This is a great alternative instead of for a bird - I have a bird and birds don’t fly up and down so that’s never suitable for them. They would rather have something longer than taller. Cute cage !
Just a tip to get your rats interested on chewing on there wooden toys if you live there wooden toys in their food bag not in the cage tho for a couple of days so then there chews smell like there food mix it worked for my rabbit and pasted hamster so I hope it will work for u :)
hi, late comment, but some tips for litter training: 1. pick up the poops they don't do in the litter tray and put them in there 2. clean the litter tray very frequently, every one or two days. 3. adding a litter tray close to their favorite hide or hammock. rats, especially boys, are lazy and this motivates them to use it. 4. using baskets and not just corner trays, not all rats like corner trays for some reason. this helped for me!
heyyy i have a french rat channel, but i do not own rats since two years, i miss them so much so i'm gonna get more rat in a month and i am so excited !! +1 sub :) i love to watch your vids while waiting for my new rats
The cage comes with a plastic tray for the bottom of the cage so its perfect size. I just cut a hole in the corner of it and put the wooden bird perches on the corners to support the ledge. Then I bought some acrylic to cover the exposed wire bottom on the floor. Alternatively someone has commented a link to a tray that is perfect size for the bottom. Good luck😊x
9:10 please please don't use the cage granules. They can be really dangerous. If you're having trouble with smell, buy or make a perspex base for your cage and switch to a bedding like "BEDMAX" or "Aubiose" and that will help a lot. 10:11 the reason they don't use that wheel is because it's too small. Males need a 16" wheel to be able to run comfortably. Tic Tac wheels are excellent but very expensive. Overall I think your rat care is very good, I'm not trying to make you feel bad or anything because your care is so much better than some other people's I've seen, I just wanted to point these things out to you, especially with the cage granules.
thanks for the advice :) can you tell me where you've sourced the info about the granules and maybe send me a link? I'v done research on it and haven't found anything saying its bad and there doesn't seem to be an issue with my boys. But if it really is dangerous id love to read about it from a reliable source x
@@KariMay_ hiya, to be completely honest I have no source. I have just spoken to many many longtime rat owners/breeders about things like this and none of the recommend the granules. One of the breeder's said she homed 4 rats out in 2 groups and one pair ended up being on those exact granules and died at 18 months while the other pair not on granules lived to 2 and a half. At the end of the day, it's your rats and your decision, but I definitely wouldn't recommend using them x
@@ralarattery1846 I have 4 boys and completely agree, the main thing is that they are completely unnecessary and when the cage smells bad it means it needs to be cleaned, not cleaning it can be just as dangerous to your rats as using the cage granules, when you put the two together it's even worse.
Amethyst The NightRainwing Why we can’t ?? I have one but she is awesome. When i bought her she was not little she was like ‘teen’ and with like hamster she is fighting so i think she would not be friendly with another rat so
hi! I have 4 boys and use fleece bedding also, I noticed people commenting not to use the cage granules bc they are dangerous (they are) but also the cage shouldn't smell that bad and if it does the only solution is to clean it (throw the fleece in the wash and replace it with fresh fleece). The cage granules are not only dangerous bc of the un-needed chemicals but masking the smell of ammonia is dangerous. Ammonia causes respiratory infections that are EXTREMELY common and very easy to get (my rat has one). So I REALLY recommend not using the cage granules and just cleaning the cage when you have guests.
Not a hate comment but rats can use ladders and it doesn't hurt there feet but wire flooring dose or wire wheels stuff like that but you have done a really good job of covering up wire ledges and things good luke with litter training :)
I just feel its safer not to have ladders as I wouldn't want their feet to get caught or anything☺️Also I think ledges/ropes are more fun haha. Their training is actually improving thanks!x

i have just ordered this cage, and just wondered how you attached the middle layer using the bottom tray? x
Hiya! The cage comes with some horizontal bird ledges. I just put these on the corners of the cage and just rested the tray on top. Good luck :)
Could you please show the locking system?
I can’t wait to get rats!! I love them😍

If you want to get your rats into chewing the chew toys you could put a bit of peanutbutter on them but they might just lick it of.

Rats would eat hamsters in the Wild, they have a different bond with other rats then anyone else

Where did you buy the kabob?
just amazon
Thanks for this video and i love it
Hi!! I know apparently wire is bad for rats feet but does the tinnier wire better or do u actually have to cover it with blankets?
Definitely always cover any wire theyre walking on x
covering wire with a blanket isn't enough, you should have pli-wood or plastic covered in a blanket.
when my friends are over and in my bedroom they straight up says it smells bad🙃
My cat has that orange toy hahah
how many rats are living in there?
just 3
When did tesco start selling dog food
Tesco always sells dog food well in my area they do don’t know about yours but they do :)
