Guys!!! I could not use my MacBook Air for months. I saw that video, ordered the tool to open it, and I did what guys have been doing. It works now! I just used a qtip and WD40. Thanks a lot for your video.
Thank you for carrying to share both of you. I’m glad you didn’t get scammed by Apple as I have been one too many times. Never again would I make that mistake. All the best to both of you!
Thank you so much for your video I opened my MacBook Air 2017 since it wasn’t charging at all for almost a year and it was so dirty cleaned everything and got a new battery (even though a computer store told me I didn’t need a battery) I still got one anyways from Amazon and installed it myself and let it charge for a whole day and now its working so good and the fan is spinning flawlessly 😌 thanks for the video
First of all, like others have said, I love that the whole family is working on this! Two thumbs up just for that! BUT. If I hadnt found your video after having already replaced the charging port, I wouldnt have realised.... I plugged the ribbon cable in wrong. I had it flipped the other way around........ Thank you!
So after using the alcohol and u have wiped the best you can, do you wait a few days for the alcohol to dry out before you connect everything back? - my rubbing alcohol is 70%
Thanks for the help I finally got it working after following your video, you were my last hope as I had tried all the other fixes on TH-cam without any success so you have saved me $$$ as the next step was to computer shop.
My older MacBook Air has the MagSafe 2 adapter. When cold I plug in the adapter and the green-then-amber LED suggests that it's working properly. Clicking the battery icon in the top status bar though indicates that it's not charging. I note that if the CPU temperature indicates that it's lower than about 16°C and the embedded batteries are cold then it simply will not charge. It will power the MacBook, however. If I then run a program which is processor-intensive (iTunes watching a movie) then the CPU temperature will increase and it will magically start charging the battery. I'm sure it has something to do with the SMC trying to protect something. I've also been successful by holding the MacBook over a heater until the bottom of the computer doesn't feel icy. Repeatedly connecting/reconnecting the adapter seems to sometimes make it work after doing so.
That is true, In my case we live in hot humid climates, which made my water indicators red, And apple said to replace the computer. When it really was just some corrosion. I also read somewhere that sometimes the power brick being cold may also stop charging. Thanks for the tip!
Correct, This will remove any corrosion that may cause issues, Another option is isopropyl alcohol alongside a toothbrush this will surely scrub away all the corrosion.
I just replaced my logic board in my Macbook air from having liquid damage, when I connect the A/C adapter, there is no LED....is my I/O board bad or it's the battery bad?
Sometimes the laptop powers on, sometimes it dosen't... but even when it powers on the LED on the A/C adapter is not on... the macbook air doesn't even recognize the battery either
I would suggest checking if there is any corrosion, If not then try disconnecting the battery. If it doesn't power with an A/C adapter connected then your I/O board may be bad. Hope I could help!
Dead macbook air 2017. When plugged in orange light is on but not turning green even overnight. Did SMC reset, battery connecter removed but all failed
Properly check that all the cables are properly connected, If that doesn't work, then remove the connectors and make sure there is no corrosion. Hope I helped!
Sorry, I'm not qualified to repair one. But I would suggest opening it up and clean it with isopropyl alcohol. Most times it's just a case of some corrosion on one of the connectors. Hope I helped! :)
There are some tiny sensor switches on the board (MacBook Air) that activate when the bottom cover is removed and I presume the laptop will not function unless the cover is reinstated, or if there is any way to bypass these switches. Does anyone know what these switches do?
Hmm. Thats strange, I noticed nothing like that on mine, and ours functioned perfectly normal without the cover. In your case I would suggest to potentially tape down the sensor with electric tape. However I cannot be sure.
Hi 👋 sir can you help me plz my Mac Pro won’t turn on And won’t charge too , It was on until it suddenly turned of , Knowing that I recently fixed it after a little water flowed on it Then it worked again for about 15 days and then turned off and no longer charging And thanks in advance ✌🏻
Disconnect the battery, pressure air dry using blower (just cold). Try after few days to see if that helps. It’s very hard to diagnose if any parts failure remotely. We try to show many connections to key peripherals, disconnect all, one by one connect back parts to root cause if any particular part is causing the issue and replace the same.. good luck!
I just tried this and my fan came on for about 10 seconds and then went off and then never came back on. Plugged all other components in and now MagSafe charger is no longer showing a green light. There is no light at all and computer did not come on :(
For some reason my light never turned on, However, my laptop would charge and function as normal. Also, properly check that all the cables are properly connected, If that doesn't work, then remove the connectors and make sure there is no corrosion.
hi thank you for our video. my macbook air is fully charged and we get a light when power plugged but the fan is not moving and not waking up. Any suggestions?
@Natalia appreciate the kind comments! Have your tried SMC Reset? It's tricky, hence be careful that reset has happened, link with details below: support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
I had this issue too, My macbook was charging but the light was off, If I used another cable the light turned on. Which left me to believe that the cable's circuit board was faulty, there are other videos on youtube if you want to open it up and try fixing it. I hope I helped!
Think it might be the cpu or logic bired that’s just fried, gf spilled lemonade in it then turned it on to make sure it was still working, I didn’t know till she got back home smh. I can’t find anything and nothings working, even did a full teardown and cleaning
all the sudden my 2015 macbook air basically completely fell apart. it went from working fine one day, to all the sudden not charging, not going to sleep when i close the lid, not playing any sound and saying “no output device found”, not updating to mojave, and running really slow. i haven’t downloaded anything new. it’s currently running on macOS high sierra. does anyone know why l? i’d rlly appreciate the help!!
It's hard to believe but it works !! Glad to hear you were able to resolve the issue .. Please see if you can help Sohish with the sound issue ...thanks!
Oh man. Love to see dad and his boy on this project. Nice job young man!!
Very kind of you to say that 🙏🙏
Thank you!!! I've watched so many videos and this FINALLY was the one I needed to watch. This fixed my charging issue and I couldn't be happier!

Yes Sir, very kind of you to say that!! They quoted me more to fix than buying new, isn't this ridiculous !!

There may be damaged connectors or connections in the I/O board.
One of the best parts was your fine young helper! Good job!
Couldn't agree more!
Nice that the young son helped his dad help the rest of us on this Mac problem!
Thank you for the kind words, my son is my inspiration!!
Omg this helped me so much !! I did a screen repair and I had the cable the wrong that’s why it didn’t turn on or charge
You are welcome!
Dead macbook air 2017. When plugged in orange light is on but not turning green even overnight. Did SMC reset, battery connecter removed but all failed
Could be a battery problem, or could be another problem, not sure.
Next time, please film the corrosion cleaning as well! Thanks!!
Noted down!
Hey there,
My fan didn’t work what do i need to do please help

Thank you so much you saved my laptop and brought back to life It worked perfectly...........Thank you so so so so so so much 💓 💗 💛 💖 ❤ ♥
Glad it helped!
Hello what if the battery charger cable is damaged where can I get it
You can get spare or replacement chargers off Apple themselves, or you can opt for a third-party charger from amazon or a local store.
God bless you!!! This brought my device back to life!!!!
That's awesome, glad we could help!
Thank you....got mine working with your help.

Hi man
I need your help, my MacBook air isn't charge and the battery is too flat. And the LED of adapter isn't working.
Check for corrosion, If none is found, then your battery may be bad.

Thanks for the video. Next time try to get a static camera. The shaky camera is a bit distracting from what is otherwise a great video.
Thanks for the tip! This was not even intended for YT, came as afterthought as it may help some !!
The only solution that worked. Thanks so much man!
You're welcome!
Same information they provide me after diagnosed 😀. but I don't know how to fix it yet
The difficulty of repair depends on your model, if you don’t feel comfortable repairing it then take it to a reputable repair shop.
Many thanks for you, and Best wishes for your kid
You’re very welcome
SAVED MY LIFE!! Thank you so so sooo much!
Glad I could assist!
Mine is working but only on power source it says no battery available.
Please help me. I tried cleaning
Check the battery connector, It is very flimsy and will break easily. If it breaks... You have to be good at soldering or has to pay $$$ :(
did you find a fix? same problem
Did we lost data from mac after doing this?
noo
You should not lose data unless you damage the SSD in the process. Other than that you should be fine.

Glad to hear that!
Thanks so much great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks, I'll try it on my 2012 Mac Pro! We changed chargers 3 times and it still doesn't work🙁, hopefully this one will 😀
There is a small chance that your charging port is damaged, In which case it would be a good idea to get it repaired, But I hope our video helped!
@@Tasteofgyan yep that port was crap XD
Good to hear that it wasnt something major!

Make sure the fan is connected, You may have to replace it if necessary. But most likely its to do with one of the cables or circuit boards.
