I live in Canada and in an area where we’ve only had 61 cases in our city and surrounding area. We have done weeks of different stages of openings and we still haven’t opened anything indoors yet for business i.e. restaurants malls theaters. Every couple weeks based on the numbers, we have adjusted the phases of opening. Next week we will be attempting are phase 3 of opening and that’s only now. This country never thought about opening things too early only to go backwards. What’s happening to you guys is everything we were afraid of.

There is no way they would even be able to determine how far the kids fell behind in reading or math because no tests were administered after distance learning to measure growth. My husband and I opted to homeschool our kids last year because we live in a meh district and they were so far ahead. When i called the district to touch base on how to submit end of year paperwork, she actually urged me to homeschool next year. She said "we're doing our best but there are so many variables we cant control or predict. We are concerned its going to be very chaotic"
@@samanthathompson9812 He works very hard to enable us to do it, and we make some sacrifices because i don't being in much income right now (for example, we gave up cable years ago) but anyone working from home during lockdown could probably do it with either a little teaching experience, a good curriculum, and/or a grandparent to help if you're keeping them safe. A whole lot of the time taken up by traditional school is "transition" time: getting kids settled, getting them between subjects etc. A lot of the time you can do a whole day's worth of school in 2 to 3 hours if you homeschool. And with small kids, a lot of it can be play and game based.

These are hard times, and hardest for lower income families! But if anyone is considering homeschooling, they should seek out the home school groups in their state online for info, and know they can buy a curriculum that will show them or a grandparent exactly how to teach their kid a subject week by week. Curriculums can be very expensive, or pretty cheap (homeschool groups often help parents sell their used books!) The younger the child, the easier it is. Homeschool kindergarten is effortless. Best of luck out there, fam. We will get through this.

There is no way they would even be able to determine how far the kids fell behind in reading or math because no tests were administered after distance learning to measure growth. This is a projection and I would like to see the algorithm they used to determine it was exactly 7 months. Kids need to be in school but not if it involves even one person’s death.
College students have the mental discipline, hell they're paying for it. Grade schoolers, not so much. The virtual classroom is better than nothing.

A couple of girls I know been learning tik tok, it can teach you lots and its fun at the same time, plus they create content and so are flexing their creative muscles. Perfect for people who have short attention span. Anyway, who needs structured school, old school style?

My husband and I opted to homeschool our kids last year because we live in a meh district and they were so far ahead.
When i called the district to touch base on how to submit end of year paperwork, she actually urged me to homeschool next year.
She said "we're doing our best but there are so many variables we cant control or predict. We are concerned its going to be very chaotic"

@@samanthathompson9812 He works very hard to enable us to do it, and we make some sacrifices because i don't being in much income right now (for example, we gave up cable years ago) but anyone working from home during lockdown could probably do it with either a little teaching experience, a good curriculum, and/or a grandparent to help if you're keeping them safe. A whole lot of the time taken up by traditional school is "transition" time: getting kids settled, getting them between subjects etc. A lot of the time you can do a whole day's worth of school in 2 to 3 hours if you homeschool. And with small kids, a lot of it can be play and game based.

But if anyone is considering homeschooling, they should seek out the home school groups in their state online for info,
and know they can buy a curriculum that will show them or a grandparent exactly how to teach their kid a subject week by week. Curriculums can be very expensive, or pretty cheap (homeschool groups often help parents sell their used books!)
The younger the child, the easier it is. Homeschool kindergarten is effortless.
