Thank you very much for sharing your talent. It took me almost the whole day trying to figure out what is wrong with my Singer sawing machine. GOD BLESS YOU. 😊
I purchased a singer 20u approximately four months ago. I have been refurbishing the base and the table top with new laminate new plywood new paint. I have greased and oiled the unit. Are you done thread of the unit found that your Bobben was broken, I bought a new bobbin case. I then went to so that’s when the problem occurred . The needle was not picking up the thread the machine was not showing nothing was working right. I then came across your video on the Internet about timing on Singer sewing machines. It is not the same machine for the same principle the way you’ve explained it and shown us how to fix timing on the machine was incredibly helpful and I want to take this time to say thank you because now I have a machine that works very well, because of your help. Sincerely Mario.
I bought a singer 4423 myself and threw the timing off a few days back. Going to get it fixed isn’t an answer now with so many shops closed for Covid19. His note about holding down the middle was what helped me fix my machine. After An embarrassing amount of time figuring that out, my machine is back up and running. This was really helpful.
I’ve found a new channel! I’ve gone crazy after sewing on my 3 different $7500 production fur and leather machines I came into possession of a “Free!” Singer 717. This machine DOES NOT serve breakfast in bed like the others! Getting the bobbin wound correctly, the gears oiled and the timing adjusted I’m finally sewing glove leather for presents on Christmas DAY! (It’s a good thing we’re having our family gift exchange TOMORROW! Thank you!
Wanted to thank you, I volunteered to fix the machine after the lady had had the gears replaced and it failed to pick up the thread from the bobbin. I had done so much other research and as a last resort I checked youtube for guidance. I watched your video and was able to fix the machine!!!!.......You were very on point with your information!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your skill. I was puzzled why all of a sudden the lower thread wasn't being picked up. Two minutes to adjust and my machine works fine again. Blessings and light ✨️🙏🌟🙏✨️
Thank you so much! I was gifted a singer heavy duty machine before I went off to college by my bosses after I left the store and I just got this problem this past weekend. I spent the entire day trying to figure out what to do and how to fix it because I have an action program project due this Thursday and if I don’t finish it then I won’t be able to take it home with me. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR THIS INSTRUCTIVE AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO!! You just might’ve saved me some time and money from repairs and the chance at me getting to keep my project! 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I just fixed my 6215C with your help and now it sews perfectly again. I don't have a technician here where I live, so I'm very grateful!!
I called singer today about my machine, after a 45 min wait on phone, with the explaining my issue they tell me it’s the timing it’s only two weeks old! This absolutely was so much more helpful and it worked!, Thank you very much! You know your stuff!! Great customer e!
This video is an awesome view, of what is under the Bobbin Case and the movement of the Hook to Needle Relationship. My husband used this lesson to fix my sewing machine last December as I hurried to finish some Christmas gifts. I bought my old beast because it is mostly mechanical, and most of this problems can be fixed at home. This year as I hurry to begin some christmas gifts, I broke my beast again. Now it's my turn to fix the timing. We bought the Singer Futura 900 Service Manual Copyright 1974 and are putting it to use with this lesson. *Best practice Set the machine to Straight Stitch Stitch Width dial set to Zero Needle size 18 which I don't have. Needle position selector on the RIGHT instead of the left. Round hole needle plate, which I also do not have. I'm going to pick up a Size 18 Needle tomorrow and wing it on the rest. You didn't let my hubby down so that is the best endorsement of this Lesson.
Thank God that I still have the owners manual... As it turns out Size 18 Needle is Style 2020!!!!!!!!!!! It is an all purpose needle and I've got that. Yeah!
Aloha from Naalehu in Hawaii! You, kind sir know what ur talking about! Thank you times a million; exact, precise, clear & understandable 👍kudos 2 u!! Keep up the great info & vids....I luv people who luv 2 share.. ✌ Linda
Thank you so much ....I need to adjust the timing on a 1950s Elna Supermatic and I know that your clear instructions will go a long way towards doing this!!!!👍👍👍👍 greetings from Kenya, East Africa
Brother, we figured out that the timing was off on our machine, but didn’t know how to actually correct it. Your video showed us the exact problem (our machine was even off by the same amount as your example) and gave us the confidence to loosen the bottom shaft and properly set the timing. Our Singer works properly again. THANK YOU!
Thank you for this! My machine wasn't sewing the special stitches, but did straight so I just lived with it. Then those stopped too. After 5 different videos and none worked, i found this one. You explained what to do, why to do it and my machine is no longer ready for the scrap pile!!
Thank you thank you City Sewing for giving me back my joy. Since the pandemic my local sewing machine repair shop has been incredibly backed up. They have had my serger for almost a year! When my sewing machine timing got off, I nearly cried; but with your help, I’m back up and running! You brought me joy. May God bless you for sharing you skills.
Now thats how to expertly explain a timing fix.. Trying to fix my wife's machine all week with no luck. Fixed in minutes after watching your video. Thank you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
the zigzag tip was VERY helpful, along with the needle tip distance one. I'm working on my cheap plastic sewing machine and here's hoping I can save it! Thank you for your helpful video!
Awesome video! I was able to fix my wife's Singer embroidery machine timing based on yourinstructions instead of taking in to have it fixed. Saved me some money and now the machine works like brand new! Thanks for posting this video!
You saved the day! Your video was the best one to show close-up pictures of what I was looking for. My machine is not that old, and the timing was off very quickly. I was not happy! A few quirks to work out with the tension setting, and I will be good to go. The machine was not even stitching before, and now it works beautifully. Thank you!
Thank you for this video! Very well done. I got my machine repaired right before the pandemic after 10 years of use. After 1 year of sewing masks, the timing fell out of alignment again! (Just goes to show how much it is being used.) But the sewing machine repair shops are all busy, with 30 day backlogs right now. This video helped me get my machine back up and running properly again!
My wife’s sewing machine was bending the needles and failing to grab the lower bobbin thread, found this video very useful in terms of how to adjust the timing thank you very much! Our particular sew machine was slightly different in terms of how to loosen the bobbin rotator as it didn’t have a lower nut as per the video. I worked out that the shaft that goes into the lower rotator can be disconnected via a couple of allen key grub (slacken off) screws located on the gear/pulley near the central smaller belt, this then allows you to slip lower bobbin rotor to the correct position . Then it was just a case of adjusting the timing as per the video and tightening the two grub screws once aligned.... Thanks again Dai Jones of the UK
I had to do this on a Pfaff industrial machine. I bought it used and it would miss stitches sometimes but one day it got jammed with thread which moved the hook gear even more. Good tip is if your machine jams don't try to force it - stop and clear the problem. Thank you for a great video!
My friend's Singer was skipping stitches & bobbin thread was loose between each stitch. Many thanks for this helpful video on fixing the timing & now, all stitches are there. Regarding the bobbin thread being too loose goes, the solution was to adjust a tiny screw located on the bobbin with a single clockwise turn to tighten its tension. Cheers!
Hello, I live in France, I very much appreciated your video and your explanations, I did not find any explanation of a French technician to explain to you in what ways it is necessary to carry out the adjustment, the purpose of a technician in France, is to charge you for cleaning and adjustment for a lump sum between 90 and 150 dollars, on second-hand shopping sites for individuals who sell their almost brand new machine because people cannot not pay for the adjustment, which represents roughly three quarters of the purchase amount, it's simple for the technicians, a user has enough to pay and a technician has expenses to pay, and if the customer cannot pay they put the blame on the planned obsolescence of the manufacturer, knowing that today the majority of machines are manufactured in Asia.
This was so helpful! I’ve been watching some of your videos over the last year and really appreciate you taking your time teaching us how to work on our machines 🙏❤️
Thank you so much for posting this. The detail about the height of the eye in relation to the hook, and the specifics of how to set the timing on a zig-zag machine on the leftmost position, made all the difference and solved a problem I'd almost given up on. Well done!
Me. I don’t know how to ever thank you 🙏 I just did it I fixed the timing on a Singer 4220 which I acquired New Year’s Eve I thought that it was the tension so I worked on it for 10 hours and 28 minutes non stop then it worked fine until I tried a zigzag stitch and came back to a straight stitch and I figured it had to be the timing I followed you to the letter about fixing the timing and it works on all of my stitches 🧵 I wish I could give you a big hug but I’ll say thank you 🙏 from the bottom of my heart ❤️ and happy sewing
Thanks for this. I had two issue with slant shank machine. needle bar was too far back and needle was hitting hook on zig zag causing thread shredding, timing was also a bit off, adjusted bar and set timing using your video now it sews great.
Long ago someone showed me how to do this but i had forgotten, thanks s bunch! I have about 5 machines that i can use again! Hooray! You're a life saver!
Thank you very much !!! We sew respirators. The machine broke and I had to disassemble the entire lower mechanics. I couldn't have done it without your advice.
Thanks for the video. I took it apart to fix something and broke a Needle when i put it back together. Figured the timing was off somehow and found your video. All good now as wife is happy I fixed it.
You may have just saved what's left of my sanity. Thank you! Singer CG590 not built the same but the principle you explained was enough to make it work.
This saved my life I have a confidence 7463 the timing went it was going to be 2 weeks to send it back to singer I removed the cover plate and used a Allen key to loosen the grub screws, turn it in to place and and tighten again, runs perfectly now
Amazing! This is the most helpful video I've seen. Unbelievable! Thank you. I have a brother machine, but no other video has broken timing down in such great detail. Perfection!
Thank you a million times!! You were so clear at explaining, and I was able to fix my machine, in time to finish two Christmas quilts! I cannot thank you enough. P.S. your voice and inflections are like listening to one of our caring, patient priests! Lol.
Excellent explanation and showing clearly what was happening with this thread issue. Thank you! My issue on a brand new machine (not Singer) but i am not fixing any part; i am returning and maybe getting another brand (hunting for it).
This was very informative. I don't have the same type of machine but the tip of having it to the needle to the left was the best. My machine was sewing straight just fine but the left was out of alignment. I was able to find a video for a machine similar to mine. But using your tip made the difference. Thank you.
Very good explanation. I have a different model Singer but because you share your fundamental understanding of how it works, hook catching thread as it gains slack on the upswing, I know I will be able to set mine properly. Thanks.
Thank you so very much your video will help me get my Singer 4411 working correctly, and I hopefully I can get my older Necchi 575FA timed correctly as well. I believe the theory of operation should be the same even though the two machines are different.
Thanks so much for this video! It was super helpful and even though my machine is very different from this one I was able to understand exactly where my needle and hook should be to have the best timing.
Fantastic! Clearly and thoroughly explained with insights from your experience. Very helpful. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and talent!!!
Appreciate your attention to detail and repetitive instruction - it is extremely helpful. We disassembled Singer 4423 to cleanout all the crud, but mistakenly loosened the triple screws holding the carrier unit of bobbin/feed dogs thus disrupting the timing. I was able to adjust the feed dogs manually and then reset the gearing to get the hook to grab the thread eye/needle at just the right time!! As a bit of a gear head for old classic cars, I was not going to get beat by a different kind of machine - your video and explanation helped a TON. after all - if I can set timing on a 68' GTO, I can do it on a sewing machine right? thank you again - I am now a subscriber!
Thanks! Just had to work out that there are actually two screws you have to loosen and you have to turn the knob to access both for anyone else struggling
Man you awesome. I look for how to time a machine forever. I wound up playing with it till it started sewing. Even bought a new machine off eBay to match up measurements. That thing was out of time to
Thanks and I appreciate the clear video. Although for my Singer machine, it made the zig-zags skip on the right side because the hook was passing the needle before it was coming up and putting enough slack in the thread for the hook to catch. Pretty much followed the same thing but on the right side and set the hook to pass the needle just as it started to come up and put just enough slack in the thread to catch it. Then I switched it to the left position to ensure the hook was still above the eye in the needle when it passed on that side. I'm sure with your experience, you can get it right by checking only one side, but for amateurs like me, it's probably best to check both the left and right positions before putting the covers back on.
Awesome video. Very Clear. I have a Singer CG500 which is probably a 1990s machine. On the underside there's no peep hole and no obvious way to loosen the shaft. Any chance you can share some tips on the bottom side? Lots of folks seem to want to know. Many thanks. Your blessings are stored in heaven!
Come on people commenting, this video sux it didn't show anything other then repeatedly saying needle must be on left position. The most the video did was get people to wonder if they could fix their own sewing machine and some were able to probably by trail and error. So stop giving this video credit you did it yourself the video DIDN'T show anything not even what he had to loosen underneath. Was it a screw, nut.or bolt? So stop giving this video credit if you fixed your machine you did it yourself and you all deserve the credit for doing it. Good Job to those who figured out how to fix your own machine.
Thanks Robin great video what us people that want to learn to service their own machines. I am into the old school late 40's - late 60's machines. The work horse for home sewers.
thank you so much, you were the best!! You saved me 120.00 on service. I was able to fix the timing on my bobbin. Excellent instructional video. The specific position of the needle on the hook was the best tip for me. n
SOMEONE NEEDS TO GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE. I WILL GIVE YOU A KISS FOR HOW HELPFUL THIS VIDEO IS 💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤

I have the same problem, how can the timing be out on a new machine?
@@jenniferchadwick1957 they do that, that is why they sell you warranty because they know it's not gonna last and that is how they make their money.

Nothing has changed in timing since well over 100 years ago. This just happens to be an outstanding video on how to do it.
Excellent video. To the point, nice camera shots and detailed. Thanks👍
Perfect! I'm back in business better than when I had the machine timed professionally!
You may have just saved what's left of my sanity. Thank you! Singer CG590 not built the same but the principle you explained was enough to make it work.

Wow I have just fixed my singer 1301 it was skipping stitches. This is the best tutorial everrrrr. Thanks
Awesome video, thank you so much! I'm a sewing mechanic in "training" LOL. And these make the hook timing information VERY clear.
Brilliant no other words if you time the machine this way to the left the other two positions have to be spot on thank you
another happy customer . . . my 457 is back to sewing . . . had to put on a new top gear
Nice work! great to hear that
Thanks you so much!! GREAT VIDEO and just saved me the time and money of taking my machine for adjustment!! You're the best!
I never knew exactly what timing was. Great video!!!!!
Thanks.
Your video was "spot on" , except I had the most trouble removing the plastic cover to get to the hook assembly. The fix from there was easy.
great
Thank you so very much your video will help me get my Singer 4411 working correctly, and I hopefully I can get my older Necchi 575FA timed correctly as well. I believe the theory of operation should be the same even though the two machines are different.

Omg u saved my life ... best teaching video ever ...God bless
Glad it helped!
Thanks so much for this video! It was super helpful and even though my machine is very different from this one I was able to understand exactly where my needle and hook should be to have the best timing.
Thanks. You saved me a trip to the repair shop.
Glad to help
Thanks very much for this video. It's fantastically helpful. I was able to repair my newly bought fairly used singer machine. I'm grateful.
Fantastic! Clearly and thoroughly explained with insights from your experience. Very helpful. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and talent!!!
Wow! It's working. Sir, Thank you very much for sharing your skill. I wish we will get more help from your shared experience.
My singer also has this problem. The video was very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much sir! Thats a huge help since in here fixing and servis cost me almost about the same price as to buy a new one!!( ridiculous price)
Love love your videos. You explain everything really well. Thanks
LOve it, the Left setting was the KEY for me. Many thanks.
this is the best, clearest video on timing, thank you!!
Glad you think so! im happy for you.
Thanks! Just had to work out that there are actually two screws you have to loosen and you have to turn the knob to access both for anyone else struggling
nice.
What or which knob do you mean? Thank you regarding the 2 screws.
This is the best instruction in the global web ! Rescue for my machine and me🤣🤣😎😎! Thank you !
I’m here because I don’t have access to a repair person 😭😭😭 wish me luck.
Trust me!!! It is better if you can do it yourself instead of getting charged 80 USD for something this simple to fix.
I am here because I don't have $100 to spend on a $25 mini sewing machine I bought online
You really saved me, thanks to you I now have my sewing machine working.
Rosa Garza I followed him to the T and it works like a charm now happy sewing 🧵

Man you awesome. I look for how to time a machine forever. I wound up playing with it till it started sewing.
Even bought a new machine off eBay to match up measurements.
That thing was out of time to
Glad I could help!
I'm sure with your experience, you can get it right by checking only one side, but for amateurs like me, it's probably best to check both the left and right positions before putting the covers back on.
i try a nerw video later,
Thanks so much very clear on how to do this job this will work on other brands of machines i think
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with everyone! It save my time and miney😊
I watched the whole thing and took notes. This was a great class!
What did you do to fix it. He did not show us.
Perfect! Set the timing on a Singer 6136 using your video. Thanks!
