Hi Afzal, I am so glad i came across your channel. For years Ive been struggling to understand these financial terms, You made it so simple. Thank you !!!!
awesome , I learned alot . thank you. Is it possible to make a video or a series on financial knowledge basics , breakdown of the statements, different valuation method etc.
Great video. I have è vero understood what it means hedge funds, but now it is no more a problem. I would like to know more about the jobs specialist inside the hedge funds world.

Do you have a video about how to start/own your own hedge fund. i have many questions about it. For instance; do i need to have my own capital to start, if yes , how much do i need. 2) must i have a certain degree or certificate to start ? in other words ; i want more information and expanation concerning Hedge Funds. All in and outs explained in basic english which even kids can understand. Cause english is not my native tongue.
Nice explanation about PE vs. VC, but it's not clear how hedge funds differ from mutual funds. I get that "hedge" means "protect", but there was nothing in the explanation that clarifies how hedge funds protect the investment.
Hi Afzal, I came across your incisive and insightful TH-cam video and thank you for sharing your particular knowledge, skills, expertise and experience. Question? "Do you do any TH-cam videos on how to attract investors from venture capital?"
As an A Level student looking to go into a Finance career, how would you know which of those areas (private equity, hedge funds, venture capital) would be best to work in? They all sound really interesting but I'd like to know more about what a typical day working in those fields looks like.
Long days, demanding hard work. Very, very competitive. If you do not like work or have a high tolerance for stress, then the profession may not be a good fit.
@@tres5533 This didn't answer my question as to which area specifically would be best. The long, stressful days apply to pretty much any profession that is well paid.
@@heyitsadelinaaathis is true but it’s a very big part of it 😂. You have to beable to march to their beat at moments notice. Aside, whichever interests you most. Private equity: big established firms you can play with money. Hedge funds: quick hustle and bustle of the local and international markets. VC: speed and delivery for hopeful world changing ventures. Superinteresting! Just listened to Ken Griffin interview at Yale; would be interesting to know exactly how he became so successful! He said that when Enron collapsed he flew 20 people from his company to Houston and interviewed lots of Enron employees what they had done right and what they had done wrong. In this way he learned a lot about energy and commodities trading and mistakes made at Enron. He then hired the whole commodities trading team from Enron to Citadel where they made tons of money. You need a very strong talent for mathematics, spread sheet production and strong tolerance for failure.
The first thing they should teach interns is that the Federal Reserve provides banks with funds to invest directly in the stock market, helping to maintain its buoyancy almost indefinitely. All interns have to do is close their eyes, pick a stock that isn't a meme, and they'll likely make money for the firm.
hey Afzal, how much of a factor will my Alevels play in getting into IB if I have both an undergrad degree (at an okay uni) and a masters degree (in a top uni)? my Alevels were pretty poor so im curious
Trading can be done for longer time frames as well from 6 months to years. When you trade you still invest and can keep the position open for years as well. You didn't explain that part really well.
Both McDonald's and The Coca-Cola Company are public companies, not private ones. Here's the key difference between private and public companies: 1. Ownership: - Private companies are typically owned by a small group of individuals, families, or private investors. Their ownership is not publicly traded, meaning shares are not available for purchase on stock exchanges. - Public companies have shares that are traded on public stock exchanges and are owned by a wide range of shareholders, including individual investors, institutional investors, and the general public. McDonald's and The Coca-Cola Company are both publicly traded on stock exchanges, such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), under the ticker symbols "MCD" for McDonald's and "KO" for The Coca-Cola Company. This means that anyone can buy shares of these companies and become a shareholder. As public companies, they are subject to regulatory requirements for financial reporting and governance, and their financial information is available to the public. Please note that the status of companies can change over time, so it's a good idea to verify their current status if needed.
Most hedge funds only benefit the GP and not the LP. Since they get their 2% regardless of their 20% hurdle return. Most hedge funds underperform many low cost index funds and only about 10% marginally outperfirm them. Even then we are not talking huge numbers put around 15-20% annually and probably only around 2-3% achieving that. They suck wealthy dumb individuals or family offices to make out they are investing in sophisticated products, using hedge fund term so uncle Rupert can look smart at family meeting as he drinks his pims and views his kids riding their horses. Jolly good old sport.
You’re missing the point, Hedge funds don’t exist to consistently outperform any type of index fund, they exist to provide a more reliable return. i.e. reduce risk whilst keeping upside as high as possible. It’s literally in the name, hedge.
@@khalali9319 That is what traditionally hedge funds did - to also short the market but now they do almost everything. For those looking to invest say over 10 years then you would be better not investing in a hedge fund. Hell, investing in Berkshire stock would be better. Most do not even last for 5 years. They make the GP rich and then bail regardless of doing well or not.
