Yes, and that "different" is really in evidence on some of their recent recordings. What I'm hearing is some of the most seamless harmonies I've ever heard from them, where it's difficult to distinguish who's singing what part; somehow softer. Yes, I miss Master Hurley soaring above the "fray" -and the sharp wonderful bass notes that jump out at you, but that's exactly it now, this is a different ballgame, and it's very beautiful, but for better or worse our ears have grown accustomed to their earlier sounds so it's on us to evolve with them. Just a thought.
One of the greatest countertenors ever, with the most exquisite CT voice I have ever heard, and with an equally wonderful and engaging stage presence. I had the pleasure of meeting him after a concert, and he was supremely charming, gracious, charismatic, and even more handsome in person. I've been a fan since he joined the KS in 1990. I'm sad and disappointed he will no longer be with them, because he was a highlight of their live performances, but at least I have all the recordings on which he sang. I wish for him a wonderful and enjoyable post-KS life. Thank you, David Hurley, for sharing your marvelous voice and talent with us for all these years. God bless.
David is such a charmingly funny man ! I have always adored him as a countertenor. I will miss his voice SO much in the King's Singers. Happy sailing Mr. Hurley !
i wish i had the chance to listen to David and all of the former and "new" king's singers once in my life. best regards from Austria and thank you very much for all the hours i truly lived due to your music. May the blessing of God be upon all of you.
What an utter delight, to see and hear David talking and giggling, reminiscing and having a whale of a time.. Thank you to Chris, for the wonderful chat/banter between you both.. It is clear there is mutual admiration and I, for one, am very grateful to have watched this 'chat' and remember all the wonderful singing David has brought to 'The King's Singers' over his career.. Good luck in your retirement David, and making your garden 'Dog Proof'.. (I wonder if he has a dog yet?) Best wishes from a KS's fan in Wet and Windy (Oh my goodness the Sun is actually out for a visit) Wales :D
This is a class act chat!!! Thank you for doing it! It is quite evident, throughout the interview, the both are good folk (as we say in the States). In many ways, it is a very inspiring conversation. I've had the good fortune and pleasure of attending concerts of The King's Singers several times. David Hurley is surely among the best counter-tenors in the world, even as he's just made his exit from the group. The group's artistry continues to be impecable, and the wonderful personalities always come across through their performances. The new counter-tenor, Patrick Dunachie, is wonderful, and I wish him the very best. I very much like Chris' clarification. He is a successor, and not a replacement! Patrick is very good in his own right, but the legacy David Hurley leaves is, in my opinion, an absolute treasure. Best wishes!
How Brilliant Is This. So Happy To See This Amazing Interview. How Do You Thank Someone For 26 Plus Yrs. Of Providing You With Such Wonderful Music. Thank You David ! 🎵
David is really handsome; his smile, the happiness he exudes, and also his well-cut clothes, the elegant poise makes me think he is unique, and I'll miss him very much. I wonder if the King's Singers will ever be the same charming group (should I say a gang of brothers?) without him...
I love David's counter-tenor. I do always 'laugh' (not in any malice in ANY way) is David's resemblance to David Attenborough's Bartlett in The Great Escape (when performing without glasses).
I miss Master Hurley terribly. He had the heart and soul for early music. He is my absolute fave countertenor.
I agree, one of the greatest counters of all time. It is not possible to replace him, but you can try something different

I love how jovial David is. I would love to sing with someone who seems so jolly all the time.
David Hurley is the very definition of amiable.

I think they are still a charming group, but vocally, not the same without David Hurley. He is truly irreplaceable.
Such a relaxing and interesting chat! I enjoyed it a lot, thanks for the upload
