose we're here for, but the much simpler and much nicer answer is simply that there is none and we can just be what we want to be.

So if "living" Toys are extensions of human life. Are we saying humans and "soul filled beings" have the power to bring life in inanimate objects? Kind of like a power we don't know we have? Is that part of the Magic we see used across all the movies? For example: Magic doors?
That's essentially what the Pixar Theory is defined by.
Since Monster's Inc. shows that simply existing /near/ a human generates incredible amounts of energy, to the point of laughter overloading an entire city block. The planet in WALL-E is completely devoid of all life (except for a single plant and a single cockroach which /just so happen/ to be living next to the only being in existence that remembers humanity), then when the humans arrive the entire planet explodes into green fields and trees.
That cat soul meowing on the conveyor belt is so sad. I never want my cats to die. :(

Honestly out of cats and humans, cats definitely deserve to have the longer life span. That they rarely make 20 years is just sad.

I mean, to be fair, a lot of KH3 actually argued this exact point. The toys other than Buzz and Woody all faded away, and Woody and Buzz were close because they were separated from Andy and humans. Therefore, if you're using KH3, it's super obvious they don't have souls of their own. This was also definitely before TS4 because Woody was ya know, actually there, so it really checks out with this theory

So if they need an Earth pass and then literally jump down to Earth, where do they jump when people are in the Axiom? Like does it travel with them or is a new world created to cater to these souls?
The Earth moves around in space. It's called orbiting.
As for getting there, well 22 describes the Great Before as an illusion and a hypothetical, like the Jerries. Everything there is metaphysical, not existing in a tangible form, so it dumbs itself down into something that humans can comprehend. Joe perceives it as a portal to Earth because it's a convenient thing for him to wrap his head around, but it actually goes to wherever there's an opening for a soul.
those souls get their Axiom pass naturally
I never questioned until now about how babies are born on the Axiom. I like to believe they take the dystopian artificial womb route. Whose to say they didn't go as far as taking the Man of Steel route where blood relatives are a thing of the past?
I just assumed from the moment Jerry mentioned the Earth portal that there was other portals, too.

There's a good chance that the souls in the great before would never end up inside a toy.
The way souls are prepared in the great before seems to be, get personality trait and then a spark, and it is done in a efficient assembly line way.
Woody however got his from gaining a personality from "interacting" with different humans and then gaining a spark on earth.
Toys can't die unless they are forgotten.

Plot twist Woody has the soul of Andy's dad. That's why Andy always had him around, but as time went on Andy thought it was just his imagination, and Woody being told he was just a toy believes himself to be just a toy.

You kind of need to know Velveteen Rabbit for this to make sense
In TS1 we meet Woody (and all the others but they're mostly nonessential for this) and Andy. Woody is Andy's favorite toy. In TS1 we see Woody's place as Andy's favorite challenged by the fancy modern toy. In TS2 Andy breaks Woody and Woody freaks out, Andy loves Woody yet loving him is damaging to Woody and Woody has to decide whether he wants to be preserved, we see this mostly in the montage of Woody's "glam up" he loses all his evidence of being loved and used. He decides it's better to be loved than to be perfect (much like the Skin Horse teaches). In TS3 we see Andy outgrow his toys, all the toys are excited to go to preschool and be toys forever, just like Woody wanted in TS1-2. Now Woody just wants to be Andy's toy, we see Woody decides to not go to college just to stay with his friends.
Now in TS4 Woody is watching and learning he isn't the favorite toy anymore. He becomes a mentor to Forky and a guide for the others. When he and Forky are walking down the road catching up to the RV, look at the camera angle, in all the other Toy Story movies it's wide to show the size difference between the toys and the world around them. In this scene, it's close up and Woody almost looks lifesize, this continues with most of Woody's shots, he's bigger, when he's under or on top of the carousel he looks lifesize. He also gives his voice box away because he doesn't need it anymore.
The last thing is this, we hear throughout the entire saga Woody doesn't want to be anyone but Andy's toy. Yes, he gives up staying with Andy for his friends but he shows, that in TS3 that the toy in him is willing to be broken for the kid he loves, not any.
By the end of TS4 Woody looks lifelike by stature from the camera angles.
Woody doesn't fit in anymore, not because Bonnie doesn't know how to play with him, not because Woody is too hung up on Andy.
Because Andy's love gave Woody a soul. Woody stay with Bonnie's toys because he isn't a toy anymore. He's real.

You just made me realize that the underlining theme to the "Toy Story" movies is that the giving of yourself is what gives life meaning, and I think that's a wonderful message to give to kids. And for the question: I do believe all toys do have souls. It would make me sad if they didn't.
I think the souls of the axiom people are in a sort of dormant state, they’re probably those big dark gray monsters in the zone. Wall-E is like moonwind, he knocks them out of the obsessive routine state
I'd think that Toy Story 4 disproves the whole "toys die when no child remembers them" theory.
I mean.. toy story 1 disproved that with the claw machine aliens. Then you've got stinky Pete. Any child that played with him is long since grown if not dead.

For example if you had a Ernie and Bert doll but you only really played with Ernie and Bert just got put in the box you know that Bert exist because you have Ernie and because love can be transferred as long as The toy you were associated with is still remembered I can give you life you go on living.
@@phlpcockrell it's human memory... not exactly being played with. Weezy was "dying," but he was alive because he was still somewhere faintly remembered. Stinky Pete was definitely remembered by Al, who very much cared for him (albeit not in a typical, child's way)... with the aliens, I'm sure there's a lot of kids who see them every day (they're alive similar to how the Display Buzz is in Toy Story 2... nobody physically plays with them, but they're seen and somewhat remembered)

@@goodhuman_person619 right, and I was thinking about that... but it's not as much the individual toy that's remembered as much as it is the product as a whole (and probably, the display gets most of the attention at the store... That's why the other Buzzes aren't alive. The numerous other Buzz toys only get attention when a child is picking the toy up to buy, but until the toy is personal/individual to them, while they technically remember the toy, the toy could be replaced and it wouldn't matter to kid (if that makes sense idk if that's the best explanation but I think it could be something that affects things)
Mini Theory: the personality islands in inside out are the sparks u see on the baby Souls earth pass. It make sense since there are 5 sparks u can get as well as 5 islands in the movie
That and the soul itself splits into 5 beings of light.
Look at the end of inside out, there are far more islands than 5

That was pretty funny.
I think the toy's "death" rules are kind of like how death works in the world from the Scythe books. They can be "revived" at anytime, provided there is something *to* revive. Like, they couldn't come back if they were destroyed in a fire, but if they were ripped up they can be stitched back together.
Well, maybe toys “gain” a soul over time of knowing their owners, who give them their personalities?

@@leapyearcouchentertainment8790 My theory is that the malfunction wasn’t found before it was sent to a store. Someone bought it, and the child got so scared that she never forgot it, hence why she doesn’t fade.
What I mean by fade is I believe that toys are (sorry, but this gets kinda dark) the spirits of dead children. Similar to the Coco afterlife, when children die they become the spirits of toys. Then the second death in Coco or when the toy is forgotten or whatever the afterlife you go to ends, and then they go to the great beyond.
Disney employees watching this be like: How do they figure out our secrets!?

I always saw Bo as part of a porcelain lamp, not an actual toy. But Andy needed a stand-in damsel in distress for his play scenarios, so he took her off the lamp.
This video has made me feel SO much better about the plot of Toy Story 4 (which I really didn’t like before). Woody finding his spark and having a soul is officially canon to me now. :)
When buzz first comes, he acts like all of the other buzz lightyear toys, but he seems to sort of develop a soul as he lives with the other toys. So.... maybe?? 😂 I guess I'll have to watch the video
I always kind of just felt like he just tried to mimic the way other toys acted. I mean he definitely did become a bit more self aware but in TS4 seeing him over n over press his buttons kind of does seem like he isnt yet self aware enough

For example If woody died he’d be reunited with past preschool toys. For example kids give them souls and all version of the toy share the same “consciousness” (All barbies act exactly the same) playtime gives them souls

Well in a sense yes but no since we know that for some reason he is conscious when he was at the store and being in a sense 'interacted' with people. when they continue to mark down Pete's price they do have a small interaction which could allow him to at least be able to know what is happening.

@@njay4399 But what is a theory about a movie really though? Because people could come up with all sorts of crazy ideas but the only real question is, was this the intention or the creators. And the answer to that is very easily answered. No. The creators of the Pixar films did not intend when making a bug’s life that those bugs were existing within the same universe as the toys that came alive in Toy Story.
Pixar definitely know about the Pixar theory now and I think they’re intentionally trolling people by not confirming or denying anything. And doing so would also take away the fun.
The ending to Toy Story 4 gets me right in the feels every time!
Theory idea/plot hole: why does stinky Pete come to life if he was never played with?

The theory is that toys are powered by human memory, which Al (the chicken man) provides albeit he only cares about stinky pete for the money as a part of a set

I was hoping you’d mention Kingdom Hearts 3, in which the villains try to discover why the Toy Story toys have “hearts”.
They don't really tend to "cross the streams" so to speak. I believe it's treated as though the KH versions of the characters are for all intents and purposes alternate Universe versions of those same characters, like versions specific only to the KH world and not the same ones we deal with in the movies.
@@lordofninjas1 Ironically the creator of Toy Story worked on the Toy Story world in KH3 and has said he considers it canon to the movies, making it one of the few worlds that are claimed to be canon

The way you described how people get a soul kind of reminded me of something in a book I read recently. Said book is quite a bit different from anything Pixar would ever do, but it's actually pretty similar to Soul when it comes to the theme and some of the topics. I know this has very little to do with the majority of the video, but it's just a weird connection that I noticed that I probably wouldn't have without this video, so I thought I'd point it out anyway.
So Woody has a soul,cool. That means his memories give life to other toys, fine. But what about him? Since he can't die by growing old, does it mean that Woody can be inmortal?

I think Toys, even the ascended ones with a soul, are immortal... or to put it more correctly will only truly die if the material they are made from will fully fall apart. For that reason i think ragdols and wooden toys have much shorter lifespan than metal or plastic ones. (Plastic ones can last far longer then metal ones cuz rust.)
Kinda like Horcruxes... as long as the vessel is not damaged beyond repair the soul can inhabit it.

I think that when someone goes to the zone the same way frequently, it opens a portal to the zone kind of like how hyperspace routes are maintained. The soul energy going into the zone spills out as life.
