We're all the way up in Massachusetts, but right at the Atlantic coast, so we can still get some Bizarro World humidity here. I'm 62 and work in a fast-paced warehouse so I need to get enough deep wave sleep to be able keep up with the younger workers.. Without a good dehumidifier my sleep would be so shallow that I would have to take a leave of absence from work until at least mid-September. Thanks for this detailed, easy-to-follow video

This was a great dehumidifier for the two years it worked. I stumbled upon your video while trying to troubleshoot a repair. I called the company for advice. The unit is 2 years old - one year out of limited warranty. They had me register the unit and then said there is nothing they can do. No one repairs these things anymore and it's a somewhat pricey item to be "disposable".

Yeah I hate when that happens. I actually had a dehumidifer recently break. It wasn't this one (it was another brand, a very expensive one). It still works but it doesn't turn off and I can't adjust it. I just plug it in and it runs until it fills. It sucks when they break because they are so expensive. They are useful though so I always buy them. I currently have two dehumidifiers. Hopefully they last a little longer. They are very useful!!!!

Same reason why I am here. After two years, the compressor stopped working. I suspect like others. It’s the capacitor. But the way they set up the streamlined cool looking cover I can’t figure out how to get it off. I’ve removed every screw that is visible but it’s still stuck on something.

This was helpful. I just hooked up today. I put the tube in the back but now it won't come back out. I'll go hit the pump light. Very little water barely coming into the unit bucket. How hard can I pull that white cable back out and just count in that internal bucket? It took a while to actually find it's bucket. I had 4 inches of water in the cellar this summer and water to dry it out better.

So I’m curious. Why does my unit blow out warm air on the side and then sometimes is blows out cold air like a fan. This happens both on comfort & continuous. If I go into the app and then set the fan on high & I put it to 85% or even 35% and the air gets cold. Anytime I change the % number, it blows out cold air. But after a few minutes it’ll go warm. Just curious if that’s normal.

I have two Midea dehumidifiers: a cube model on main level of the house and a 50 quart model similar to the one of this video. I especially like the cube model as the bucket is easy for me to empty with it on a 3 water level setting. However the unit in the basement has just started to freeze up on the coils and allow ice to build up on the air filter. So I have to carry it into the basement bath and allow the ice to thaw and then plug it back in. Seems like the auto defrost feature is not working. Compressor seems to be ok and it works well except for the ice build up. I empty the water by using the unit's pump feature and carry the water to my sump pump. Everything worked great for a year, then of course, the ice build up began after the unit was out of warrenty. The hose is impossible to disconnect from the unit pump. I might just turn off the pump button and allow water to empty into the bucket. I would say Midea units work great until they don't or until the warrenty runs out on certain models. Of course the Asian written manual is poorly written with really bad and small drawings. I still have about two months of use for the machine in the basement so I will try to make it work until then. Probably get a different style dehumidifier as I can not live without one in the humidity of Virginia. I do have a question: is it possible to run the unit and empty the bucket and leave the pump hose attached since I can't remove it anyway.

Hey sir. I have the Midea 1500 standard 22 pint dehumidifier from amazon. I notice that when set on comfort only it will run for a bit and shut off suddenly for like 10 to 15 seconds then turn it back on again run for a bit and shut off again. But this does not happen when in normal or turbo mode. Would you know if this is normal behaviour or I have a faulty Midea dehumidifier? Please help. Thanks.

Hi I have a question. I like to be able to adjust my dehumidifier so it cycles on and off. But on comfort or continuous you cannot set the humidity level. So if you just turn it on but leave comfort and continuous off can you adjust your own humidity level.

My Dehumidifier works great but......I have it hooked up to a hose which is draining but shuts off with water bucket full. What is the point of the hose if I have to empty a bucket?? I had a Frigidaire that drained through a garden hose to the drain in my basement. The dehumidifier was up on a small crate and the hose attached to the water outlet and it just drained through the hose! This Midea I have is up on the crate also but I still have to empty the bucket even though the drain hose is connected that came with the unit. Is there something like a" float" that I should know about? I have misplaced my instructions!" Appreciate a reply! Thank you.

  • @keithhuckfield4175

According to Midea, the fan runs constantly. When using the Comfort setting, once the unit detects the set point for humidity, the compressor shuts off,but the fan still runs to circulate the 'new' air.I thought my unit was defective because it would neve shut off,not like my other dehumidifier, which would turn off all together once the set point for humidity is reached.Midea manual does not explain this at all.

    Informative vid.
I have 2 of the MAD 50 units that are 2 yrs old placed in my basement. I use the hose discarge to a sump pump. Mine does not have the discharge pump... needs to gravity discharge. BOTH of the units initially drained using the hose. However, lately they BOTH fill the bucket as well as trickle out the discharge hose.
I find the bucket being frequently filled to be VERY inconvenient... every other day.... at which time the dehum. shuts down.
The discharge hose is clean and there is no visable obstruction in the port at the hose attachment.
I have not come across a troubleshooting guide that addressed this issue and there is no direct contact after the first year warranty period. Any one else have a similar issue and or solution?

      @pollotom ปีที่แล้ว

@@lawrences2000 Thanks Lawrences2000 Took the drain hose off and hooked it up to the garden hose. Was a bit slimey inside but not plugged.

Please read the manual. If you attach a hose to the back it is meant to be drained into a floor drain not a bathtub or sink. The reason, it is a gravity feed and it will not pump the water out (this is what the other hose is for).

For gravity drain feature on models not containing the optional pump, hose may NOT be run to a bathtub if that means the hose has to run uphill. For the gravity drain feature, the hose must only go downhill, thus their suggestion of “floor drain”. With those with the pump feature like mine, that hose may be run uphill to a sink, tub, whatever

If your using the little hose thats for the pump so make sure pump is on this is good if you need to drain water far or pumping up. The bigger hose runs of gravity so it's got to drain lower than the dehumidifier

@@TheInternetSorcerer update: I thought it might be a bad on and off button all the other buttons worked so, I decided to open it up and have a look at the control button. I had never took one apart before so, I was hoping I wouldn't break anything. I finally got it open and checked the switch which had connectivity so, I put it back together like about 3 times. I forgot it had a timer you could cut it on so, I could still use it. One day the on and off button started working again and still works today but who knows if it will stop again.

This unit is very loud if you are thinking of putting it close to a tv , living room. Used a lot of kWh in one month specially if you leave it on comfort mode or continuous mode.

Will the Demidifier dry damp wall out ?

I just unboxed the unit, turned it on and realized the fan never shuts off even when reaching the desired humidity setting. While the compressor turns off, having the fan run continuously unless I shut the unit off is not cost efficient, is un-necessarily noisy and a deal breaker for me. Will be looking for another unit with auto-fan shut-off.

Hi, are you supposed to put water in the dehumidifier

The whole idea is to REMOVE water from the air, not put it back in!

It helps for sure. The problem is they are expensive. I currently have 2 dehumidifiers.

You set it to 70 but it didn't shut down while your room humidity is 60!!!

I will say it’s not quiet like reviews and Google says. I read quieter than a fridge. That’s a negative.
