@@user-ic2ug8ys1z There are many with that flavor profile. The one mentioned in this video was Strawberry Verte. Ooltewah Nursery has it right now and we looked at them when we did the walking tour at 11 am. It's a nice fig, but a little on the late side.
I’m 28 and pray me and my wife are able to do things like this with each other as time progresses Love you guys videos and the information you share Mr Randal
I can't believe it!!! I live in Chattanooga and have a permaculture orchard with about 15 varieties of figs, and had NO CLUE this event took place!!!! I'm sick. I would have been there in a second. Wow.
@@gid1776 that's the best way to stay informed! I will send out an email early next spring with details. For now, mark your calendar for Sept. 14th, 2024. I hope to see you then. We are in Chattanooga, too, btw.
Hello We are in the Hudson Valley NY. As an Italian I grew up with my grandfather and father growing figs. I like figs but my wife LOVES figs and so I grow. We are a zone 5 it takes work to grow figs here. So nice to see all of together. Bravo
You struck gold with the C’est Bon. My wife says it taste like candy. I don’t know about that but it’s a deliciously sweet mild berry with a little tinge of melon. Prolific and precocious. It’s one of the only trees I have that didn’t have any issues with the heatwave in South Louisiana this year. Just kept on growing and putting out more figs. Matter of fact it’s still growing and putting out figs.
@@FlomatonFamous as a side note. (Fruit) The videos online don’t look like mine at all. Mine looks more like a RDB in size and shape but not as dark when ripe. I got mine from Brian so I feel very confident that it is correct. Very thin skinned, didn’t have much rain but the rain we had didn’t affect it much, first year cutting so I don’t know if it’s early, mid or late. I’m really hoping early so I can eat them all season, or should I say my grandkids can eat them all season. Every time they come over they go straight to that tree looking for figs. Haha Btw the pictures online from the “southern fig forum “ look correct.
It was a great event - well planned and well run. Huge shout out to Angel and Ian for making it all happen again this year. And thanks to Flomaton Famous for all the work putting together these videos, especially in preserving the expertise of the speakers. These videos will be referenced for years to come.
Thank you and a BIG thank you to @FlomatonFamous for recording the full-length presentations of both speakers. I can't wait to see both of them again. They also have videos for both speakers at the 2022 Fig Frolic, too.
I do hope you can come up next year. It was great meeting you at Fig-O-Rama, too. I meant to trade with you for a blackberry, but then we all got to talking and I completely forgot until I was halfway home!
Thanks for the video i hope to make it up there next year. Idon't have the Joualle Rouge Randall, but i have the Joualle Noire, i got it last year and i got to try it this year and it really surprised me i didn't expect it to be that good. Do you have JN
That's what figs look like in the South by the end of summer. Mine look about the same too. I grow organically and do not spray for rust or other fungal diseases (neither does the nursery) because I know it's only cosmetic and not anything to be concerned about. Personally, I do want to use chemicals on something growing my food, but each person has to make their own choices as to what's best for them.
+1 for ANY fig I can get to grow in my yard! I can relate. Thank you Angel and crew for building community.
😃🌱🐢
I am curious about the fig favors. Which variety taste like a strawberry? I need that fig in my life. 😃

Ill get to a fig gathering one of these days. Work and having a toddler takes alot of time. Really enjoyable to talk to folks and learn.
Gotta plan it out.

That's great to hear, I've had my eye on that variety for a couple of years.

I don't have it, I do want to add it.
Wish I could have made it but I had to go to work in Missouri. What is the name of the nursery in Chattanooga I can stop by on the way back to FL
ooltewah nursery
No disrespect but the nursery figs don’t look so good.
Neither do mine this time of the year. I'm sure they look better during the active growing season.
