And it never will get old, at least to me. Even if it looks like it is, the fact that there have already been so many explosions makes it the running joke. I would honestly watch a full main-channel video of just pure explosion and I’d laugh my heart out regardless
Honestly it might be the way in which the main videos are edited, where things seem (at least from what I can tell) cut abruptly at the end of each segment and overall adds to the shock humor of each little joke. I love the way that works in each video. Though, it could much more easily be the case that knowing the context behind the explosions and seeing it cut from punchline to punchline is what does it. Either way it works on me.

I love how many of the clips are focused only on the moments where there’s an explosion, but Mario’s “thank you so much a for to playing ma game-ah” is always complete
I think it works because a lot of the explosions aren’t actually the focus of their shots, but instead simply a humorous way to remove some element from the shot (plus they’re short enough and the overall animation flow fast enough that they don’t feel like they actually take much time)
Yeah. Something else that'd be cool is a top 100 moments of the something series video. Like what Terminalmontage ranks as his 100 most favourite. That'd be cool!
With frame by frame analysis not helping that much, my best estimate is *1,994 explosions.* The star fox episode and everything past 4:54 was a pain in the ass.
I'm surprised that most of the explosions are the exact same gif, using the exact same noise, and just like another comment said, it still *never* gets old! Keep up the great work.
What I especially love about this is that it could be used as a trailer for the whole channel, because just about every single TerminalMontage video is included in here.
I love how everything is chaotic explosions for a good while and then Simon just walks past a skeleton and it has a delayed explosion. That one’s priceless 😂
The explosion has basically become its own iconic characters in the Something About Universe, such an incredibly versatile yet consistent actor. Truly awe inspiring.
I like how in the SA Pacman vid, compared to the others, Jeremey actually animates the explosions instead of putting the photoshop one in to make it seem serious.
The fact that the explosion visual and SFX has remained the same over all these years (noticeably being sanctified as *the* explosion roughly around Castlevania) is a true testament of dedication... and all your skills. Seriously, the fact that you've taken this simply little premade explosion full of artifacts and a stock sound effect to these heights as an *ultimate* running gag (that remains constantly fresh and hilarious, might I add!) is incredible. Here's to many, many more of these! [kaboom sound] 💥
Honestly mildly tempted to actually go through and count every single one, dividing them up into "Classic explosion effect", "Non-standard explosion effect", "Animated explosion", "Unseen explosion", and "Total explosions"
Terminalmontage's animation style and humor are fantastic, but what makes me happiest is that he stylizes his credits after an emulator (that I can't remember the name of). Reminds me of my childhood
There are some portions of this video without explosions, and there are some portions with many overlapping explosions, so if we assume 1 explosion per second, that's probably a decent (if low) estimate. 1 explosion per second across a 10 minute 23 second video is equivalent to 1x623, or 623 explosions. A higher estimate would be 10 explosions per second (mainly to account for the scenes with rapid overlapping explosions), or 6,230 explosions.

At this point, I think that everyone in the something universe has the power to detonate a random c14 with their mind, they just choose to use it when it’s funny.
I am convinced that every piece of solid matter in the Something universe has a bomb strapped to it that explodes upon any contact
Yes
That's a solid theory
Me to!
“IT APPEARS THAT EVERYTHING IN THIS ROOM IS ACTUALLY A BOMB!”
Well, every solid matter is an explosive itself in this universe.
The fact that this is 11 Minutes long...
And the joke still doesn't get old.
Actually 9 minutes. The remaining 2 minutes are dedicated to wall bursts, which never gets old either.
And it never will get old, at least to me. Even if it looks like it is, the fact that there have already been so many explosions makes it the running joke. I would honestly watch a full main-channel video of just pure explosion and I’d laugh my heart out regardless

Despite there being this many explosions in the series, it has never been overused to the point where it becomes boring. Great video!
That's the magic of terminal montage.
Wdym it’s not overused? It just gets better every time.
I’d say their underused
I think it's because they're rarely the focus of the cartoons, they're just there for flavor. THE BEST FLAVOR.

I just realized that explosions are extremely overused in your channel yet they never feel out of place. It's literally beautiful
Is anyone surprised the majority of these explosions are from either Mario, Kirbo, or Gunfire?
I think it works because a lot of the explosions aren’t actually the focus of their shots, but instead simply a humorous way to remove some element from the shot (plus they’re short enough and the overall animation flow fast enough that they don’t feel like they actually take much time)
I wonder if he has that one explosion nicknamed something like "Ol' Reliable", with the shortcut saved to the desktop.

His cursor is just the explosion and he's bound the audio to every click.

9 minutes. Terminal cheated and added a bonus montage (hehe) of people breaking through floors, walls, ceilings, and other artificial happenings.
And we all thought Michael Bay loved his explosions. No man comes close to the affinity Jeremy has for the boom-boom.

The question changes depending on what you count as a explosion:

1 clip × the amount of the explosions = X explosion
