  • Here’s my battle belt. I think the term “battle belt” is borderline homosexual. I prefer belt line setup. Whatever. It compliments my Condor MOPC Plate Carrier as part of my Minuteman Loadout. Check it out. This War Belt is set up to be an asset during SHTF or whenever Minuteman stuff is called for. in TEOTWAWKI you want to have all this gear on your belt.

    If your open to a suggestion from a battle vet I’d suggest you replace your food with some type of nutritionally dense weight gain powder which you can dump in one of the canteens and make that pouch a critical first aid pouch. High proof booze (better plastic container, no glass) quick clot, gun powder ect ect you know or can find out the rest but make room for super glue. The best it’s small and it WORKS for when you don’t feel like you need the powder, quick clot, to cauterize ect. Good video overall and would like to believe you are on the side of the winning right.

    Quick idea/observation from my own experience. I tend to use a clipper lighter in edc as the striker is removable, it is refillable and the flint is replaceable. You can put a decent flint in there instead of the crap one that comes with all these types of lighters. It's easier to start a fire with the removable striker when the fuel runs out than a static striker on a bic. They also don't cost much more than a bic here in the UK. Plus if you have some jute twine on you it will light up with the spark in pretty much any environment. Hope you find this helpful guys.

    Personally I wouldn't put those mags on the small of my back in case I took a spill, could be a recipe for injury. Just something to think about, great video!

  • @ScottyM1959
    @ScottyM1959 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Bear there is a company called ATS Tactical they have a great rifle ammo pouch that mounts to your gear horizontally so it makes it easier to grab those mags if the range has gone hot. You might have to rearrange you belt but you wont have to fumble with the clip to open the lid and then grab a mag.

    Can you do an updated video or set of videos on your current iteration of your whole miniuteman, militia, shtf system of belt/carrier/pack? I assume everything still in same or nearly same config but interested to know if you have made any improvements or changes.

    Bug out system- fully fueled Lexus RX 350 loaded with weaponry, food, sleeping gear, clothes, pets . . . it's the system of last resort. Not much different than my get home gear minus the pets. The idea behind a war belt is mobility without sacrificing lethality. Staying on station and defending it is not always the best idea. Very practical vid Bear.

    Also learn to snare trap. Bring cable. You can set traps right when you arrive at a stopping point at the end of the day. Also you can bring 1 or 2 leg traps. They weigh 8 once for the ones that catch small varmint

    I have no idea how anyone would run with this setup on. I agree with the philosophy 100% and just tried setting up a belt with only one canteen and it’s impossible to do anything that requires rigorous movement. The canteen flops everywhere and just makes it miserable. This setup makes me question Bear’s legitimacy.

      @@BearIndependent You may try making a peanut butter mixture I make for my big combat ruck ( U.S. MOLLE 2 Large combat ruck with some pouches MOLLEd on ). You get some heavy duty, resealable bags made of Mylar or similar ( I use Betty's Brownie Brittle and Peppermint Bark bags, as they each carry several pounds of the stuff ). Add however many pounds of peanut butter you want, some mixed dried fruit, mixed dried nuts, honey, hot coco powder, powdered milk, granola, and whatever you want. It's delicious, highly nutritious, covers all your food groups, keeps a long time, and it packs easily. Obviously, you want to carry a spoon/spork

  • @ninjagaming2036
    @ninjagaming2036 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So one thing, I have seen battle belts that do not have the harness straps, they instead just have little Velcro straps to connect to your actual every day belt. Are those useful or is it just a waste of time considering you have to put your water on there and ifak or spare mags etc etc

    • @BearIndependent
      @BearIndependent  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ninja Gaming this loadout would NOT work on a belt like that. Way too heavy, need the shoulder straps to keep things in place so the belt doesn’t end up around my ankles.
      A smaller loadout might work on a belt like that. A lot of guys use a belt like that as a range belt to carry a minimal IFAK, a couple spare pistol mags, and a rifle mag. But that concept and this concept are not the same.
      It’s also important to understand that this loadout is designed sustained engagement, not to pop a couple rounds and disengage.

    • @ninjagaming2036
      @ninjagaming2036 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awesome man thanks for the quick reply brother. I figured the lightweight was just for range but wanted to be sure. Me and my guys of course try to have a good system and as you said before we try to at least sustain ourselves for 15 mins worth of ammo. I’m 5’7 and 140 pounds and buddy believe me I will take the weight if it means I have enough ammo to sustain myself, which means NOT carrying 3 mags -.-
      When I was in Scout School for the Army they said the average time for a Scout to last in a firefight is 15 mins so why in the world are some guys out here carrying 3 mags! I’m little but my God I will take the weight!

    I own 5 Battle Belts, but my favorite one is my all leather set up. Chocolate brown, and great for horseback riding, and comfortable. 1 big 1 small pouch, small pouch holds 7 1911 magazines, larger currently has 200 rounds of .45 in it but that’s not my normal setup as it either holds more magazines or more water. , I have an Ontario bushcraft knife, survival scabbard.

    Which is the better magazine: PMags (as in video) or GI issue (okay/brownell brand)? I'm a former AK guy, so steel is my reference point.

    • @BearIndependent
      @BearIndependent  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Last excellent question; I’ve never bought a PMag that didn’t work out of box, but I’ve bought a few GI mags that didn’t work out of box. PMags have been 100% reliable, GI-style steel mags have been about 90% reliable.

    • @BearIndependent
      @BearIndependent  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I should add that I toss the GI mags that don’t work in the trash. There are mods and upgrades that can be done to remedy the inherent issues with the mag, but I want nothing but full confidence that a magazine works, otherwise I’m not carrying it.
      I also shoot ALL my mags from full to empty at least a couple times to make sure they work properly before they get added to a system.

    • @tonybayer2546
      @tonybayer2546 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only ever used PMAGs, but a couple military friends of mine have talked about how much they hate the metal mags and how they jam up. But then again, it could be because of how much they get reused.

    • @adshoiu8d
      @adshoiu8d 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Chief, point of order... Your canteens? Won't accept a lifestraw if you need one. Suggest getting something with a wider mouth, in case you need to drink from a questionable source.
    The military design on canteens probably went on the assumption of iodine based water purification tablets. Good to have both, but your canteens by themselves are a choke point. The sawyer is nice, but ime, having all those extra parts are points of failure if something should break or get lost. We can all improve and streamline.
    Good video. Much obliged.
    *You might want to get a rubber band or a hair tie, and wrap the button around the lighter to keep it from accidentally engaging and spilling out your lighter fluid/gas while in storage.
