I've still got mine!!! I use it as a micro=camper and it's brilliant!. It's long enough to roll a sleeping bag in the back and chill out. It's the 1.3 too, which is quite nippy, easy and dead economical to service, you get about 60mpg and easily cruises on the motorway. I love it. Stereo is pretty decent too. Current miles on mine is 122k, full service history and it's a Cam chain motor as well and it drives like new.
I'm torn between an astra van and a vauxhall combo, I'm looking for something cheap and cheerful as a second car for when we take our dog out for the day, I want something that feels like I'm in a car but has ample space in the back with no seats for him to ruin, I prefer the look of the astra but the combo's tend to be £300-£500 cheaper
@@markr6565 I wondered because that van looks near new in this vid on the 11 plate ... Iv got an 03 plate Astra G van with the 1.7 Dti Isuzu 16v engine .had it for 13 years it's been a great van .bought it with 43k now on 145 k still going strong and no rust .. I like the mk 5 van but the only thing is the m32 g box which is known for early failure ..chocolate gearbox as it's known 🤣 Other than that they are a nice looking van , although I still love the mk4..
@@markr6565 I have the 1.3 fiat engine in my Mrs astra J ..not a bad engine although it sounds like a bag of bolts on tick over .. On a run it's fine ,you can't really hear it tapping away 😁
1.9 cdti 150bhp van ........they'll get ya point to point while keeping ya comfortably awake. Stay ontop of maintaining it. "fast van" fastest van coming of production line

How’s the oil cooler and head gasket on the Mk4 I’ve owned 2 mk4 and 3 Mk5 both the mk 4 oil coolers went eventually and a head gasket on one and all 3 mk5 eventually had a gearbox issue with the shite M32 gearbox

legendy van , sadly missed
I drove both as company Van's in field service I found the 1.7tdi legendary for economy and power .A surprisingly quick car
I went from the 1.3 to the 1.9 on these. What a vehicle. My daily car was a 1.6 petrol 307 the van was miles faster. Took it every time.
The 1.3 and 1.9 Fiat engines were shite! The 1.7 cdti in 125 bhp was the sweet spot for power and economy.
The 123 bhp Isuzu engine is the best however my fiat 1.9 , 8 valve has 207 on the clock, oil and filter is changed every 10,000 ,

Could be a good work van for a plumber if you mount a shelf inside and cut your copper in half then put all your tools and stuff underneath the shelf

When was this video originally filmed, must have been around 2011 ish ?
Maybe, but they dropped the fiat 1.3 and 1.9 engines in 2011. You could only get a newer 1.7 isuzu engine with either 110 or 125bhp from then on.

Iv owned my MK4 dti van for 13 years and done a quick micro camper conversion a few years ago.it does the job well for solo camping 👍
Have both a mk4 sportive and a mk5 sportive SE, the mk4 is far far better built but the mk5 is way way faster 😂
hows the gear box on the mk 5
