But it's companies like Tesla which have challenged them, because they managed to show that EVs really do work, batteries last a long time if designed properly, and there is demand for these cars. @@pharaongaming8617 they can it's not exactly a good use of fuel. Normal hybrid get mediorce mpg. But plugin cars will get like 200mpg If you don't have a long commute. For example I have a volt and it's got 250+ mpg as it's average fuel economy. No diesel can match that economy.
Plugins don't count because they're shite if you don't plug them in. The S90 is great, but I for one wouldn't buy one as I live in a top floor flat and it wouldn't be good (lower mpg than equivalent non plug-in cars so why bother). More importantly though, by leaving out plug-ins, Car Wow have an easy filler video like this left in the bank.
The Prius 4 is the best out of these 10 hybrid car. He's the most and longest optimized one for the hybrid concept. Every other one stands in his shadow looking to conventionell, which means in a way boring, not having such low fuel consumption and offering often lesser space. The Prius has proven to be a very reliable car, most likely the most reliable of all cars in and out of the test. I own one.
I pick up my new Hyundai Ioniq in less than 2 weeks and am happy to see it reached the #8 position. The other cars in the list were either unavailable, out of my price range or in the case of the Yaris I couldn't physically fit (I'm 6'3).
I used to have a Lexus 220d years ago and, although it was the most comfortable car I have ever driven, the entertainment and sat nav system was baffling back then. Cant believe they are still making the same mistake years later
It makes no sense does it. I have no idea why they don't sort out their auto boxes and their entertainment systems. It's the only thing really holding them back. I've had 4 Lexus cars over the years and ran them to over 145k miles with next to no issues and certainly no major ones and Lexus customer experience is 2nd to none so why not listen to everyone and invest in a new system.

I totally agree with the Lexus infotainment centre I was going to buy one but even though I am IT literate and I couldn't program a route quickly, I did have the Infiniti Q50 hybrid which I loved but the boot was small. Love the channel guys
I'm surprised none of the BMW e models made it is. I know they are plug in hybrids but they work as normal hybrids if you don't plug them in. I know someone who owns a garage and complains that after about 5-7 years a lot of Prius come into the garage with serious issues with battery packs etc, I was quite surprised as I expected then to be reliable.

Toyota has 10 year waranty on the batteries, why would anyone complain about batteries? Its stupid... And i have never heard of any toyota hybrid having issues... It can happen, but its quite rare

The Mitsubishi doesn't come up to scratch, it sells OK because there are few other options. It's like the Nissan Leaf, it was one of the first so took some sales but as the competition catches up their sales will fall off a cliff. If you think the Tesla Model 3 can be bought for $35k and the mid range Leaf is about $33k there is an inevitability in its failure. There's also options from VW coming up that will be even cheaper. Who is going to buy a Leaf? Who will buy the Mitsubishi?
Totally agree with no1 being the Corolla as absolutely love my 2.0 excel touring sport. You don’t really even notice it’s a hybrid to be honest. It just drives & goes very nicely.
On paper my Lexus GS450h has 672bhp, at least it would if BMW were doing the figures (it genuinely does). German figures are bollocks, everyone knows that. BMW make some great cars, but the 530e isn't one of them. The only good hybrid they make is the i8. Edit: In case anyone stupid is reading, no my G450h obviously doesn't have 672 usable bhp. Doesn't stop most German manufacturers just adding their outputs up and claiming that. Same for Tesla and a few others who do it.
I have the Toyota Yaris Hybrid, its easy to drive and is really reliable. It's also my first car. I'd love that Lexus ES one day. The terrible entertainment systems is a pity
You fail to Mention the Mondeo hybrid and hybrid estate. Driven one and it’s more refined than the Corolla and much more roomy for only a slight price premium. If you drive it well it’s efficient to. I got about 48mpg with motorway drives and 60+ around town.
I have the Yaris, which is my first car and it's very easy to drive. The Prius is what all the taxi drivers seem to drive, the two seat Honda looks really cool

Matt, that black CR-V you're describing is the old model which never came with the hybrid technology. You're talking about the new hybrid model and showing the old model- poor, lazy journalism I'd say.
Both will exist side by side in the future. It depends on what you are going to use the car for. Hybrid if you sometimes drive long distances, and want the quick fill time of a petrol, and would like to drive in ev mode in the city like me. Or electric if you only drive in the city and nowhere else.
I think electric will slowly start taking over but hybrid is still a valid option for a lot of people. The government should invest into charging stations so people who don't have driveways can charge overnight.
I think Electrics will take over more and more now they are getting decent distance out of them and also as they develop more and more fast charging capability the negatives keep vanishing more and more. Plus as family cars go they have a lot of performance fun about them which non of the more affordable self charging hybrids do. Hell even the new Kia Niro/Hyundai Kona plugin out performs the Lexus RX here on 0-60
Hi Mat, can you do a video with "What is the best hybrid technology?". For example: take the new Toyota Corolla Cross vs Nissan Qashqai e-Power and go on the same track/road for the same distance and see which one is more efficient. I'm sure a lot of people will want to know that :)

Thank you for acknowledging the fact that plug ins are inferior to self charging hybrids . I mean I was surprised by Geneva where you had all these European (especially the Germans premium brands) proudly unveiling plug ins, which is a technology of the past, imo. Even the vw group had nothing to show for despite their winning Le Mans 919 hybrid (weird). The Japanese and Korean placed themselves well, presenting vehicles that are more and more attractive for everyone here in Europe.
I have the Carrolla on motability for just £700 plus the monthly allowance Beautiful car and quite frankly the build quality is so good i might just buy it outright at the end of the three years.

I drove a Yaris in Okinawa, I really enjoyed the car, except when it got shaken when typhoon Saola hit the island. Great experience!

Both will exist side by side in the future. It depends on what you are going to use the car for. Hybrid if you sometimes drive long distances, and want the quick fill time of a petrol, and would like to drive in ev mode in the city like me. Or electric if you only drive in the city and nowhere else.
I think electric will slowly start taking over but hybrid is still a valid option for a lot of people. The government should invest into charging stations so people who don't have driveways can charge overnight.
I think Electrics will take over more and more now they are getting decent distance out of them and also as they develop more and more fast charging capability the negatives keep vanishing more and more. Plus as family cars go they have a lot of performance fun about them which non of the more affordable self charging hybrids do. Hell even the new Kia Niro/Hyundai Kona plugin out performs the Lexus RX here on 0-60
Hi Mat, can you do a video with "What is the best hybrid technology?". For example: take the new Toyota Corolla Cross vs Nissan Qashqai e-Power and go on the same track/road for the same distance and see which one is more efficient. I'm sure a lot of people will want to know that :)
The "cheap" Yaris interior shown is not from the Hybrid version, as the Hybrid has an automatic gear box (and a better build center console).
I fail to se on which criteria you base your ranking. The list you publish here seems little more then then a random mention of cars thar have a hybrid setup.

This shows how much Japanese and Koreans focus on fuel consumption ONLY. Toyota, Honda Hyundai, Kia etc. These cars can be jigsaw puzzle when it crashes. Loved the video of the best Diesel engines in the market by carwow👍🏻👍🏻
How? Any car could crash and have destruction it's not just hybrids, it's not like they have their own car crash test.

I mean I was surprised by Geneva where you had all these European (especially the Germans premium brands) proudly unveiling plug ins, which is a technology of the past, imo. Even the vw group had nothing to show for despite their winning Le Mans 919 hybrid (weird).
The Japanese and Korean placed themselves well, presenting vehicles that are more and more attractive for everyone here in Europe.
You forgot the Rav4 hybrid. which i imagine is the best if u don’t find the dash a tad outdated
