Yes my husband is a urology surgeon. He is kidney surgeon in particular. I really wonder how can I take care of him and be more understanding. When I feel my needs aren't met, i can be really cranky. And I am scared I am not putting myself enough in his shoes. What he sees during the day, the injuries the cancer patients, and also the inhumane amount they make him work in the country we are in. For example when they force him to work and entire long shift after he had done a 24 hour shift. So he ends working 32 hours straight without any sleep. I wonder if there are certain sacrifices I need to make as a wife of a surgeon.
Your wife is such a wonderful woman.. you both are wonderful! I cannot imagine how stressful sometimes being a neurosurgeon can be.. so much respect for you and your wife for doing what you guys are doing!☺️
What a lovely talented family. You guys deserve a lot of respect juggling all the things life brings you but also handling challenging careers that save lives
Imagine where both their lives would be at if the lovely wife didn’t step out of her comfort zone and show small act of kindness by reaching out to a stressful guy. This was amazingly sweet and it just goes to show that a simple act of kindness can go along way
hope one day every woman can get a husband that is as amazing as your wife and is ready to make sacrifices too so their wifes can chase their dreams as well if they want
You guys gave me hope! I want to study medicine, paediatric neurology to be specific and I always think about how am I going to have a family. You guys are so inspirational 🙌🏻
Your husband is a hero in my eyes, it wasn't him who fixed me but someone just like him I had a ruptured aneurysm back in March this year I'm now fully recovered thanks to people like your husband it was a neuro surgeon in northern ireland that helped me but it could have been any neuro surgeon you truly are blessed to have him
Greetings from the US! Much respect to the both of you. I once asked my mom's neurosurgeon what life was like. He replied with, "you work too much, and you're never home to spend time with the family. But I love what I do." I'm planning to apply for the Physican Associate program next year (in the US) and one of my goals is to work in neurosurgery. Thank you for providing us with these videos.
Yeh it's a shame. I think the hours are even worse in the US. Good luck in becoming a neurosurgery PA. It's a relatively new role here compared to you guys but people seem to enjoy it!
As a female wanting to go into Medicine and have a family I find your's and Sahar's journey so inspiring! Thank you for sharing a part of your life on the internet ~ this is one of my favourite videos ever!! Please do more videos together sometime. I would love to know more about Sahar's journey to becoming a GP and having children :)
Same here. I'm on the fence of deciding if I should compromise and just stick to pharmacy but I really want to do pediatric neurology. I dont know how I would have a successful career, marriage and happy kids.
@@MI-gu8lqLol that is terrible advice, very few women will be happy with that. Initially it might be nice that she is free to chase her career but her respect and admiration for her husband will dwindle. She will become frustrated having him depend on her financially. She will be around men who are more successful than her husband and will compare him negatively to those men. In my life, I've never seen a happy relationship where the woman earns significantly more than the man or works more.
I am in love with a neurosurgeon, so this helped me tremendously! I now understand her better. I understand the on call life much better and how I can help and support her! Thank you very much! You have enhanced my life with the things you shared today!
My partner is a medical student who wants to become a neurosurgeon and we are in a big distance relationship for 2 years now .It is very challanging and it will always be ,i can also get an idea from videos like this even every relationship is different . Its hard but as long as you love and respect each other there's no reason to give up . I am very proud of him .

Thank you guys so much for making this video and having this channel talk about my questions and fears with being with him. Love you guys and good luck with future challenges.
Hi both, just a note to wish you both well. People forget the pressures on medical professionals and it's lovely to see you both so happy. Take care and all the best.
I'm so happy I found your video!! Becoming a neurosurgeon is my dream job but I was afraid that with how stressful and demanding the job was I wouldn't be able to have my own family. So I'm so happy that I found this video because it gave me hope. It gave me hope that I wouldn't have to give up starting my own family just because I wanted so desperately to become a neurosurgeon. I want to become a neurosurgeon but I'm afraid that because of how challenging and difficult the work is, I wouldn't be able to spend quality time with my friends and family. So thank you guys so much for giving me hope!!!
not only do you save lives but you save me from my boredom .. also your wife is one of the most beautiful people i've ever seen ! congratulations sir !
This is such a lovely video. It reminds me of the clip that has been circulating where the guy looks down at his wife's ex partner and goes "arn't you happy that you married a CEO rather than him" and she turns back to him and says "if I had stayed with him he would have been the CEO". Support is so important! And Sahar is such a lovely supporting wife, but the key thing is is that you recognize that she is, listens, complies with her requests (within reason) and that you have a wonderful connection and chemistry. So really the key is that you both work together! You are both such inspiration! It makes me think back at my failed marriage and how we both expected things from each other which the other partner was not happy or willing to give (not talking beforehand about our expectations like you did) . But I am sure I will do better next time! Thank you so much for posting this, I will keep it in mind :)

She's great man. Creating a space where your spouse is free to develop it self and be happy, that's real love. I hope you learn to love hear in her love language and show it with actions everyday. Good luck to both!
You two are amazing. Two children are hard, we found four was "where did the 90s go?" I hope you are all keeping safe. Alex needs to be a neurosurgeon as he understands how the brain works. There is no doubt about that.
I was a stay at home dad for about 5 years while my wife worked 12 hour shifts at a care home dealing mainly with dementia patients and cannot imagine having to do all that i did while also doing a job especially if it was as a gp.
Not married yet... my boyfriend is a soon to be surgeon and I'm almost done with med school.... it's not always easy..... but I understand completely and love him even more for it......
I wanted to become a doctor when I was younger due to my father being a Pulmonologist, but as I got older I realized this lifestyle is not for me. I couldn't imagine myself being happy and balancing a hectic work/study life and a social life. nor did I have a true passion and desire to even become one. More power to all doctors/surgeons who find true passion for this lifestyle. I went into business instead and now I make very good money and able to enjoy myself and my passions. glad I didn't have a father who pressured me to become a doctor. But I still enjoy learning every aspect of the human body and watching these super heroes go about saving lives every day.
Thank you for posting this awesome video!!! I love that you both explained how to cope with patient deaths and being supportive of each other career goals!!! It would be awesome if in a future video Dr. Sahar showed a day in the life of an GP in London and a mother! Great content :)
I can't imagine how tough that must be. A few of our trauma surgeons are military and the constant threat of deployment must be so taxing on family life
I like the bright and confident appearance of the doctor. As if patients undergoing surgery would comfortably relieve their fear of surgery😊. And you and your wife is so beautiful. 👍🤩
Hi Alex. It's nice coming across your profile. My boyfriend shared your video- Day in the Life of a Neurosurgeon on call, and I then watched your other videos. I am on the path of becoming a Neurosurgeon. I come from Nigeria and currently live there but I have written IELTS and about to take my PLAB exams. Please I want to ask, what are the steps to take in my path to becoming a Neurosurgeon? Could you break down the specific details of what it entails if one wants to become a Neurosurgery resident in UK? And I sincerely would not mind being mentored by you. Finally, I must say this video is so lovely and got me smiling throughout. Your wife is so beautiful and I love how the both of you have come to understand each other and love and support one another. Thanks for sharing this video and many others that you have shared. I will be looking forward to your reply.

Guys...on my days off I took my kids to the lake. Swimming, fishing, boating. I brought breakfast, drinks, snacks, toys. We were on the lake by 6:30 am. Off by 11:30am. At 1030 all food was gone. Drinks were gone. When are we going to lunch dad? Denny’s. They all slept well, for the hour plus drive home. Point? It’s their day too. Might as well capitulate lol.
Thanks so much for the introduction with me and for the married life but fefore how this good life happened because of everyone has not the same life but who knows the value of this gifted life, So as per your experience and example in your video three four different types of life like different in ages, nature, intelligent, and in which areas they come from as well as society and many things related with the life we can't judge and imagine for the particular person because of everyone is different from their own nature. today's of this new age everything is possible but how much we connected with the life is most important for the future, even human being is ok we understand it but sometimes animal's can also love and prayers for the human being.but if we can understand their language, attitude, and their nature they're also like to us So relationship is like that too and thanks again for your making the good life.
You guys make a gorgeous couple Masha'Allah ♥♥ You mentioned that your 7.5 mo. old daughter had a couple of problems after birth. I sincerely hope & pray that may God always keep her in optimal health. Do you mind sharing a little about it? I myself am pursuing training in Paeds & any health concerns regarding kids always peaks my curiosity. Stay blessed. Keep rocking 👍
@@Brainbook I sincerely hope that she gets better very soon. Coming from a family with a strong Hx of GERD, I can understand how challenging it can be esp. if it's an infant. I will make sure to keep her in my prayers:)
Do you think it would be harder to have a family/raise kids etc if the mother was a surgeon, and the dad was a GP? I’ve always wanted to be a neurosurgeon, and now I’m a first year medic, I’m starting to think how that would affect my family life etc :/ thank you for being so inspiring!!
Am married to a cardio surgeon and is great but he’s not really at home most time because he works in Saudi Arabia and he makes a lot of money but the kids and I miss him always. Am a Nurse so I had to quit my job to stay home full time and take care of the kids.
This is a fucking awesome TH-cam channel when i was younger i always wanted to be a surgeon just never knew of what lol unfortunately that never happened. But i still love that line of work
Best of luck to both of you with your professional and family life. By watching your video together I felt that you guys have that special bond between yourself and although it would be a pretty hard slog, you will be able to stick it together to the end. Dr. Ahmed
Hey, doc. I have a quick question about your wedding band. Because I know that surgeons, because of their profession, tend not to wear rings, I was wondering how you circumvent that. I remember that my neurosurgeon, to do that, actually has his wedding band tattooed onto his ring finger.
My favourite videos so far on relationship advice both side effort is required this makes me feel so good that I love my work but my past relationship she hated me spending too much time working, no support at all lol I self doubting my self but this is freaking amazing and Sarah is intelligent women, Alex is a man
By the way, I have a question, what pay band are neurosurgeons on normally? I am suprised they aren't earning more than GPs! I would have thought surgeons are arguably under a lot more stress....
I have an important question. I have been struggling with clinical depression for 1 year. I am considering TMS, would you happen to know anything about Transcranial magnetic Stimulation? Also what is your take on how antidepressants affect the brain? Thank you so so much.
Brighton? .... ha.... the only time i was in london, i escaped from the family for a day and took the underground and emerged up to the street at the Brighton stop..... help! I walked to a Denny’s about 100 feet away and the waitresses put me in a booth to recover with a cup of coffee.
Are you married to a doctor or a surgeon? What's life like for you?

So as per your experience and example in your video three four different types of life like different in ages, nature, intelligent, and in which areas they come from as well as society and many things related with the life we can't judge and imagine for the particular person because of everyone is different from their own nature. today's of this new age everything is possible but how much we connected with the life is most important for the future, even human being is ok we understand it but sometimes animal's can also love and prayers for the human being.but if we can understand their language, attitude, and their nature they're also like to us
So relationship is like that too and thanks again for your making the good life.
Could you talk about med school. How it was? Experiences and fears.
Beautiful wife 💜 Beautiful couple 💜 God bless your family 💜💜
Thank you!
Have a good life😊...spot on about doctor's lives though!
Power couple 💪🏽💪🏽
You guys make a gorgeous couple Masha'Allah ♥♥
You mentioned that your 7.5 mo. old daughter had a couple of problems after birth. I sincerely hope & pray that may God always keep her in optimal health. Do you mind sharing a little about it?
I myself am pursuing training in Paeds & any health concerns regarding kids always peaks my curiosity.
Stay blessed. Keep rocking 👍
She had severe reflux. Still does. She's on dual therapy and still not really putting on weight or drinking much :(
@@Brainbook I sincerely hope that she gets better very soon.
It really depends on your partner and you can make anything work just make sure your goals are clear to them as well.
@@ahmadbuz2010nope it depends on the woman. Very rare to find a woman who is happy to work and earn more than her man.
This is why I find it difficult to choose neurosurgery😭😭😭. It's time consuming
It will be great if you make a film about basic skills that medical student who want to be a neurosurgeon should master :D
God bless you both and kids will all the happiness and success; lovely channel; keep up the inspiration 🌸
The more I watch your vlogs the more you are becoming my inspiration...... ❤️ #dreaming_to_be_a_neurosurgeon
Heads off to you sir for working hard all day long for the people tremendous respect and appreciation to you ❤️
She is so Precious
She is so Rare
She is Beautiful
And She is a Gift....
Why don’t you stop YouTubing and find more time to help her....
Cool video! I want to be a surgeon and I also want to get married so its cool to see what that lifestyle is like
Glad you found it helpful?
Such a cute couple and such a beautiful family!
Thank you Anya!
But i still love that line of work
Thank you :)
Best of luck to both of you with your professional and family life. By watching your video together I felt that you guys have that special bond between yourself and although it would be a pretty hard slog, you will be able to stick it together to the end. Dr. Ahmed
Thank you very much!
You guys are a beautiful couple. Best wishes for your future!
What a lovely couple. Thank you for all you do :)
Hey, doc. I have a quick question about your wedding band. Because I know that surgeons, because of their profession, tend not to wear rings, I was wondering how you circumvent that. I remember that my neurosurgeon, to do that, actually has his wedding band tattooed onto his ring finger.
God bless you and your family, you guys are great.
May Almighty Allah always keep you smiling, in good health & wealth
Ameen
My favourite videos so far on relationship advice both side effort is required this makes me feel so good that I love my work but my past relationship she hated me spending too much time working, no support at all lol I self doubting my self but this is freaking amazing and Sarah is intelligent women, Alex is a man
You both are inspiration to young residents like us
you guys are great, hope you guys stay safe are love your work
!👍👍
We want more Q&A videos
With who? Live ones?
By the way, I have a question, what pay band are neurosurgeons on normally? I am suprised they aren't earning more than GPs! I would have thought surgeons are arguably under a lot more stress....
She's very beautiful. And she loves you very much 😊
just discovered your channel and i love it... ❤️
I like your honesty
......super Video Work...good inside info, how it all works....well, well done !!! ...
Such a cute couple!
