200 + trees!?!
They are healthiest just cooked in water.. no fat added. They are freshest when the leaves are still closed tightly.. not opened.
Is Mr. Stephenson still alive? I saw your interview with him last year and learned so much about the old southern apples. I would love to have the Shell and Cauley because the Anna and Dorset Golden can't handle our humidity, both something like powdery mildew and I don't think liquid copper will fix whatever has infected them. The Granny Smith is doing okay but had only two blooms this year and dropped them shortly after blooming, it's still a young tree and I'll have to see how it goes. Tell me where I can get the Apples grown in the deep Deep south.
Where are you located? I have Shell for sale but I'm out of Cauley, and yes Larry Stephenson is still alive and selling trees lol. You can find him on Facebook.
@@FlomatonFamous I don't fb, and I live just south of Dothan Alabama. Are you in central Al or farther north? Do you ship your apple trees?
No problem, we are just above Pensacola, Fl. Feel free to email us at FlomatonFamous@gmail.com Yes I can ship the trees. They are in a 4"x4"x9" tree pot and the trees are between 2-3 ft tall. I have a few that I grafted last year. They are $25 a piece plus the cost of shipping.
@@FlomatonFamous does the Shell need a pollinator?
@@Maria-ql3fc it’s self fertile but you’ll get way more fruit with a pollinator
Great video! You didn't have those cutters at the Keeper's event. lol How long should I wait for a graft to see if it's going to take? The one I did at the Keeper's event seems to be just sitting there. I planted it and have kept it moist and in the shade.
The cutters were delivered after Keepers. I would have thought that it would be pushing growth by now. Did you graft an apple or pear? My pear aren’t pushing much growth yet
@@FlomatonFamous It's a southern Bartlett. I really didn't expect my first graft to make it anyways. lol
Ok, my pear aren’t growing yet either.

How is Flomaton as a city, town? We are considering moving there. On the outskirts, but still want to know
I absolutely love the community here, everyone knows everyone. The school ranks in the top 25 in the state. Cost of living is way cheaper than any of the neighboring areas. It's a pass through town and all shopping needs are a small drive.
@@FlomatonFamous I’d like to know more. We plan on flying down to check it out soon
@@jtcindahaus feel free to reach out to me on Facebook Randall K White if you want to chat. There's not much in the actual town itself. Couple of fastfood chains, one restaurant, a dollar general, 4 traffic intersections with lights.
@@FlomatonFamous I did.
I love artichokes!! Try stuffing them Italian style. Mmmmm
I love them also, we are planting more this year.
how many watts does it draw I have 400 watts solar n 100 watt battery wonder if I could use it w that I am a newbie,,,
I believe it's 275 watts. I would have to look when I get home.
Any concern of nemtodes planting them in the ground?
We don't have a big nematode problem here.
Thx, enjoyed watching technique and grafting tips. Question: is there a better time of the year to make grafts? When to plant out roots stock? I've had good success with fig air layers and cuttings.
Thank you, for most trees that go dormant, grafting is primarily done when the tree is breaking dormancy. What tree are you specifically asking about?
@@FlomatonFamous Fig trees
When grafting figs, it's ideal to use dormant scion wood and graft to actively growing trees. Or you can do a bud graft of an active growing bud to an active growing rooststock tree. I don't graft figs because of the risk of the top dying during the winter and the rootstock coming back.
Thats not fruit cocktail that's just a bowl of pears
Thats awesome. Thanks for the lesson.
Glad you liked it!
Impressed, I didn't know that there were even more than a few varieties! Figs and dates must be the most under-rated quality food. Except the ones grown from sewage water in Tellyvive!
Where is Tellyvive?
My old fig, brown turkey is never harmed by frost, but a wild seedling that I bought back from Greece had its newly opened leaves singed at minus2! UK
Some trees are very cold sensitive. I lost 3 varieties his year to the cold. Others didn't seem bothered.
Super Video. Danke
Thanks!
OMG that is a lot of work
Sure is.
I just started watching. We found a house in Flomation. What are the good, bad and ugly with this area? We got some younger kids. Im in my mid 40s, looking for ATVing, growing food and fishing. Let me know. I'll be watching more of your videos.
Awesome! Welcome! You happen to have stumbled upon one of the greatest small towns in America (in my opinion) lol. Where is your house? Actually our little school is ranked in the top 25 for the state. When you get involved in the community you'll find that everyone knows everyone. I grew up with an ATV and drove it everywhere. We have Bogs and Boulders up in Brewton if you are looking for the ultimate ATV experience. As far are growing your own food, we also have my good friend David the Good (go check out his channel and books). We have a good local circle of homesteading friends around here that help teach others about growing food. Connect with us on Facebook also. Flomaton Famous.
Oh my goah. The suspence youre putting us theough! Cant wait for you to show that one cutting you got! Btw, glad to see im not the only one struggling to cut through a stwm like that! Great video!
Is there any requirement for the bud scion from a tree of a particular age? I've heard that scion wood from a fruit tree that flowered and fruited for a few years is preferred.
No requirement, it's the parent tree is already fruiting then the bud will be "mature" also.
Makes me miss Buddy. He was my Pyrenees. He wouldn't let no other animal around his chickens and ducks. If one ever got sick he would take some of his food to them. 😢
oh that's awesome that he took care of the animals like that.
@@FlomatonFamous for being nearly 200lbs he was a gentle giant. He was super gentle especially around biddies. He lay in the yard and let them walk and lay on him. ☺️
Is there an easier way of doing this after youve been through this process?
just be sure to register the trailer as a utility trailer before building the camper on it.
@@FlomatonFamous then can you register it as an rv after you get it built? Will it qualify for rv insurance?
Nice work. One thing you mention about A/C being on the south side is that a 5 gallon bucket can be inverted and used to shade cuttings during the heat of the day--from 11am to 4pm roughly. Looks amazing how many plants did you plant in all?!
probably about 100 seed
Thank you!
i looked through your videos and never found the follow up on these styles of propagation. did you do a followup? thanks for the video
I never did a followup video on this video specifically. I've shown results in other videos. The followup for the A/C unit is, the cutting is still there and growing, I never moved it lol.
Indonesia, nyimak !
Wow, Mr. Abdul’s fig garden is amazing. I bet it smells amazing out there.
Smells like figs lol
Amazing, it’s gonna be so nice and strong.
Thank you!
Excellent work, looking good.
Many many thanks
I have to say, that build was BOSS! If you had it sitting at a garage sale, I'd buy it just for how cool it looked. I wouldn't even have to know what it is! 😆 As far as the overall design, I think it would have been nice to have the filter fill the entire workspace. Just to improve the laminar effect and reduce the turbulence and possibility of backflow from outside the hood back into your work area. But that clear top and interior light was a very nice touch! I hope you have much success in your nursery!
Thank you for the compliment. I went back and forth about having the filter fill the back wall.
Hey I missed y’all at Petals From The Past meet and Greet today. I was there. 😂😂. I would like to get an apple tree from you like the one Tracy from Just Did It Farms got from you. . Do you ship? Also I was coming back from Pensacola today and I went through a town called Flomation. It’s that where you got your name for your channel?
Hey, We were at Petals today, last tent. I was grafting the Shell apple trees while I was there visiting with people today. Yes, we live in Flomaton. It's a pass through town.
@@FlomatonFamous Do you ship the apple trees and how much. What is the story about these?
I appreciate the family together thing. My daughter loves doing this with me. Its your home you invited us into and i have no criticism of how you do it. Thanks!

I found your channel thru Lazy Dog Farm. I live over north of Robinsonville. Not far from you. I have ordered a dozen and I guess I will pot them up the first year since it’s a little late. And they’re very small, 6” or so. That will give me time to put in a drip system. What is your spacing? Do you prefer the pine straw mulch, or what about wood chips?
Hello neighbor, my spacing is 12' and I don't have a preference on mulch layer both are fine. I'll be mulching with compost this year.
I want some grafts from your trees im in east orlando!!!!!!!

Loved the rap! 🙌🏼 Is there a follow up video to show the progress of the mushrooms? I’ll have a look! It was great to meet you this weekend. 😀
Lol, Mechelle said the video was way to boring and she put the rap video in there lol. I never followed through with the mushroom project. to many things got in the way. I still have everything to start it back up. Maybe one day. Thanks for watching, it was good meeting you also.
Let me know how I can buy rooted plants from you. I am in High point, NC
Maybe you can go to one of the fig events they attend and they can bring what you want.
Thank you Will.
Thank you, you can also find most of these same varieties on Figbid.com
Great video again. I look forward to hearing about the results of “with and without” the magic white bottle.
