Gorilla beating-chest (drumming) is one of the methods of communication, and on this day the drumming of joyful tones was echoing through the gorilla house.
Especially Shabani, a silverback gorilla, was beating his chest repeatedly.
His drumming has an accentuated treble sound.
If I were to use an analogy, it would be like the African percussion instrument, the djembe.
And because the shabani hits the chest at high speed, it sounds very powerful.
His son, Kiyomasa, also does a lot of drumming, but he is still no match for Shabani.
Now, Shabani and Kiyomasa had been at loggerheads until a few days ago, but on this day Shabani and Kiyomasa were calm.
Shabani was beating his chest toward Kiyomasa many times. But because of Shabani's expression and the gentle tone of his chest-beating, Kiyomasa was also beating his chest back toward Shabani.
After that, the two played with happily.
However, it was Annie, Shabani's daughter, who was probably the most pleased that Shabani had regained his composure.
Whenever Shabani drummed, Annie, who was far away from them, would drum back.
And when she saw Shabani and Kiyomasa playing with each other, she tried to mess with her grandmother, Nene.
Nene was angry with Annie, but maybe Annie just wanted to play with Nene.
Silverback gorilla can calm his group with the sound of chest beating.

I am sure they are! I think they also know each little movement and glances of each other. For instance Kiyo knows quickly whether a certain look from his Dad is an invite to play or a threat!
@@nancym5814 I started watching these wonderful folks a couple of years ago ,Kintaro is a amazing little guy,all he has ever experienced is love and happiness,I wonder how they will deal the sadness when Gentaro moves on ,look what happened when MoMo was really sick ,and when Genki leaves for her treatments he gets really sad , I am sure that the doctors and the keepers will deal with it ,be safe my friend ,I wish humanity would just learn from them ☮️on🌏🇺🇸🇯🇵

Why is everyone picking on Nene except for Ai ???😢
Ai is Nene's daughter, and always defers to her mom. The others are not as strongly tied to Nene, and as she's been unpleasant at times to them (except her little Prince Kiyo!) and is older, she gets less respect from the rest of them. They see her more as a target for fun these days, it seems.

How come you never see the momotoro family drumming ?
I saw a podcast on Momotaro by Gorilla Life about his earlier years only exposed to his mom till he was 6 years old. Was not socialized with other female and male gorillas and they surmise that may have stunted his socialization in being a gorilla. Genki his mate had to teach him alot. And his two sons taught him how to be a dad. Momo still does not drum much.
