I also feel the same way about the new PA98 vs the old one. That empty feeling he is describing is the lack of mass in the throat area compared to the old one. To remedy that, I added some weight on the very top of the handle where it meets the throat, to depolarize it. The old one, PAVS, on the other hand has some good heft in the throat area already. However, despite that mod, the PA98 still feels muted vs the old one which has a much more raw feel. Excellent video Jonas, as I love comparison videos like this one!
I've had an Origin for about a week now. 2 matches, and several practices, and I'm really loving the play I get from it. 54lbs with some rpm blast 130. You definitely have to be focused and swing it right! Also I think most people will really not be able to match play with this.
I bought the Origin as soon it came out as I knew at worse I will hang it on the wall with RF97 and maybe Novak signature if Head would ever give him that honor😡 I didn’t have RPM 15 so I put on Black Code 15L at 58/56 lbs and at first it was impossible to miss The racquet does all the work but it forces you to swing vertically and put more top on the ball. Serving is where this frame is so limiting for normal humans. I personally play with 350 gram 340 SW frames but Origin (mine measured at 365 sw) is so difficult to accelerate after dropping it going for the toss. I found that I would need to work on slightly higher toss to account for the lag in my racquet head speed which made timing so much harder. It’s definitely not a match frame but a fun one to hit around with. BTW, I can’t get actual Novaks Head mold but I customized Ti Radical MP (same general mold) to almost Novak spec at 355 grams and 355 sw, and they frame is full match frame!! Amazing on all shots and so accurate with serves and far far easier to play with than Rafa Origin or even RF97. So I really have no idea why would Head not release Novak Signature Speed ND ?????? At very worse, they would have every citizen of Serbia pay to buy at least one !!!!😂
Surprising to see one-handers liking the Pure Drives though not so surprising to see Andre liked the 98 version. I have only known of one other player who liked the Pure Drives and this was going back 2-3 yrs ago
Hello tennisnerd, what do you think? is lead tape necessary for the Pure aero? or even enough power and stability? what do you mean? and what about the 98? thank you!
As another Tennis Nerd and being One hander using the Babolat aero VS I have noticed that Andrei has removed the lead tape on 6 o'clock as explained in another video. Can you please let us know why the change?
can you tell me which pure drive versions you used and compared? Iam a bit confused when he said longer version and the standard version. Longer version=2022 extended pure drive? Standard=2022 standard? or 2023 98?
The Origin is stiffer, and the swing weight is tough on the arm. The Prestige is not the easiest, most effortless racquet to use either, though. Most players are happy somewhere in between.
Longo body racquets always have a higher swing weight and tend to be less stiff feeling. I dont know why someone with a physics degree can help explain.
Im an aggressive baselines currently using a pure strike but lacking a bit of power. I think I have no problem hitting hard and I’m already using RPM blast. I’m thinking going for the origin as main. Do you think it’s a good idea?
I demo the Origin. The balance makes it feel so heavy. The stiffness is very harsh. I play a lot of tennis and hit with it for an hour or 2 the first day I had it and had some wrist and arm pain the next day and didn’t touch it again as I never have problems like that. Demo before you buy. My main racquet is the 2019 Pure Aero btw
If you want a Pure Strike with more power, I think the closest options would be Pure Strike 100, Pure Drive 100 or Pure Drive 98. Regarding the Origin, it seems crazy to play with.
@@dickpiano1802 i didn’t specify but I actually play with a strike 100. And sometimes I’m definitely lacking power. And I’m a powerful baseline player. The pure drive, as you mentioned could be an option, but I also play with spin. The other option could be something like pure strike 98 or tour.
Alcaraz has switched to pure aero 98 and not only the paintjob. He is not using VS anymore. I found it’s feel way more connected compared to the more raw of VS.
This guys... 80 % of their comments ARE player's limitations, ie shortcomings. From it, if you know a lot about tennis can deduct with some approximation on what these rackets really are for. Good luck.
Wow, I could actually watch some of the hitting in this video bc that other guy has an aesthetically pleasing game. Sadly had to stop watching halfway through bc then the focus was on another not so aesthetically pleasing game.
I am not a strong player like Andre, but I try to share my experiences and include other, more aesthetically pleasing players. I would not say the focus in this video is showing my hits, I would happily not showcase my game, but many people relate more to so-so technique than to players like Andre. Still, not a very nice comment.
@@Tennisnerd Oh, it’s definitely nothing personal… it was more of a feedback comment. I really like the content of your TH-cam channel and I’m on your website all the time. It’s just that personally, I’m a visual leaner, so I have to be careful with who I watch. Like, if you were to have Errani or Gulbis testing racquets and showcasing those videos, I’d also have to stop watching. But then on the other hand, some people love watching them.

Jonas: Pure Aero 98 vs VCore 98…Which one would you choose? Why? ciao, John
Totally agree regarding new aero 98 and its hollowness. Therefore just bought aero VS week ago😊
OR, you could just add few grams pf lead here and there 👀
@@alfandosavant4639That may help address the mass distribution, but it wont fix the feel difficiencies with the layup itself.

Thanks Jonas!
In the last video with Andre you said you prefer the new Aero 98 over the VS, did you change your mind?
No, I still prefer the Aero 98, but Andre prefers the VS and I can understand why, but I prefer the comfort of the new version
New one’s swing weight is higher, so no lead tape needed. Also plays a bit flatter and more plow through.
I prefer the new PA23 over the Rafa lite as well. I found the Rafa difficult to control while the PA23 is very accurate for me.
If i add weight to handle and head of the lighter aero pro rafa does that make any sense or should i just get the heavier version?
Can I use the Rafa origin bumpers/ groomets in to my APDO? It fits?
Andre destroys the felt of the ball on serve. Beast.
Yeah, he is a good player!
Can you compare ezone tourl. Also control on flat shots
comparison Grad Gravity Pro vs Yonex V Gore 100?
can you tell me which pure drive versions you used and compared? Iam a bit confused when he said longer version and the standard version. Longer version=2022 extended pure drive? Standard=2022 standard? or 2023 98?
We tested the Pure Drive 98 and a Pure Drive 98 extended to 27.5 inches by Ring&Roll
Are Alcaraz and Rune using extended versions of the Pure Aero 98?
No standard
What's the comfort on the Origin vs your Prestige?
