Man Knoblauch didn't play a single professional game and now he's coaching 2 of the greatest players in the entire world Same with Capitals head coach. He played 5 years in the ECHL and will likely win the Jack Adams award. Meanwhile Patrick Roy is a terrible coach, Gretzky wasn't great either. If they're charismatic, articulate, and have good insight into the game, what does it matter?
He’s a smart guy. Your not gonna get stars who made millions wanting to do broadcasting and making 60K a year. Landon is a smart guy and Ray is fantastic. I think he will have a nice career.
@@dontworryaboutit273 I agree but you have to play a few more season. Tomlinson wasn’t a star but he has actual insight to the game because he actually played in the nhl for a while
Landon was a solid center. Great speed. Never really got a chance here in Detroit with Glendening taking that 4th line, pk center role. With Andersson, Sheahan and Helm all centers as well.
Nepotism, as we've experienced recently in Canada, is not something that we should tolerate. It often undermines merit and fairness, leading to frustration and inefficiency. Prioritizing meritocracy ensures that the best talents are recognized and valued, fostering a healthier and more productive environment.
I've known some hockey families (including the Sutters and Landon) and it is not so much nepotism but rather committed parental guidance to achieve. The kids of hockey parents have genetics on their side and they learn competitive attitude, which is gold. The more concerning topic is cost, which is astronomical compared to the old days. The son of a single mom rarely gets money to play on elite teams, they can barely afford a stick. Hockey is losing kids who don't have parents on their side. These days many of the kids play on rep teams during the summer months, too. Listen closely to Landon's story and you realize what these families sacrifice to give their kids a chance. In the end, coaches in the AHL don't care who your parent is, they are motivated purely on the basis of self interest, to win. It's also noteworthy that over half of kids playing in the WHL are born in the first two months of the year.
@@anthonyhicks872 Are you asserting that those who had a difficult childhood are against nepotism, while those who had a happy childhood support it? That’s an interesting, if not outlandish, position. Or are you are merely repeating something you’ve heard, like a meme? To me, nepotism, favoritism, and discrimination are unacceptable-particularly in a publicly traded company.
The stick work needs to end as well as the favouritism displayed to the top players like McDavid. Chicken wing elbow the night before and now the cross check. Myers’s is no better!
Mr. nobody acts like a big man making space for himself with his elbow. The elbow points to his dad, who got him the job. At 33 years of age maybe he should grow up, find a job for himself, and stop blaming his dad for everything.
God bless the Ferraro Family. Enjoyed watching Ray in the blue and green of Hartford.
Landon talks just like his dad
His dad is boring also. Its like Sportsnet doesn't know how to manage a multi-million dollar investment.
What a fantastic interview from everyone!
However, I really need to point out how great of an interviewer Scott is well done!!
18:16 Man Ray's face right there says it all.
I'm so old! I saw Landon play his Squirt hockey in Atlanta! lol
It’s crazy to have a guy that played 70 games in 4 years as you hockey analysis. Sportsnet doing Sportsnet things

Same goes for those enforcers that play or do less
@@mikemurphy8996 do you think he would of ever been even considered for the job if his name wasn’t Ferrero?

Can’t get over how much Landon sounds like his dad.
That 2002 Detroit team was an example of how great hockey can be.

Hockey culture is an old boys club
who hurt you as a child
It's all over the place. Start with female firefighters that can't pass the physical parameters that men do.

Boys club
What kind of watch is Landon wearing?
I would guess that its same watch as his dad has. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
The Nepotism in the NHL is disappointing
You can tell how emotional close these two are..Great people for the best game in the world..
I'm a Habs fan, and I saw Ray play for the Islanders during the Habs cup run in 1993. He was a force.
Man love the ferraros, well spoken , and chill people !

Great way to cap off Hockey Day in Canada!
Canadian accents or what eh?
