@FlomatonFamous Interesting that you didn't use parafilm or dip the tops in wax like you did in another video. I take it you did not have an issue with them drying out? Also did you post a follow-up video on the results of the soy soap?

Why not use landscaping woven fabric? Go straight down your rows and mulch the drip ring. No more weed eating and extend soil temp. The woven fabric lets rain though.

I tried rooting Dwarf Mulberry cuttings in potting soil and had a 100% failure rate. Then I stuck about 10 cuttings in average dirt near a tomato and a cucumber and 9 of them rooted.

How do I get the actual Southern Brown Turkey or Eastern Brown Turkey fig tree that resembles a large Celeste fig and is famous for hardiness? The California Brown Turkey fig is delicious and tastes like very ripe peaches when grown during a drought in Louisiana but if it rains just once the fruits split in half for weeks. I can save them from spoiling with organza bags to keep the bugs out but I don`t want to keep doing this.

I got a bunch of small lightweight 8x10, 10x10, 12x10 etc tarps (easy to handle for one person) to cover blooming fruits trees & blackberries when we have late frosts in spring. This is particularly important with early bloomers like Prime Ark Freedom blackberries, stone fruit trees and fig trees coming out of dormancy here in Louisiana. I also use them in winter to wrap/cover fig trees and winter greens when we get Arctic blasts. Wireless thermometers are very useful to monitor real temperatures in your yard or under fruit tree coverings if using a heat source like LED lights or water in buckets containing low wattage water heaters under tarps/plastic. I have a collection of cheap no-name solar batteries for portable power. I grow my own food so I do whatever it takes to protect it.

My Tena Tissue Culture that was supposed to be a Black Madeira is 2 years old now and still hasn’t fruited! But it’s grown vigorously and so have the 2 varieties I grafted onto it this spring (DSJG and Pastiliere). And both of those HAVE fruited. I’m curious what Tena fruits are like, but I may graft over its last two branches next spring instead of waiting to see.

This gentleman has so much knowledge! I could listen to him speak all day.

It looks like it would make a nice critter house for a grandbaby or neice/nephew if you ever needed another use!

I don't know if this applies for plant tissue work, but a mycologist said not to use bleach to sanitize because he's seen it cause some crazy genetic mutations and to stick to 70% isopropyl alcohol. I thought that I might just mention that in case. Thanks for easy build instructions.

Very good technique with the wax to seal in the moisture for the cuttings. Can this be done with other hardwood tree and shrub cuttings besides figs? Also, do you leave the wax on the cutting permanently and the new growth pushes through the wax coating when it comes out of dormancy? Thank you.

Great video. I never thought to use wax instead of parafilm. What proportion of each type of wax do you use, ie paraffin, beeswax and toilet seal wax? I’m going to try this with grafting scions on avocado and citrus. Thanks!

Once I root them in garage on a heating mat, can I put them in a greenhouse for further development thru winter? I’m in Zone 9A-Houston

With the baggie method, folks usually wrap it in foil afterwards to keep it dark and cool. Might be worthwhile with these in the heat of summer too, although the additional step means even less advantage to these plastic balls.

I think I saw somewhere that Pakistani mulberries are harder to cultivate from cuttings than other mulberries? If that’s right, you did pretty well with those air layers! Thanks for the video; I use the ziplock bag method for air layers, but I’ve wondered if those balls are easier.
