great point about 2nd team. Just learning the ropes of the NHL. "1st team sees what you can't do. 2nd team sees what you can do". who knew Ray was the philosopher. great quote. must be a Cammy quote. Maybe give Ray too much credit with all those concussions. 😏

Ray is totally right about Demko. He's been away for far too long and he's lost his edge. Lankenin is a lot more reliable and consistent.

I am so happy about columbus. Wish canucks could learn a thing or 2 from them. I hope they make playoffs

Blue Jackets went into the season with no expectations, Canucks came into it with rather lofty ones

The new additions aren't the problem, with perhaps the minor exception of Desharnais, but that's an easy one to paper over. Hello?

My problem with moving Demko is that he's signed for another year at a very manageable $5M against the cap. Where are we going to find someone who's even close to what his level was pre-injury for anywhere near that number? And obviously, he hasn't played in forever, so it's taking time for him to get totally comfortable moving the way he used to. If they move him this season, they're probably not getting much back because of his injury history and recent play, and he could potentially rebound at some point and be an elite goaltender again, which means the Canucks got fleeced on a trade. We already know the Miller trade is a necessary evil where they're not getting market value back. You don't want that to happen again. Selling low on Demko could be a big mistake. If he's not playing well next season, then you probably move him at the deadline. Normally, moving a guy with a year left should earn a greater return, but given Thatcher's injury situation and recent play, I don't think the difference in this case will be that great. I would keep him and hope he rebounds. Given Lankinen's play, he's not going to play for peanuts next season, and we've seen if he's overworked, he struggles. The Canucks need 2 capable goaltenders to compete at all.

Demko looks like a guy who hasn't played in a couple years.

I watched the Buffalo game and it was obvious what was happening. The Canucks are only showing up to collect a paycheque, because they have to. They aren't going to make the playoffs now and there's no real heart and desire left in this team. Quinn Hughes is carrying the team on his back, and is one of the few players who consistently play 100%. Once in a while they all put out an effort to win, like the Oilers game last Saturday and a few others in the past. But they don't seem to care if they lose now. The Petterson-Miller soap opera never seems to end. Petterson is a total bust as the future franchise superstar of the Canucks, and the 5th Highest Paid player in the NHL. If anyone thinks he's going to get better in the future, forget about it. The loyal fans deserve a lot more.

Agreed. The Canucks absolutely don't care about winning, so why should their fans even bother to watch them or follow them. They don't even try to score a goal. All of this talk about a 200 foot game. They only play a 100 foot game. They skate to center ice, lob the puck into the O-zone and then get ready to back-check. They probably have the 32nd ranked offense over the past 2 months. They are absolutely horrible to watch most nights.

Technically quinn hughes is playing for his next contract. Garland as well. It’s a theme with many NHL players to play their balls off a year prior to signing something new. But Quinn is built different mentally
